RT-N66U not entering recovery mode. Am I bricked?

I just bought an N66U and started the process of flashing dd-wrt onto it via Asus' web GUI. I followed the steps on their wiki and it said 'complete!' I went to do another hard reset, as per the instructions, and no dice. I fear I may have bricked it

The next apparent step to me was to get it into recovery mode and either restore the asus fw or continue down that path with the ddwrt stuff, but I can't get it into restore mode

The documentation says the power LED is supposed to blink 'slowly' after holding the reset button + insert power adapter. I can't get to this stage.

Also, whenever I plug it in, the LED's on ports 2, 1, and WAN are solid for a few seconds. I don't know if it did this before, but I thought it could be an error code of some sort. ::shrug::

Help please!?

Guess who hasn't used A/M firmwares....

The reason is because the available A/M firmwares when done correctly can yield massive gains in performance and features.

OP, I would suggest reading and posting on the DD-WRT forums as this issue is done-to-death and also known for bricking potential.

Maybe also look at alternates to the now ancient and always was bloated DD-WRT (same version for past several years).

I was able to get it into restore mode and rescue it

According to Asus, entering restore mode is as easy as holding the reset switch while plugging it in. What I had to do was hold the WPS button while adding power, then after all the lights blinked, quickly release the WPS and hold the reset

I took your advice and went with the TomatoUSB route. That article couldn't have been easier, so kudos to you!

If you are into bandwidth and coverage then you wouldn't be using Repeating.

Cheers buddy, good to see you got it sorted.
DD-WRT was designed a long time ago for much older and simpler hardware and still on same versions as years ago.

I'm into repeating, so I need repeating. DD-WRT is the only one I've found to support this.
