So I finally got a gaming rig back up and running. It's been 7 years since I've gamed on a pc and last one I played was BF2. I am not too impressed right now with the xbox one or PS4 so I am doing this as an experiment to see how I like playing games on the pc.

I just got steam running on this thing and was wondering what game recommendations you guys have.

PC:

i7 2600K
16GBs DDR3
128Gb SSD
1TB storage
Sapphire 6850

I built it a year ago so it's a bit dated.

Looks fine though your videocard is a bit old. when you get cash I'd get a 7850or something similar from Nvidia like a gtx570

FPS wise cant go wrong with B3, Counter-strike:GO. Lately Single player FPS has been the eye of the beholder. I'd hate to recommend anything not knowing your past favorites.

I'd recommend Bioshock Infinite, The New Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3 and also FC Blood Dragon, Sleeping Dogs (steam sale right now $6.50), Metro Last Light,The Witcher 2.

Your setup will run Serious Sam 3 and Stalker series pretty decently (i.e. with most eye candy but without any MSAA). Dishonored is also pretty fun, like a simplified throwback to Thief.

Past favorites: BL1 & BL2, Forza series, Call of duties, Dead Island. I play just about anything cept sports games and RPGs

I am actually going to pick up sleeping dogs. I want the new Tomb raider and farcry (haven't play any of them) but I don't see any good sales right now.

In my steam library right now are Half life 2, Shank 1 & 2. I had a Dirt 3 coupon that I got with my video card but it unfortunately expired.

You'll want to add TF2, and look into L4D2.

I'm still running an Intel i7 930 overclocked to 4Ghz and let me tell you there is virtually zero difference in terms of frame rate in any game for the newer Intel CPU's. The only differences between the older i7 series and the newer Haswell are really just thermal and the addition of an on the die GPU. I've yet to have a viable reason to upgrade my CPU as I've got 24GB's of ram (I multitask like a mad man).

As far as games go I recommend Borderlands 2 as a great welcome back "FPS" game and Skyrim for anything more deep and amazing. Skyrim has a GIGANTIC modding community that I highly recommend you look into if you buy it. Skyrim is also on sale at Gamefly for $14.99 so its dirt cheap right now.

The only thing that will hold you back a bit is that GPU. What resolution do you run your games at? If its 1080p you should be alright , you will probably have to tone down some fancy graphical options but games will run largely alright.

If you do find yourself getting back into gaming and becoming a more frequent or heavy PC gamer I would upgrade that GPU ASAP though.

Up your SSD to 256 (it will fill up fast), and up your video card, nothing less than a 7950 or nvidia equivalent.
Far Cry 3, Sleeping Dogs are good. You could try mechwarrior online (F2P) which can be good for a casual game.

I have L4D2 on the 360. I'm trying to avoid games I already own but a few might make it to the pc if they are on sale.

I would love to upgrade my GPU and I may later this year or beginning of next but right now funds are tight.
I love BL2 but I have it for the 360 as I have more friends that use a console. Never played skyrim tho, so that may be a good addition to my wishlist (funds are tight). As for TF2... hell ya!
Does anyone know about a game called Loadout?

My backlog...

Not a bad time to buy skyrim as legendary edition on sale for a historic low of $29, and with a few mods it makes the console version look like supernes by comparison, it really is an experience.

Plan on getting funds together for a new video card when Battlefield 4 launches, you will not want to miss out. It will be the "superbowl" game release this year, even though this years annualized COD copypaste job will sell thanks to kiddies and brand momentum. BF4 on PC is where to be for the definitive BF experience

Tomb Raider and Far Cry 3 also not to be missed for single player. Congrats on getting back on PC, that's where all the momentum is right now thanks to all these steam sales and third party sites keys..competition is good, Its revived PC gaming and forced developers to take it seriously again after focusing too much on consoles the past several years. Some publishers have actually reported higher net profit on PC than console version of a multiplat so its good times, even with new consoles launching.

That's a hell of a backlog, I thought I was bad with about 6 ahah. I can't really recommend anything else on top of what everyone else has said, the big games to get have all been revealed here.

As far as your pc, it is FAR from oudated. The only thing I would upgrade (and I would only do so after playing some choices stated here, to see if you'll still be into pc gaming) is that video card. You can easily grab a used GTX 670 for under $300, and that card will blow the socks off of the card you have currently.
