***Original Backer Packages w/ Lifetime Insurance no longer available post Nov 27th 2013. The following package listings are deprecated, and to be considered for archival and informational usage only. ***

Greetings everyone!

By now you may have heard of "Star Citizen",the immensely innovative PC-made space simulation game created by Cloud Imperium Games and headed by Chris Roberts of Wing Commander fame! For those that have not, please check out www.robertsspaceindustries.com for more information. Star Citizen is the biggest crowdfunding success to date, raising over 14 Million from backers and is breaking the mold of the tired, boring, safe, sludge that is is often prevalent in the gaming industry today.

If you ever wanted a new X Wing, Tie Fighter, or Wing Commander game - Star Citizen is for you. It offers a complete, cinematic single player campaign called "Squadron 42" - which if you complete, will confer benefits in the multiplayer mode. If you ever wanted a space MMO that is bigger than EVE, and allows you to walk around your ships, engage in twitch combat both ship-to-ship (including multi-player duty stations on a single vessel, and huge capital ships!) AND first person combat to attack other players anywhere from a barroom brawl on a rim world, to blasting through the airlock of a disabled ship to board and take its cargo and hull as your own trophy, Star Citizen is for you! If you want to play on a fully mod-able private universe server of your own, Star Citizen is for you. Best of all, there will be no subscription fee! The game is similar to the Guild Wars "Buy to Play" system. However, the developers have continually promised this is not a Pay To Win game, and that anything available for real money is also available (reasonably, not hugely grindy) in game for purchase with in-game currency, including cosmetic content. There is plenty of discussion on this unprecedented game on both the www.robertsspaceindustries.com webpage, and a long thread right here in the [H} PC Gaming forum!

With that said, if you're looking to get in to Star Citizen on the ground floor and take advantage of their many awesome deals during the pre launch period, its time to back! While you could go directly to the Star Citizen website and purchase one of the packages listed there, I would like to give another option. Those of us who backed prior to July 8th 2013 will be considered Veteran Backers and those such as myself who backed prior to Nov 26 2012 are Original Backers. Original and Veteran backers "locked in" cheaper prices on any packages/ships/addons we purchase, which also have additional features and bonuses. Now, we are able to purchase these Original packages and send them to other players who will be given the enhanced feature set and cheaper price, through a developer-sanction sending/gifting command on the Star Citizen website!

Thus, as an Original Backer I am willing to purchase on your behalf these special Packages, Addons, and Ships and do so AT COST! Unlike others, I will not be charging my [H] compatriots a premium for access to these ships. While I would be very pleased to accept any tips buyers would be willing to provide, I am happy to do this for cost alone. There are some others also offering this service, but I'd like to offer it to the [H] community with the security of dealing with a long-term community member who has sufficient heatware and other trading successes.

Email: ranceDOTjusticeATgmailDOTNOSPAMcom (The NOSPAM part is not part of the address, but simply something I do when posting my email to deter bots and miners from grabbing it up.)
Heatware: Xaeos, same email address as above

How does the process work?

Simply, just follow these steps.
1. PM me here at [H] with the package you are interested in purchasing or how much you wish to spend. If you have questions, we can talk it over and find the best value for your budget!
2. If you haven't done so, create a Star Citizen account on www.robertsspaceindustries.com .
3. Pay me via PayPal or Dwolla (PayPal makes for the swiftest transaction as CIG accepts it as a payment method directly, while Dwolla will take significantly longer yet avoids potential fees) for the goods we agreed upon.
4. I will purchase the special package on my account and send it to you at an email of your choice. Upon receipt, follow the instructions and it will bind your new package, ship, or addon to your Star Citizen account!
5. Enjoy saving money and having access to exclusive content!

Okay, what's the catch? What do you get out of this, if you're not charging extra to make a profit reselling these packages?

Besides a good feeling for expanding the Star Citizen player base and bringing a deal to fellow enthusiasts for a game I'm really looking forward to supporting, the only benefit that is conferred upon me is in terms of my "spent value" on my account. By purchasing packages for others, it increases a "tally" that allows me to say...unlock different forum titles after so much has been spent on my account, and eventually will unlock Concierge status. These are the only side benefits I gain from these transactions. Thanks to my additional purchases (some of them, for you all!) I now enjoy Concierge status!

***Update*** A word about "Backer Status / Milestone" rewards -

Some time ago, I made an inquiry to CIG to ask for some clarification regarding gifted pledges, "Backer Status" and "Milestone" rewards. The rep responded : " "I do not have any information yet about the milestone rewards and how they will work with gifted accounts" ". From this response, it appears there have been some changes in recent months, along with other facets of the program that are still undecided. Though some of us have expressed our desire for Backer Status and Milestone flags to "count" for all gifted pledges, as of right now it is better to err to the side of caution. Thus, I am suggesting the following policy to ensure that all those who pledge by proxy will get not only the exclusive Original Backer pledges they wish, but qualify for "Backer Status / Milestone" rewards.

