2000 to 13000 Free Riot Points for purchasing a Prepaid AMEX debit card

that's BS. I had money in amazon and I withdrew money to my amex serve card in only 2 business days.

Maybe people are having problems because they don't have money in amazon payments and have to transfer it there first.

Here's my timeline:
Signed up on 8/16
Received card and activated on 8/23
Initiated $22 withdrawal from amazon on 8/23

Funds transfer complete on early AM (before 5am) on 8/27, with RP in my LOL account that morning.

Using amazon payments did not slow the process down at all. The $22 transfer was done exactly 2 business days after I initiated a withdrawal on amazon.

How? How on earth did you initiate a withdrawal the same day you got the card? You have to verify the "bank" to even make a withdrawal to it and you cant start that process until you get the card and activate through serve,

Using amazon payments has been slow as fuck. I started this process the same day as you and i am STILL waiting on amazon payments to verify the bank so i can even start the transfer from amazon to serve.

Withdrew money from my bank to amazon payments 8/28
Received fund in amazon 9/4
withdrawing from amazon to amex initaited 9/4

Letsee how long it takes before i get the money into amex.

Also took 3 business days before amazon deposited some 0.XX cents into amex to link accounts.

Sorry, the confirmation deposits started on 8/23 and finished 8/24. Then I initiated withdrawal on 8/24.

Transfer completed on 8/27, and had my RP before 5:30am that day.

I initiated my confirmation deposits over a week ago. Amazon did a $1 pre auth which disappeared today (No small deposits like normal) and its still not verified through amazon, just waiting and waiting.

EDIT: Not trying to call you a liar just annoyed with the whole process.

Don't sweat it, you'll get the RP. All the skins will still be there.

Link it to your paypal if you're tired of waiting for amazon.

i just had a odd experience.
i bought ice cream cones from the supermarket for 3 bucks and decided to use the amex prepaid card.
it only took out 8 cents, which was the paypal deposits for verification and said it was out of funds, even though serve says I have 20 dollars in balance.
what gives?
i wonder if i'll get 100rp for the 8 cent transaction? lol

*edit* i tried joining nfl.com fantasy league for 10 bucks last night using the card and it wouldnt let me. i tried twice.
apparently even though it didnt process, its still under processing so hopefully the money is returned :)

Pretty typical of prepaid cards. If theres any chance at all of going over your balance it will simply be declined every single time.

I just withdrew the money from the serve account back to my bank

How are a debit and prepaid similar? Debit comes from an attached bank account. Prepaid is prepaid. They're both cards, but they're hardly the same thing. Banks frequently love to drop you over your limit and charge you a fee for the pleasure. Can't do that with a prepaid so easily.

Still waiting on funds to be deposited in my amazon and paypal. Enrolled the amex on amazon on tuesday 8/27 and have not seen the confirmation deposit yet. Enrolled it with paypal and it's confirmed within 2 business days. Initiated $20 transfer from my bank on 8/27 to amazon and have not seen it deposited into the account whatsoever. Initiated $20 transfer to paypal on 8/30 but still have not seen anything in my paypal account yet.

Man. I don't know what the hold up is but this is the first time I've seen transfer take this long from my bank to paypal or amazon.

12000k RP -- done

1,000RP for signing up.

10,000RP for $20 direct deposit:
Sent $20 to my Serve account via Paypal (withdrew to bank account)

1000RP for 10 purchase:
I purchased 10x $0.15 e-gift certificates for myself via Amazon.com (send to my own email) and activated all $1.50 of them on my account.

Godlike sir, you impress me.

I love amazon. Since you get 1 RP per $3 spent using the card, I plan on funding the serve card w/my debit card and buying an amazon gift certificate before I buy anything from them.

Also, I just added $20 to the account via my debit card to see if I can get the other 1000 RP for 13,000 RP total.

A debit card is prepaid as well. One of the major differences is you CANT over draft on a prepaid. I know I have my debit card set up that way (im not giving the bank a red penny). Most banks will only allow you to overdraft a debit card to a certain limit. Usually under $500 before it will say NO MORE.

I know most sites say there is a HUGE difference but my bank wont let me spend money I dont have on my debit card. I prepay my bank to use my debit card.

A debit card is not classified as a prepaid card, even if it technically might be because you have to "pay" the bank and deposit your money before you can use it, but don't confuse people -- the credit industry does not use the two terms interchangeably. A debit accesses a separate account whereas a prepaid has a "local" cache of cash that it can draw upon. Hence the term "wallet" for many of these prepaids that have cropped up.

I also have overdraft completely disabled on my accounts, but only out of principle. Good accounting has made sure I've not come close to overdraft at any point in my life. One time I got hit with an overdraft charge in 1999 or 2000 and learned that overdraft existed as a thing -- fortunately it was a bank error and thus I've never actually overdrafted any account to date. Yes, I'm smug about that. :)

Confirmed still working as of 9/6.

1. Received my card in about 4 business days.
2. Paypal Bank Verification took 1 day
3. Direct Deposit from Paypal Balance to AMEx took 2 days to process on PP's end, and another day on AMEx's end.
4. Total of ~1 week to get my 12K RP

Just purchased 10 $0.15 gift cards to myself on Amazon, still waiting on the transactions to process on AmEx for the final 1k.

Cheers!

confirmed all works -- 13,010 RP total

1,000 - signup
11,000 - send $20 from paypal
1,010 - send 10x $0.15 amazon e-gift certificates to yourself and redeem (separately, if you buy them all at once it will count as one $1.50 purchase instead of 10x $0.15 purchases).

When you added the Serve into paypal, did you use the Direct Deposit routing # and info ?

I didn't see it answered yet but I assume I know the answer. Is this considered in Paypal to be a checking account or savings? I assume checking.

Does the money have to be IN your paypal account, or can paypal draw on a funding source to move the money to AMEX?

I had $20 already in my account so I'm not sure. I would put $20 into it just in case (or have a friend send you $20 if easier)

It's AMEX's answer to Paypal. What that means to you will vary from person to person.

Anyone actually keeping this card and using it past getting the points?

I just had an idea....

Perhaps it would be good to keep using your Serve Amex Account. Use it as the primary account for paypal and delete your real banking info from paypal.

That way, if there's ever any problems with people drawing money, they won't be able to since it's a pre-paid debit; they would only be able to get the money you have in your serve account.

I just saw this thread where another [h] member had somebody draw $300 from his bank through his paypal then paypal shut his account and he can't get his money back.

So we can all use paypal and link it to our Amex serve account to draw from. Then just put money into Serve from amazon payments when you need to.

I got rid of all my credit cards but one so i have no rewards or fancy stuff anymore so i will keep it and use it for gas and small stuff just for free RP on crap i already have to spend money on.

Yea I was thinking of doing that (never had a credit card before though). Use this card for spending money and internet subscriptions. And now paypal. Not sure about gas yet I may use it for gas consumption limiting.

I almost always go past my gas budget.
