why are there so few games for the wii u?

ZombieU
Lego City Undercover
Tanks! Tanks! Tanks!

That should get you started. In one day, I got more games for it then I have for my Vita :(

Tanks! Tanks! Tanks is available as a free download. Most of the content is locked, though.

Some people also seem to like the Monster Hunter game on it, too.

Also, check out the multi platform releases. Darksiders 2, Need For Speed Most Wanted, Assassin's creed 3, Call of Duty Black Ops 2...

As for new releases, they're going to start coming out in July or August.

Nintendo wanted to be first in the market with thier new console. They shot themselves in the foot making this move and should have released this year. Sure they would have competition but at least they could actually compete with something backing the console.

Yeah, but the Xbox One and the PS4 are going to have their teething period too. I can't think of a single console launch that didn't have a drought for at least 6 months to a year. Hell, someone mentioned that they thought that Uncharted was supposed to be a PS3 launch title, and someone pointed out that it was delayed for over a year.

Lets go ask NOA, who likes to delay shit for stupid reasons.
Oh and lets not forget not bringing fully translated titles from overseas.

It's like that comment Reggie made last week, where Wal-Mart would kill him if we had 17 skus of 3DS's and thats why America can't have more than 2 colors. Its always some logistical excuse. A great excuse for releasing Wonderful 101 the same day GTAV comes out.

Go Reggie, you're a genius.
Somebody please punch that guy....

Enough said. Fire emblem will come out on Wii-u .... and so will Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem....have the patience.

Nintendo still lives in the 90's. There execs in Japan are so out of touch with the rest of the marketplace , they don't even know what their own culture is into anymore.

They continue to baffle everyone with their choices. E3 showed off some nice stuff but again , here we are .. with little to nothing new to play.

I really REALLY wanna justify buying a Wii-U but even after E3 I still can't. I can't imagine them surviving past another 10+ months without a bunch of new games being released.

However when Fire Emblem or Metroid comes out (not some fucking emulated version of Metroid either) I'll buy it that moment.

Topic question: because Nintendo consoles have a very low attach rate for games, and the games that do sell are mostly first party Nintendo titles.

While the Wii U is much better hardware-wise than the position Nintendo has been in in the last decade, it's still not powerful enough to run many of the AAA multi-platform titles. Plus it yet another gimmick based console and nobody cares to support its special peripheral.

Most developers are smart enough not to waste time with the platform.

The Wii by last year only had an average attach rate 1 less than the 360.

The problem is what doesn't sell on Nintendo consoles has increasingly become what sells on the other consoles and PC. Games like Call of Duty Black Ops 2 bombed really hard.

So did Madden but I don't count that one since it was just the previous years game roster with a new number instead of a new game like the one the 360 and PS3 got.

It doesn't matter when its released; it won't sell well. Platinum Games have always made games for a niche audience. How much did Madworld, Infinite Space, Bayonetta and Vanquish sell?

There are no games because Nintendo doesn't know what the fuck they are doing. They have 2-4 developers who do everything and are over 40 some pushing 60.

Nothing is coming out this year other than rehashed shit, another DK with new levels in 720p (same assets), pikman then around Christmas ya'll get Mario 3D on a zplane with players 2-4 using their high tech dpads with Wii U Party 21.

If you want a Wii U you should wait till 2014 but then PS4 is be out so yea.

*snicker* :D

The chart I saw showed a difference of 2, but such low numbers give a very high % for the difference.

Then there's Nintendo's spin about "pieces of software sold" to give the Wii U a non-comparable "attach rate" of nearly 4 pieces of software per console, when compared to how disc based attach rate figures are usually released. The Wii U is doing pretty terribly by usual attach rate standards: http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/anal...ch-rate-of-just-1-2-games-per-console/0107849

It's probably a bad sign when big boy games bomb so badly on the platform, discouraging most sensible publishers from wasting money porting certain titles to the Wii U. But the point still stands that it's primarily Nintendo making money on games.

That's no reason to send your only new IP this year out to die!
It would at least have a chance in August, and they could even market it(haha!) for a few weeks.

But thats not gonna happen...
Because.
NOA.

Nintendo has to do a better job with third party developers. They have a good amount of their own successful IP and teams working on those games, but they can't do it on their own. They need good 3rd party developers to fill in the months/years between Mario/Zelda/etc games. They need to start handing out cash more to developers and fully take advantage of their 1 year head start.

There was planned to have alot more games available at launch. Many got cancelled. Since launch everyone is bashing the system and dropping off from releasing games on the system. I think it will even be harder to get 3rd party support this time around since there will be more parity between XBone/PS4/PC than ever before.

I'm not really sold on the tablet. I think of the Wii-U as a bigger DS. I hated using the touchscreen on the DS while playing a game, Doesn't help being a southpaw. The touchscreen is resistive type and just about as unresponsive as the DS touchscreen as I see in reviews.