Make at least one purchase directly from CIG/RSI on your account! The fastest, easiest, and least expensive way to achieve this is to purchase one of the $5 "skins" from the Add-Ons portion of the Star Citizen Store (I'm waiting for final confirmation that the $5 purchases are sufficient). Alternatively, one of the new backer pledges (which can later be Exchanged - see the entry below) can also be purchased to "count". The point is simply to ensure that there is at least one direct purchase from CIG on your account. This should flag your account as a Backer and thus make you eligible for Milestone rewards! Then, you can make Original Backer pledge purchases via proxy/gift as you wish, having "locked in" your status. For those that already made at least one purchase on your account previously, you're already set. I know this is sort of cumbersome, but at this juncture this is the fastest and safest way to ensure that you have access to as much content as possible.

Exchanges and Pledge Conversions Via Proxy -

Perhaps you already purchased a New Backer pledge, before you learned about Original Backer/Lifetime Insurance services like those I offer. Mayhap you made a purchase as described above to "lock in" your backer status for milestone rewards, but you're looking for different content. In any case, Exchanges/Pledge Conversion is another service I offer. The process is a bit more in depth than a straight purchase, but here is how it works out...

1. Identify the pledges in your Hangar that you wish to exchange and note their financial value.
2. Contact me via PM or Email with the items you wish to convert, as well as the intended items you wish me to exchange them for. At this point we'll discuss price and any additional contributions necessary in order for me to purchase your desired content.
3. When all is set, you will log into Star Citizen, go to your Hangar, and Gift me the existing packages as discussed. If necessary, you may send additional funds via PayPal like in any other purchase.
4. Upon receipt of the gift, I will attempt to "melt" these pledges down into their value as store credit. ***Please Note*** - recipients will NOT be able to melt pledges that were bought immediately. There is a 24-48 hour window during which new pledges cannot be exchanged for Store Credit. Please take this into consideration, as this will add additional time to the transaction, if you just purchased the package to be exchanged recently.
5. Using the store credit from the melted package, plus any additional payment from PayPal, I shall purchase the OB pledges you desire.
6. I shall gift the newly "exchanged" OB pledges back to you at the email address we utilized previously.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind about "Exchanges/Conversions". First, please remember that right now Star Citizen accounts cannot send Store Credit from one user to another directly. Please do NOT melt your own package down for store credit if you wish myself or another OB to make purchases for you; there's no way we can access that credit. Thus, the reason that the packages themselves must be gifted and melted by the user who intends to use the store credit.

Secondly, for the benefit of all involved, I typically only work on one "active" Exchange/Conversion transaction at a time. This cuts down on the chance of any mistakes (I don't like to have more than one person's packages/credits in my hangar at a time) and allows me to give full attention to the transaction at hand. . Please always contact me prior to gifting any packages, so that I am sure to whom they belong, the email address you wish to use, which items you want etc...While I am normally as prompt as possible, if there is a lot of interest there may be a queue for Exchanges, so after registering your interest, I may note that your transaction can be processed once space in the queue is available.

Lastly, purchases made with store credit do not "count" towards the spent total, which means that the Original Backer who's helping with the exchange receives no benefit. Please take this into consideration, along with additional work, time and complexity that goes into exchange transactions compared to direct purchases, when deciding on adding donations/tips for the Original Backer who assists you. For those that are able, gratuity is greatly appreciated, but of course - is not mandatory. There are those of us who are offering suggestions to the Star Citizen developers to make these transactions more user-friendly (ie gifted pledges counting for Backer status and Milestones at the time they are applied, the ability to send store credit from one user account to another etc...) but for the time being this Exchange protocol is the only way to convert pledges and values from other type to another using the help of an Original Backer.

Okay, so what are these packages? How do they compare to the "normal" ones I could buy direct from the website right now?

Okay, here we go. The text in red will be regarding the "Normal Backer" packages while descriptions in green will be regarding my "Original Backer" packages. This will take me a little to copy in. Finished for now!

***Note: Listings for Insurance on a ship or package only affects the ship included in that particular transaction. If you buy a package with Lifetime Insurance and it comes with an Origin 300i, you will have lifetime insurance on that 300i ship, but not on any other current or future ships. However, by buying packages from an Original Backer like myself, you can buy all the ships/packages available through me with Lifetime Insurance!***

***UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE***

As of July 15, 2013 CIG posted an update detailing some changes available to packages, including Original Backer packages - primarily those at the ultra-high-end. This is mostly in response to the packages that have some sort of "Personal interaction with Chris Roberts". Those who purchase any of the following package BEFORE July 31, 2013 will have the option to keep the package as is, complete with interactions with Chris Roberts. Those packages purchased AFTER July 31, 2013 will change and have replacement rewards as follows....

