leaked 320.39 driver

I think its a great idea to get a non-confirmed, probably not finished driver to test out our thousand dollar computers with from a seemingly shady website.
 
the latest 320.18 drivers are getting blasted as breaking GPU's...will wait for Nvidia to make these official before giving them a try

Yep. Until it's on nvidia's website or even guru3d, I wouldn't touch it.

As it isn't linked on the front page, that doesn't really give me a lot of comfort. I tried a lot of unofficial "beta" 7970 drivers which were not listed anywhere, yet linked on forums when I owned them (got rid of them a long time ago) and had nothing but problems. Several of these beta releases actually caused my system to BSOD incessantly. Because of this, I made a general personal rule to never use any driver that wasn't official and sanctioned by nvidia. (AMD at the time, but i'm using nvidia now)

I dunno. Unless I see a link on nvidia's driver page or guru3d's front page i'd be hesitant. Anyone can link a random driver link from an unknown website on a forum, i'm extremely hesitant to try anything that could be a vector for malware. Better to err on the side of caution, you know? If it is a legitimate driver, it will be on nvidia's website on Monday. I can wait a few days if so. :)

I'm able to do 3-way SLI in Span mode with Haswell, now. I've been in and out of the room since installing and my third monitor keeps turning off, though. I'm not sure if that's driver related, yet...haven't been able to investigate.

EDIT: Third monitor issue doesn't seem to be driver related. I accidently installed the 320.18 drivers on a fresh Win7 install and that third monitor still fell asleep on me.

Driver installed fine for me. No problems so far, about to start gaming now.
 
Played Max Payne 3 for a while on the new drivers. No issues here.
 
I'd avoid this driver. Word from nVidia the upcoming driver has more fixes and will be out by end of the month.

It's not an official nvidia beta or release driver. So that leaves the question, what is going on here? Vector for malware or spyware? Who knows? These things are not always obvious and can run in the background.

The main point is that if nvidia had anything to do with this, there would be a beta on their website. Obviously, at this time, there is no beta to be found on their website which begs the question, what is going on? That's certainly not a risk i'm willing to bother with. It could also be some type of driver for the upcoming 760, but who knows. If it is such a driver, it is not worth downloading.

When the current driver is fine, I don't see why anyone would chance a driver that nvidia apparently has no knowledge of and doesn't have on their website.

OMG, this line is too funny. Phishy, I hope you write comedy for a living. Seriously though, I think these so called leaks are not leaks at all. Rather, done on purpose through the "back door" to sometimes test the waters before an official release.

320.29 is a test driver that supports the 760. Some reviewers or testers have it already (under NDA), this is just a leak. Guru3D mentioned they have the driver in an official capacity. There isn't anything going on here malicious that I have seen. I scanned it with MSE and I playtested it for a while yesterday. If you don't trust it, then don't install it :p Some of the people who reported issues with 320.18 did not experience them with this driver, so if you are one of those people it might be worth a shot.

Installing new drivers and rebooting takes like 3 minutes so I can't imagine that's a huge pain for anyone.

Ah, I see. If it's a 760 driver then the mystery is gone. :)
 
I don't mind playing around with beta and leaked drivers, as I did it all the time from Guru3D's site back in the GeForce2 - 6600GT days, but if the official release is so close, then I'll wait.
 
I'm sure this driver is official, that isn't why I wasn't recommending it. My point, merely, was why install the driver to have to install a driver later this week that will have more fixes people have wanted?
 
I'm admittedly a driver whore, I love playing around and tweaking new things :p
