My HX1000 dropped dead... again. It's the 2nd one to fail on me in the past three years so I want to go with something else in the 800 - 1000 watt range.

The Seasonic X-850 is my top choice, at the moment. It received [H]'s Gold Award in April. Any others worth considering?

My PC specs:
Asus P8Z77-V
i5-2500K
Coolermaster V8
GTX 780
Corsair 16GB
Samsung 4TB (adding an SSD soon)
HT Omega Striker

I plan to RMA the HX1000 and sell the replacement.

Thanks for any comments!

Well, based on the overwhelming number of recommendations I've decided to stick with my original choice of the X-850. :p

Why not get the Corsair ax-860?

I just upgraded to this and the fully modular unit is awesome.
Very quiet and otherwise excellent.

I realize you may be sour on Corsair, but the HX units are older models now, the 860 will be a much more up to date unit.

The Seasonic is an excellent choice, depending on which Corsair you pick it is most likely made by them anyways. I only ended up getting a Corsair myself for the black/red color scheme.

Isn't 800-1000W little overkill for your setup? Woudn't 500-600W be more suitable?

Yeah, you're right. I ended up getting a Seasonic SS-760XP2. It came to $120 with rebates/discount codes. The SS-660 would've been the obvious choice, but it actually was more ($125) than the 760 after discounts.