  • High Admiral ($1,100): the thirty minute conference call is now an Aurora LX, an ORIGIN 350r and a full set of nine campaign skins.

  • Grand Admiral ($2,500): the one hour conference call is now a complete set of the five limited-variant pledge ships: an Aurora LX, ORIGIN 350r and one yet-to-be-announced version each of the Freelancer, Hornet and Constellation.

  • Space Marshal ($5,000): the half-day with Chris Roberts is now an Idris-P corvette.
Please note that if you have the "Old Version, w/ Chris Roberts time" package, and want the NEW (ships) reward, you can upgrade to it for free! So, if anyone wants these packages including with Chris Roberts' personal time, let me know prior to July 31, 2013! If you want the new version with additional ship rewards, those will be available immediately and for the foreseeable future.

Note: There are the ships currently for sale as of 11/26/13. These are NOT all the ships available in game, nor even all the ships that backers have been given the opportunity to purchase. Since the end of the Livestream grace period, there were many ships that became no-longer purchasable. Though according to CIG, they will again become available before launch during other events. There are also other upgrades and ships that have yet to be made available. When CIG opens up these purchases, I will add them to my list of available items. Just to note, that if you see someone selling a ship that is NOT on the above list right now, it is not currently purchasable and they are selling it from their own collection.

*NEW* Unavailable Limited Ship Waiting Lists -

Official Cloud Imperium Gaming Wait Lists are now closed! A recent announcement informed us all that CIG is closing down the "wait list" system entirely. This means that players will no longer be able to gain authorization to purchase Unavailable Limited ships direct from CIG in the event that another player melted/turned in for a refund said ship and thus put it 'back on the market'. There is still a lot up in the air, but what we do know is that there will be a LIMITED sale event on and around Nov 25th and 26th that will allow the purchase of nearly all "Limited" ships for a brief period, and including LTI if purchased by an Original or Veteran Backer. This does not include the Idris-M or Vanduul Scythe - these are effectively not going to ever be available again direct from CIG. There however will be a small number of Idris-P issued and available for sale during this brief window. More info on this - http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1040346475&postcount=86 and to come!

I will be maintaining my personal waitlists, where I will attempt to acquire limited ships from other players that my clients wish to purchase, but realize that the prices will be significantly higher on the player-to-player market than CIG's "retail price". I suggest that users at least wait until after this month's big sale to decide if they want to procure anything via player-sale, as you may be able to buy the ships you wish more cheaply if they are offered during the Limited sale.

*NEW* Hangars -

Those that have glanced at their packages in their "My Hangar" section of their Star Citizen account may have noticed something new - Hangars! On every package that includes a ship, there is now an entry for a "Starting Hangar: XXXXXXX" where the X's represent one of three options. Depending on the size and cost of the ship in your package, you'll be granted a different Hangar, as follows.

Discount Hangar - For the RSI Aurora and Origin 300 Series , you will have access to the Discount Hangar, but don't think you're being given a run down, cheap place to dock your vessel. The Discount Hangar offers many options, and has a rugged utilitarian aesthetic that harkens back to a multitude of favorite SciFi docks. Here's a link to some of the concept art - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13203-Hangar-Concept-Gallery -and https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/engineering/13162-Hangar-Concept-Art .

Business Hangar - For those with the Anvil Aerospace Hornet, MISC Freelancer, Aegis Dynamics Avenger (via Advanced Hunter Package - as of yet the a la carte Avenger does NOT list the Business Hangar) as the premiere vessels in their fleet, you'll enjoy the upgraded amenities of the Business Hangar. This docking station has a more sleek, finished look to it compared to the sparseness and bare metal of the Discount hangar. Some concept artwork is visible here : https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13221-Business-Hangar-Concept-Art

Deluxe Hangar - For those that went all out and have a RSI Constellation in their fleet, you'll be given access to the Deluxe Hangar. This is the most luxurious of the first 3 starting hangars, both aesthetically pleasing and with luxury functionality. If you're more of an "Earl Gray, Hot" sort of captain, this is the Hangar for you! New concept artwork at - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13227-Deluxe-Hangar-Concept-Art

Now, while these are the only 3 hangars and 5 ships that will initially debut with the Hangar Alpha Module, CIG doesn't plan to stop there! There will likely be a multitude of additional hangar styles - don't forget, your "Starter Hangar" is set up for you on the planet on which you begin your Star Citizen experience, but if you want to maintain other hangars all over the universe you'll neeed to buy/rent them in a variety of other cities/ports/stations! CIG will also be adding new ships to the Hangar Alpha as they are completed enough to do so, so those with Limited ships will eventually get to see them in-engine and up close.

