I am debating between a Cooler Master V850 vs. Corsair HX850 PSU for a new system I am building.

i7-4770k
Gigabyte Z86 UD4H
16GB 1600 Ram
MSI Twin Forzr gtx680 (Two of them in SLI)
Couple of SSDs and HDDs

I ordered the V850 yesterday from Newegg via Shoprunner. I noticed that I can get the Corsair HX850 from newegg at the same price. Should I return te V850 (I am assuming I can return it free via Shoprunner and newegg wont charge me restocking fee since it is not opened??) and order the Corsair HX850 instead? Or should I stay with the V850?

I am a little hesitant to get the Corair because some folks have complained about the whine problem however Corsair makes some solid PSUs. On the other side the Cooler Master V850 is manufactured by Seasonic and is getting good reviews.

Other than possibly getting a problematic one from Corsair in terms of whine, what are the cons/pros of one vs another?

Keep the Seaso- I mean, the CoolerMaster.

Not worth the hassle of returning, given the prices are the same and that you ordered a PSU based on the rock solid Seasonic X Series / KM3 platform. The HX850 shouldn't disappoint either assuming you want to get that for whichever other reason.

Note: The Seasonic can whine as well though. Had to return my original P860 for headache inducing whine. My 2 other P660s had no such problems though.

V850 is Seasonic KM3 platform, and is superior to the HX850. I would not buy the Corsair unless it was significantly cheaper and I had a tight budget.

I'd stay with what you already have the coolermaster unit is a good one. Also if you were to return you'd be out of shipping money.

I am staying with the Cooler Master.

It would be free return shipping for me though since I have one free year of Shoprunner.
