"The zombie-infested open world will come with all the trimmings we have come to expect from the most basic of PC ports, which includes enhanced graphics, higher resolutions, and improved framerates (depending on how decent your current rig is). There’s nothing particularly astonishing about those features, but it’s nice to know we’re not looking at something resembling the Dark Souls PC port."

Hopefully they resolve all the problems with the PC version, but I am excited for this. The gameplay i've seen on Xbox 360 looked compelling. We will see what happens.

Early access won't get a Steam user keyboard and mouse controls? Fuck that. I'll wait. Ridiculous.

Another openworld zombie game. Sigh. They just want to run this genre into the ground as fast as possible.

I've been itching to play this. Don't care if early release is controller only.. Ima jump on this shit as soon as it hits.

LMAO @ all the keyboard & mouse elitists

I tried the demo on the Xbox 360 and it was ok.

I get annoyed with games that have items in the world that would make sense to use, but you can't interact with. For example you come across a barrel of 2x4s but you can't take any. Meanwhile you have a stick to defend yourself.

Honestly, the game gets better beyond the demo. Building up your safehouse with new facilities you've built from the stuff you scavenged is really rewarding. It does make it frustrating that you can't just pick anything up, though.

For all those looking to play, make sure you do NOT throw away any commemorative hockey sticks you come across. They're pretty much the best weapon in the damn game.

Hmm I didnt know there was a demo on the 360 I may just have to check that out. Hopefully they do a decent job of porting it over to the PC. The gameplay does look pretty interesting from what I have seen of the 360 version and im looking forward to this being on PC.

wait whaaaaaaaa no keyboard/mouse support for early access? ill wait, thank you. I'm fucking retarded when it comes to aiming on a controller. fun game though

I was thinking of caving and getting the 360 version. Glad I didn't!

Agreed, i never cared for games like Dead Island. It gets boring very quickly and there wasnt much story, and i expect this to be the same

Follow the Last of Us formula devs.....

This is probably the best zombie-themed game I've ever played. I'm totally excited to see it coming to PC.

If the controller-only early access test bothers you, just wait until the full release.. simple.

I probably will too, but calling PC gamers "elitist" for expecting keyboard and mouse controls on a PC is just silly.

Well, I was saying it in tongue & cheek. But I do believe it is sillier being a gamer and not owning a controller for the games that are best suited for them.

I'll most likely switch to M&KB to play at full release, but definitely have no qualms about getting started with a controller in hand :)

Just seems like most pc gamers would have a xbox controller by now as there have been many games that don't control well on the Mouse/Keyboard.

I suppose, though the only games I feel are actually suited for a controller are side-scrollers, fighting games, and racing games. Since this isn't any of those...yeah.

Yeah, and I do own a controller, but a third-person action game shouldn't be one that doesn't work well on M/KB.

Except this game isn't really like any other open world zombie game?

The game actually focuses on making your character(s) not superhuman and you can quickly die if you get into a bad situation and exhaust you self.

You do not play as "one character" and any character you can play as can die, and if they die you take over as another character within your group who was friendly to your character that died.

The game is much more focused on the group and dealing with things such as shelter, food, surviving.

Which is what makes it so much fun and "different" from other zombie games out there like Dead Island/Dead Rising/Left 4 dead, etc.

I'm zombied out and even I'm looking forward to giving this a shot.

You definitely should be :)

If you ever thought, "I want a game where I just need to survive a zombie apocalypse" this is that game. It goes way beyond shooting zombies and collecting guns and ammo. Although that being said, for gun lovers there is a BUTTLOAD of guns in this game. Just for Glocks alone you have the 17, 18, 20, 21, and 26 :p

It's really about survival and keeping a group of people alive, so you have to make sure you have enough room for everyone to sleep comfortably (to avoid sleep deprivation,) food and water for everyone, medicine, a place to maintain your cars/trucks, stuff like that. You can use a number of different places as a "home" from a regular house to a trucking warehouse, and each place can be upgraded provided you have the building materials (which have to be found throughout the map.) I mean they thought of everything in this game. Characters have random perks or traits that can be good or bad (like one person could be a smoker or an alcoholic but have great leadership skills) and you have to keep everyone's morale up too.

I absolutely love the 360 version but the framerate and draw-in issues are making me quite excited for the PC, if you couldn't tell :p

sounds like the most basic of ports with no real PC enhancements...but better then nothing I guess...anticipating 'Dying Light' much more then this for my open world zombie gaming fix

It's going to be an early access game. Can't really judge it based solely on the early access state. Nice thing about early access is that there is a chance that the devs will change things if enough people complain. So it's possible that there will be more PC improvements. I plan on picking this up when it hits Steam and trying to talk to the devs and suggest features and stuff.

Dying Light looks like it might be good, but I will NOT buy it on release. Techland has a terrible track record with broken games and just shoddy launches in general. I do not trust them.

The only enhancements will be due to the raw performance power and Cry Engine 3 scalability on PC. Bigger draw distances, higher framerate etc, anti-aliasing support. That will be plenty to elevate the PC version above the console versions.

The devs have said they won't be adding extra content for the PC release, so I wouldn't expect higher quality textures or anything. The modding community will take care of that.

maybe they learned from their mistakes with Dead Island...they also developed the Call of Juarez games

CryEngine 3?...I must have missed that part...it should be a good looking port at least

EDIT: just looked at some gameplay video on YouTube...the textures and detail are not that impressive for a CryEngine game...must have scaled down considerably for consoles

I recall the first Call of Juarz game having some issues early on. The second was a heavily dumbed down console shooter (decently fun though). The third was absolutely terrible. Gunslinger looks cool, I need to pick it up one of these days. Dead Island was a disaster at launch. Even ignoring the screw up with uploading a pre-release version to Steam's servers the game is still really broken to this day. Mind you, broken in some rather amusing open world ways. Riptide was just meh, clearly they just didn't care. It is also fairly buggy. I wonder if it's an engine issue with the Dead Island games that is part of the reason for them being so big ridden. They are using a new version of their Chrome engine for Dying Light so with any luck it will perform better.

Old news I guess, but I just read that this doesn't have MP and won't ever... :(

Yeah...don't get me wrong, I'll pick up State of Decay for sure, but cancelling co-op seems like a missed opportunity and an MMO doesn't really make up for it.

so is there really much more to this game besides fetch quests? that's pretty much all I saw in the console gameplay, and what people were saying. that basically all you're doing is going back and forth collecting stuff, not that this couldn't be enjoyable but I don't see how it would stay interesting for long.

why silly? why would you willingly conform to a standard of worse controls, I don't get it. devs too lazy to have a proper control scheme doesn't make them better suited for anything, it just makes that your only choice for it to be playable. there's a huge difference between that and games that would actually make more sense to play with dpad and thumbsticks.

Silly because you'd miss out on plenty of great gaming experiences simply because of a control bias. While I agree most games are better suited to M&KB, there are simply a massive amount of games that are better suited to controller and are designed for them. Kingdoms of Amalur is one that immediately springs to mind as being a much more fluid and enjoyable experience with controller. Not to mention a ton of racing games.

Having the option of both controller and M&KB simply makes sense for any gamer.

We heard you like ports so we put a console in your pc so you can port while you port.

No multiplayer eh?

I'll pass. I'm not really too into single player anymore, though I do have 3-4 games in my backlog that I WILL finish.

Have they given a release date yet?

edit: nvm

looks like it has the potential to be really badass. looking forward to checking this out.