For those that are watching closely, check out the Drake Interplanetary Cutlass 's description (ie Pirate Pack). It notes its Starting Hangar is "Business: (Temporary)", suggesting that CIG is working on a more "Pirate-y" hangar option as well!

Edit: More info on the Hangar Module can be found : https://robertsspaceindustries.com/...14-Letter-From-The-Chairman-The-Hangar-Module - in a new posting made today. Don't forget to scroll down to the Hangar FAQ!

***Special Updates***
-

Edit: I listed this on my most recent update post, but I thought I'd bring it here as well. I'm greatly pleased to have so much interest in purchasing and exchanging packages, but it has given me a considerable queue of emails and private messages. Thus, my response times may be a little longer than typical. I am sorry for the delay, but I assure you ever message will be read and answered as soon as possible. To expedite processing of your requests, I ask that you include the following information :

1. Your Email Address (preferably, the one that you have attached to your Star Citizen account). Most of all, this is absolutely necessary for me to not only keep records, but also to send your pledge to you
2. The "Sent From" name/handle included in your email and (especially) PayPal. Please be sure if that you include your email address, name, [H] handle etc, and ideally which items you are purchasing in the PayPal "notes" section when sending funds!
3. Your [H]ardForum username. This is important so that I will be able to identify if that private message I got came from [H] User John Doe who is the same person as "Johnny Doe" with "[email protected]". Ideally, if you have to choose one method of contact, please use email - it makes things more simple.
4. Your "Star Citizen" Community Moniker - This is especially important if you wish me to exchange pledge for you. Please note that this is the COMMUNITY MONIKER that you can set on your Star Citizen Settings page, not the Handle. When you gift someone a pledge package, RSI includes the gifter's Community Moniker (for instance, if you've received a package from me it will say something to the effect of " 'Rance - Debonair And Minty Fresh' has gifted you a package! Click here to accept!". This Community Moniker is variable and doesn't tell me anything about who exactly sent me the item (ie your email address isn't printed etc..), so please be sure to let me know that Star Citizen CM name "Bob boom bang" is actually Robert Thompson, "[email protected]" for instance.

. This is especially important in being able to discern if a new Private Message or email has come from someone I've spoken with already via the other medium!
Thank you for your patience!

Edit the next: With the Drake Interplanetary Caterpillar, a Limited sale ship, becoming available for purchase from CIG again (Starting 9/20/13), I have made a small addition to my policies. Backers who's purchase includes a "Limited" ship, variant, package, or add-on will be given priority in the queue! I feel this gives would-be pledgers the best chance to acquire the Limited vessel they desire within its window of opportunity. I fully expect a "rush" for these sorts of ships and I'll do the best I can to attend to all as swiftly as possible. The donations/tips I receive really help to allow me to devote extra time to answering questions and processing transactions, so the more donations I receive the more time I can devote to swiftest fulfillment of these services, especially during special events and rushes! Thanks again, and more exciting times for Star Citizen are ahead!

Multiple Package Clarification and NEW Character Slot Information - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13288-Multiple-Package-Clarification

I am pleased to announce that CIG has released more information on how accounts will be handled for those patrons who have more than one "package" (ie something that includes a copy of Star Citizen / Squadron 42 - the "game keys" ). For quite some time it was up in the air what to be done about multiple game keys, and now CIG has come up with an official policy that is much better than even expected! As it stands, each package with a game key will essentially open up another Character Slot for a player! A quote...

" What this means is that if you currently have four Star Citizen packages you will be able to play four different characters using one RSI account, each with their own ship and starting credit balance. You will also have the option of breaking up your pledge packages and reallocating these three elements as you deem fit. In addition, you will get to choose which characters receive your addon ships, Voyager Direct items and stretch goal rewards you have accumulated. In this example, someone with four packages could assign all of the ships and credits to one character and leave the three Game Characters for later use. Unused Game Character slots without an associated ship or credits have two roles. They can be used to create additional crewmen or they can be gifted to other players.
If you have purchased multiple packages with identical physical extras, such as ship models or star maps, you will receive multiple extras when the game ships. If your packages have digital extras, like the downloadable soundtrack, you will be given the option of gifting the duplicates to friends. "

That is an incredibly in-depth posting... wow.

I did not know about all the FPS fun that could be had in the game. Consider me even more interested.

Also, I'm looking forward to the green list. Sure could use some lifetime insurance...

I'm trying to decide between Original Backer 'Colonel - LTI' and 'Digital Colonel - LTI.' What's in the Deluxe Green Collector's Box?

Also, is it possible to add more ships to my account after the initial pre-order? I may also pick up an Origin 300i.

EDIT: Just saw the update to your post.

Green list is now posted for the time being - currently available Packages and Ships are listed!