Bring me some good 2D-HD metroid, and a slew of gun games (House of the dead overkill 2, more Dead Space, Duck Hunt 2, Wild Guns 2...) with a $100 price drop and I'd probably buy one.

Come on SEGA, High Moon, NOA, Grasshopper!!

I still think the Wii had alot of untapped potential with the motion controls no one has capitalized on. Just bought about 7 more games in the last week bringing me up to 35 and still got another 10 to pickup :D

Well, I definitely agree with the lack of advertising. I don't think it should be entirely up to Nintendo to provide for it, at some point 3rd parties should be responsible for the games they make and getting them noticed. Imagine if games like Killer 7, Lost Kingdoms, No More Heroes, Zack and Wiki and Fragile Dreams had gotten the attention they deserved.

so the games are coming? I am thinking about getting the wii u. how safe it is to... buy a wii u? does the wii u still have a future?

The Wii U is going to goto the route of Virtual Boy and Atari 7200 I see people at work everyday saying this is the new Wii????? They don't even know it existed....

Nintendo is publishing Wonderful 101. Worldwide, actually.
This is all them this time. Watch NOA squander the opportunity(which already doesn't look good with the pointless delay to September).

werent they "re-releasing" the Wii U a E3 with a boat load of new games... so Nintendo said..

Yeah, they have some pretty big named games coming out by the end of the year.

Honestly, though, you should probably check out the games yourself to see if they appeal to you. By the end of September, the Wii U should have Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, The new Splinter Cell game, Rayman Legends and maybe Deus Ex Human Revolution: Director's Cut.

I personally like the Wii U, granted it only has a handful of games. I really enjoy playing the mario games, esp. multi-player. I'm currently caught on Monster Hunter 3 (It's a really addictive game). Can't wait for the new Smash Bros. I think things will pick up. Also, Zombie U isn't as bad as people say in my opinion. Granted it's not the best Zombie game made.

Nintendo just needs to get out of the console market at this point. they could make WAY more money selling their IPs or just making games with their IPs than they can selling hardware and having to deal with it.

They just keep throwing gimmicky crap hoping people snatch it up because of the Wii success. Look at the 3ds. Gimmicky 3d shit like virtual boy.

Though handhelds are the only realm I feel Nintendo can still excel at making the hardware but please get out of the high end console hardware market because they fail at it. Only reason Wii was a hit was because so many people bought it because it wsa the iPhone of console and then left it to rot after a few months.

Yeah, just look at the 3DS with glasses free 3D and selling over 30 million units in 2 years. What a loser!

Bitch all you want, but the Wii still sold 90 million units, and now whenever Nintendo announces anything, Sony and Microsoft immediately try and copy them.

New super Luigi u came out today and it is really fun more challenging and worth every bit of 19.99

I also found out that Game and Wario is coming out next week. I'm not interested in it, but someone else might be, I guess.

So what exactly is the difference in gameplay in New Super Luigi U? I know the levels are mostly the same, but tweaked and changed to suit Luigi and stuff. Anything else?

So much is different it's too hard to list but the level layout the time you get the enemies Luigi's movements add a challenge. There's a ton of difference. It's very fun

It still doesn't sound like a huge difference to me. I'm mostly 2D platformed-out, having almost all my patience for standard 2D platformers run out on the 8 bit and 16 bit generational consoles. It's really had to get me excited for a 2D platform game, unless it's a Metroid or Castlevania style game.

Well, gee, if you say so....

Why has nobody seen Willy Wonka for years? Well Charlie, he's busy f&@)ing working you little brat. Working on Zelda. All is well.

Re: getting out of the console market, I think they are still making great stuff and they sometimes end up giving us stuff we didn't know we wanted. 3D screens? Touchpad for inventory in Zelda and who knows what.

Frankly I like them best when their first party titles hit that Disney level of originality and they could do great things on another makers hardware. They're doing great things on their own hardware though. As long as the software and IP development continues, I'm good.

That's a good way to sum it up. I think it's also a good point to bring up the fact that Nintendo has been hitting it out of the part with sales, the Wii being hugely successful, and the same with the DS and 3DS. Even though I grew to hate the Wii, I know that selling well over 90 million consoles was a success. "We just made the best selling console last generation. Well shit, I guess we DON'T know what we're doing after all. Better quit."

Nintendo makes some very high quality games, and that's something I don't want them to stop doing. I do want to see some more grandiose Mario games like Mario Galaxy or Super Mario Sunshine, and I do want to see some new IPs, but that stuff takes time. Sometimes it worth waiting. Especially if you consider getting another console while you wait.

I just want to see Nintendo make a non 2D platformer on PS4 or XB1.