IRSmurf - The Deluxe Green Collector's Box will hold all the physical items listed in the package. The sound track CD, the spaceship-shaped USB thumbdrive, the hardcover Squadron 42/Military book, Star Map etc... Basically, the difference between the two is that the Digital Colonel comes with downloadable versions of everything whereas the Colonel includes some physical goodies too (ie Soundtrack on CD instead of just a downloadable collection of music files). It has been said that those who have packages that include physical versions of certain items, you'll still have access to the digital versions too. If you think you can spare it and would like the physical books, disks, USB drive, maps etc.... then go for the Colonel version. If you don't care so much about the physical elements, get the digital version. Oh, and not to worry about shipping - unless things have changed, all packages that include physical items, the shipping is INCLUDED at least within North America for certain (maybe elsewhere too. I can always find out for you).

You can most certainly add as many ships to your account as you like, at any time you like. Just remember that if you want LTI on those ships to buy them through an Original Backer like myself!

Enjoy and hope that listing helps! If people want to learn more about the game, I highly suggest browsing the www.robertsspaceindustries.com site, especially the Comm-Link and "Star Citizen > About the Game" parts. There's also the Star Citizen Wiki, but be careful it may not be updated with the newest info (we're finding out new things almost every day!) http://starcitizen.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Also, you may enjoy the "ship company brochures" cooked up by CIG. Designed to echo designer automobile brochures, they're a neat way to learn about the ships with some in-world flair! More will be coming later, but right now there are brochures on the..

RSI Aurora - https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/cdn-rsi/brochures/aurora_brochure.pdf

Origin 300 series - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/exfjsh7mejoxir/source/300series_brochure.pdf

and finally, the Director's Cut of the commercial for the Origin 300 series, which like brochures, was created with real in game engine rendering and screenshots (no pre-renders out of engine, no mock ups!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuwMKX0h2ec

Coming up next (likely in the next few weeks) will be the brochure for the Anvil "Hornet" fighter, which will introduce (and likely allow for purchase) "upgraded" versions of the Hornet for a period of time, similar to how there were multiple versions of the Origin 300 for sale - the base 300i, the 315p exploration variant, the 325a heavily armed mil-spec variant, and the 350r twin-engine racing variant (no longer for sale, removed after the livestream). After the Hornet brochure, the Constellation and Freelancer will get their brochures and likely promotions to accompany them! If CIG will sell them to me, I'll keep bringing them to you with Original Backer bonuses like Lifetime Insurance to boot!

Enjoy!

For what its worth, that Constellation brochure was sort of a "prototype" brochure; the earliest one of its type made. There will be another one that shows the ship in much more detail, soon - likely again posed as an in-universe marketing material like the other two so far. Thanks for linking it however. The Constellation is pricy, but it really is an awesome ship. There's a part of Livestream 2.0 where Chris Roberts broadcast an unlit/work in progress of the Constellation to sort of give players a "walkthrough" of it, and it is awesome. All the little tweaks visible in hat video, from the duty station chairs spinning around (some even rotate and elevate or drop into dorsal or underbody turrets during combat... Just like the Millennium Falcon!). It really shows the level of detail that is going into Star Citizen, which is a great sign. This is one of the few projects that actually seems to be promising the moon, but has every sign that they're capable of delivering!

I asked this on another forum, but how do you guys know one ship is better than another, other than the price? I guess you see some specs in the brochures...

I asked this on another forum, but how do you guys know one ship is better than another, other than the price? I guess you see some specs in the brochures...

There are very, very comprehensive specs. Most ships are modular to some point. Add a whole host of equipment, software and hardware. Everything from engines and thrusters to weapon systems, to either software, HUDs, command and control etc... (ie the ability to install and overclock AI subroutines to handle some aspect of a duty station/crew station at your ship that currently does not have a crew members working upon it. TONS of great customization with this system here; the most in depth I've heard proposed.

The price of the ship typically increase with size and rarity, but is important to know that it doesn't mean that it is just outright "better". There's supposed to be a lot of tradeoffs and horizontal progression of ships, rather than just a "Race to the Star Destroyer, first guy with one of those just kills everyone else without a second thought" vertical system. There is a great variation in ships chassis themselves, plus their variants, all all are tuned to do something.

For instance, the Origin 300i is a great "jack of all trades" ship, but its "upgraded" Origin 350r version, is not just better, despite it costing more to get it both in game and as a backer reward. The 350r may have less armor, less powerful weapons etc.... compared to the 300i, to make up for how the 350r has 2 engines instead of 1 and thus is tuned for speed! Now the chassis on the 350r has been redesigned to hold those twin-engine systems, but in most cases, ships and variants can be upgraded and crafted as you like into what you wish to design them for. That is to say, your 300i can easily be upgraded to a 315P by adding a tractor beam and extra cargo pod, plus a new paint job etc.. If you're hauling cargo, kitting it out as a 315p may be the best ship you own, but when you're engaged in heavy combat, the 325a trim level may be more your style.

Also, as you go up in ship size, it becomes more difficult to man and drive alone. For instance, even a Constellation, with crew spots for 4, will be notable less efficient with all AI or NPC duty stations, compared to if you had some real players crewing your ship. You aren't going to be able to climb into an Idris Corvette (a $1000-1250 small capital ship, very limited release) and just gank everyone, even if you did buy one - you'll need 9 others (or a boatload of cash for AI / NPC upgrades, which will ultimately be less efficient than players) to help you fly the thing. Now, if you have a fully crewed Idris Corvette, you'll be a force to be reckoned with, but you are not guaranteed to win. If you're being assaulted by a host of pirate forces with Cutlass fighter/bombers, Caterpillar combat freighters, and Gladiator Bombers with anti-capital weapon systems, you're going to have a fight on your hands!

So,things are more complicated and there are lots of great opportunities to make every ship viable, commiserate with player skill, under certain circumstances.

Wow, That is an explanation. I can tell you've been following this games development. Thanks for the in-depth reply. I'm seriously considering going in with you.

Is there any word on how long these original backer deals will be available?

Wow, That is an explanation. I can tell you've been following this games development. Thanks for the in-depth reply. I'm seriously considering going in with you.

Is there any word on how long these original backer deals will be available?

Original Backer deals will be available to Original Backers to purchase as they wish and gift/send/trade to others, at LEAST until Nov 26 2013. That is the "guaranteed" time that CIG told us that we'd be able to buy and upgrade our original packages, get Lifetime Insurance on every ship we purchase etc.... After that, nobody knows. Its likely there will be nearly a year of game development still to go after that point (including the flight Alphas and the closed and open Beta!), so I don't expect that CIG will "take away" Original Backer benefits, but we can't be sure of anything until that time.

I know that before Nov 26 2013 there will be several special promotion including another Livestream/Special Event in October to mark the 1 Year Anniversary of the game's official announcement - which will likely bring some of the limited-time ships out for purchase again, plus some new ones we've not seen yet!. In all these promotions, Original Backers will likely be able to access "enhanced" packages and whatnot. If there's interest here, I'll be willing to bring the Original Backer/LTI variants of these promotions to others as well!

However, we know that at least until Nov 26 2013, Original Backers will be able to engage in bringing these special packages to themselves and others.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to sell a few things on eBay and HardOCP and then order your 'Digital Colonel - LTI' package.

As of 7/15/13, CIG posted an update to some of the packages - particularly those at the ultra high end! I'm amending it to my post!

Great post OP! Is there any way to get the 350R besides the 1000.00 package?

Great post OP! Is there any way to get the 350R besides the 1000.00 package?

There was a time when the Origin 350r was available a la carte as a ship by itself for $100, and/or for the "Lightspeed LTI" $120 Package which included a copy of the game as well and similar goodies to other Origin packages (plus an exclusive racing flight suit!). I am afraid that the Origin 350R is no longer for individual/Lightspeed package sale, since the closure of its promotion. However, CIG has suggested that the Origin 350r and promo/limited ships (Origin M50, Retaliator (big) Bomber, Gladiator (small) Bomber, Caterpillar, Starfarer and more) will be making at least one more appearance before Nov26 2013! Likely, this will occur during another promotional period and/or livestream. If you have your heart set on the 350r, you may very well have another chance! Should the 350r or any other limited ship go back on sale, I'll make it available here with LTI for those interested!

Here are the minimum hypothetical timeframes (hinted towards, but not confirmed or announced so please don't take it as anything official) promotions/events!

1. Hangar Module Release event! In late August, early September CIG will be releasing their Hangar Module, the first playable alpha of Star Citizen! They will likely hold some sort of promo, sell something special during this time to capitalize on the new and existing players getting to see the game in action for the first time. I anticipate this to be a BIG event, and it may help CIG break their next few goals, if alluring packages for new and existing backers are present
2. Star Citizen 1 Year Anniversary event! In October, CIG is already planning certain festivities to commemorate a year of Star Citizen's public announcement. For instance, a fan event in Texas where players can watch the Wing Commander movie with Chris Roberts etc... It is possible they'll use this time to offer special promotions and deals again, along with another livestream?
3. Crowdfunding Anniversary. In November, they'll likely have a special promotion to highlight leading up to a year since the Original Backer crowdfunding cutoff on Nov26. After this time we don't know what will change, if anything for Original Backers but, CIG may use this as a "last chance" to make OB guaranteed purchases with LTI etc...

There will also be at least 3 more "Brochure Events", similar to those for the Aurora and Origin 300 series thus far. Each event will likely unveil multiple variants of the highlighted ship, which will be available for a limited time (Some permanently perhaps? Like the Origin 315p and 325a). The next Brochure will be the Hornet fighter's, followed by the Freelancer and Constellation (some timelines propose that the Constellation will be the 4th and the Freelancer 5th brochure, instead of the other way around). Those that have existing variants of the Hornet, Freelancer, or Constellation when these brochure events take place will be able to "upgrade" their vessel to enhanced variants as they debut. When these variants and their packages go on sale, I'll be making them available here!

Back to the top! I'm happy to report that I have several happy customers thus far (Extra thanks to those who tipped as well! Most gracious of you!), including a handful of those with insufficient accounts to post here on the For Sale section (sub 50 posts).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask via [H] Private Message or email (found in my first post), in addition to being able to ask questions in public via this thread. Enjoy!

15 MILLION backed! Here's the reward...
" The $15 million unlock adds another flyable ship class to the game, the oft-discussed escort carrier. Every backer will also get a free digital 42-page Upgrade Handbook manual with their game which goes through the process of customizing and overclocking ship systems! We’re excited about putting this one together, since it goes right to the heart of what’s going to make Star Citizen unique. "

and the new 16 Million Goal -

The previously-announced $16 million stretch goals are:

  • Arena mode: The next generation of Wing Commander’s TrainSim allows pilots to test out their combat skills against friends or strangers in a simulation. Gain valuable combat experience without the downside of losing your ship in the game universe! Place bets on competitions across the galaxy.
  • A laser pistol for every pledger before this point. Keep your ship safe from boarders with a pistol by your side.
To further clarify, the Arena mode isn’t a PVP arcade game… it’s an in-game simulator similar to thise which appeared in Chris Roberts’ Wing Commander games. The Arena mode will let players train safely and also battle one another without risking the loss of their ship… but it won’t replace Star Citizen’s actual gameplay. "

and the brand new unveiled 17 Million Goal!

"
$17 million

  • Ship upgrade package for every pledger containing an engine modifier.
  • Additional flyable ship class: battlecruiser
"

Come on guys, Lets hit 17 and make the BATTLECRUISER OPERATIONAL! The last few unlocks CIG has been promising to add larger and larger player-owned capital ships to the game (Frigates, Destroyers, Escort Carriers etc..) I can't wait to see what will be accessible if we break 20 Million (or 22 Million) by next year!

So, if anyone wants to get in now with their pledges, please let me know!

NOTE: Editing my preferences regarding payment via Dwolla. For transactions less than $500, PayPal is preferred because it allows me to instantly make use of the money in my PayPal account to purchase directly from CIG. Dwolla on the other hand, necessitates I dump that money back into my bank account proper before it is usable, so patrons could have to wait for the bank > bank transaction to complete. If you are interested in using Dwolla, especially on a high-value pledge, please feel free to talk to me - it will save on potential fees, but it will likely be a longer process.

Crap, I bought the Mercenary package yesterday :(

TTT for a good deal though!

But if you want the lti you can melt down the package and have it upgraded. I am thinking of doing this myself. I have the same package with lti.

I am considering a bigger ship like the freelancer and the hornet(just for killn) maybe - So I will look at exchanging packages for the lti. (Or the digital pirate package). I am just not 100% sure on the meta yet.

aug 24/25 the hangar is launched as well but remember the only ship not there is the cutlass.
I think it is a bit of a big deal to have in game so you never worry about it ever and that they use it to sell packages -ie 2-6 month insurance.

If you do happen to miss out I am sure there will be a huge market for LTI ships since it comes with the hull when traded.

I read another thread about that, do you know how much that would run? Im confused about it all

bumping your post to the top and sending you an email. This seems like a great service you are offering.

I want 3 ships but just need the cash to build up to get them. Im watching the Alpha # each day and I will get them before they are all gone. So you WILL be getting a PM from me at some point.

Bringing this back to the top. Added the part about Concierge status. In deference to requests I've received, I'll be adding a section about "Exchanges of New Backer package for Original Backer ones" and a little note on gratuity/tipping, soon!

Added some new content, about Exchanges/Conversions, Hangars, Trophy Give-away and More!

Looks pretty interesting! The depth of game play (and of course the particular genre) reminds me greatly of an old game called Battlecruiser 3000AD. It had a very similar top to bottom gameplay goal.

Ah yes, I remember that title. Unfortunately, the tech wasn't sophisticated enough to pull it off on a reasonable gaming computer, and the fellow chairing that project isolated a ton of his devs through arrogance, if I recall correctly.

Thankfully, it seems Star Citizen won't fall to the same fate. The engine and tech is sufficient to create the in-depth, high quality experience (including support for minority group peripherals, from crossfire/SLI, TrackIR, Oculus Rift, HOTAS simulation pilot stick etc...), and all the devs including Chris Roberts seem to be very community focused and down to earth. If you have any questions, just let us know!

Has the 350r gone back on sale? Will it?

As of yet (9 AM, EST, 8/29/13), it has not. It is highly likely it will, but when is questionable. Today starts the release of the Hangar Alpha, so perhaps we'll see something set up. If not, next week may be a good timeframe as it is after the immediate release of the Alpha, post-holiday-weekend, and the fellow who is supposed to be working on the Hornet brochure should be coming back soon... guess we'll have to just wait and see!

Oh, one note: there is a significant queue in terms of purchases and exchanges at the moment, so if you've sent me an email or PM requesting service, the wait time may be a bit longer than normal, but I'm going through every single one in order! Thanks for your patience!

I will be hoping to make a purchase from you soon for a Digital Colonel package, but am trying to hold off a bit to see what variants are going to be offered up here hopefully soon.

But free bump for you!

Just posting to let everyone know I have a bit of a queue at the moment, but I am answering everyone's private messages and emails.

In addition, the Gamescom Trophy Giveaway has come to a close. I've exhausted my supplies of "extras" - congratulations to the winners! if you wish to obtain one, I suggest you check out the Star Citizen Giveaway sticky in the gaming section, by user Lorien - 3 of the trophies from my kit has been offered to assist with his Giveaway, included in the giveaway package!

Look for neat things to happen the week of 9/1 etc..there's a possibility we'll see something new and/or limited, if everything is onschedule!

Also, we've broken the 17 Million funding barrier, meaning everyone with a purchase on their account prior to it gets an engine modifier! We're already 46% of the way to 18 Million!

Hello all! I need to postpone my normal, more general updates for a moment. Some may noticed that I edited my original post. Just in case the person in question is reading, I'll reprint it here as well

EDIT: The user in question has been identified. Thank you for your time! I shall be returning to process transactions ASAP!

I'm putting a hold on all transactions until this matter is settled; my apologies for the delay, but I'd rather bring things to a halt than overlook someone in the shuffle. This really highlights the importance of including the following in any and all transactions...

This Community Moniker is variable and doesn't tell me anything about who exactly sent me the item (ie your email address isn't printed etc..), so please be sure to let me know that Star Citizen CM name "Bob boom bang" is actually "Robert Thompson, [email protected]" for instance.

Thanks again!

18 Million! Stretch Goals are just flying by! There's lots of great new information here in the 18 Million Letter from the Chairman (Chris Roberts) - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13249-Letter-From-The-Chairman-18-Million

Including, the new 20 Million dollar Milestone feature - large scale ground based combat on certain planets (lawless types, undeveloped worlds for resource harvesting etc.... you won't have to worry about being spawn-camped in a UEE central world like Terra . Anyone attempting will face strong resistance!). This is in addition to other, smaller forms of ground (ie first/third person) combat that were already planned for inclusion such as boarding and defending starships, fighting on platforms/stations etc... and duels/fights/etc... in the various bars, cantinas and other areas that dot the system. Note that 20 Million is newly announced to be the last of the "normal" stretch goals, and that backing beyond that amount will somehow differ - likely to be announced in the future.

Months ago, CIG announced that it would take them around ~22+ Million in order to build the game, the best possible way, without taking a single dollar from ANY third party investor. The way things are going, this just might happen, making it the first game that is completely crowdfunded on this scale. Its such a relief that Star Citizen will likely be one of the only modern AAA games developed by a team unencumbered by a publisher or parent company, marketing/bis-dev drones complaining about monetization, or investment from 3rd parties that simply want a huge ROI immediately. Thankfully, Star Citizen can be so much more; a game developed by veterans who believe that making something awesome for their audience.

Chris Roberts also touched on an updated policy regarding the Voyager Direct (in-game currency) store. When the initial launch brought fan criticism about the prices of some items relative to purchasing power (keeping in mind that, at the moment the only way to get "credits" save for rewards etc.. is to purchase them at a current rate of around 1000 credits to $1 USD. ), CR and company responded to allay fears of things going "pay2win", or just making play too expensive/grindy through underwhelming purchasing power. In response, they not only provided more info, but also cut UEC Credit prices somewhat dramatically on many of the items currently available for sale, especially the cosmetic ones. Furthermore, he even added an additional 5000 free credits to users as an apology for the mix-up of intention. Its great to see them continuing to be so responsive to the community!

There's also an excellent work in progress video of a Spaceport on Terra! Formerly only visible in a grainy home video taken during a presentation, now they've provided a high quality look into beginning worldbuilding!

Exciting things keep happening in the development of Star Citizen and all of you are the ones making it so! Lets get to work on the 19 Million goal!
