Xbox One: If you are banned you lose ALL your games

Back peddling ftw.

Indeed but here is a BIGGER problem thanks to the response from Major Nelson :

A question with no satisfying response yet however, is what gamers can expect years down the road if Xbox One's authentication servers are shut down. Major Nelson followed up with a response in the comment thread that "I'll get the real answer, I just don't know it yet."

http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/15/major-nelson-takes-xbox-one-questions-says-banned-users-will-a/

So basically follow EA's model of shutting down game servers after a period of time. Boy I bet that'll make retro gamers preorder an Xbox One right this minute!

SO many great reasons to own an Xbox One

Dude, kill the fucking "holier than thou" attitude. You can stop acting like you're better than everyone else because of how you buy you games. Here's a hint: You're not. You want to do your crusade against digital games? Go for it, but holding your gaming buy decisions above everyone's head and acting like it somehow makes you better person is not going to get your voice heard. Your attitude only serves to piss people off and make them disregard every single word you say. You know what you sound like right now? One of those uber religious types that gets in people's faces and tells them they're wrong for not following their belief and how much better they are than you because they "know the truth". It doesn't do your message any good to be compared to that. You want to convince people, start with treating them like people and not like lesser beings because they buy a fucking video game you disagree with.

TL;DR

Calm your tits, pleb.

Halo 2 servers for the PC were shutdown after less than 6 years. Just saying.

In steam if your account is banned you can still play all games AFAIK but you cannot connect to VAC secured servers which means you have to play on just a hand full of poorly configured servers full of cheaters.

Also Valve AFAIK does not ban accounts simply for bad language etc...

Ultimately though this is one of those things that lowers cheating on consoles, if you got a $500 device, and hundreds to thousands of dollars in content and games attached to an account you sure as heck are going to think hard about cheating.

I guess you fail to read. They'll be on the PS4. Right now PS4 has so much hype, Kids go where Hype is. PS4 is cheaper, kids go where cheap is. With all the hype and complaints about people crying over the 24 hr check in and used game stuff, these kids will go to the PS4. They don't understand the long term vision of Microsoft nor are in the PC Gaming community to even understand Digital Games and Being always online. I'm an avid gamer and primarily PC, I pretty much play nothing that is offline anymore. (look at signature) Everything is "always online" and I use steam a lot. I like where microsoft is heading into the future, problem is many "console" users don't understand and have to be handled with care.

The "main streamers" will be going to the PS4 for all of the above, that's OK with me <3.

Your logic is flawed. I can read clearly, you just don't make any sense.

If you think parents wont buy their kids the new Xbox, you're in for a rude awakening.

pretty sure the kids follow COD and Halo so where ever those 2 games are the kids will go. and most of those kids already have friends established on Xbox Live and are use to the Xbox Controller so i dont think as many will be leaving that console anytime soon.

Watch and See my friends. I've already polled the youth in my area. The hype for PS4 is extreme and they all are hopping from Xbox 360 to PS4. Already pre-ordered. I have tons of family across the country, young cousins and so forth. Friends across facebook and its all Ps4. Look at the polls dude, get your head out of your asses. Its all good you'll be on Ps4 with all the tools :)

So what's better muting someone or waiting 3 hours to find a game online?

Likely they are lying like with everything else. But what about games where it's only multiplayer with a 2 hour campaign? You'd still lose access to almost the entire game so the end result would almost be the same.

So...don't use hacks and/or mod the HW to play pirated games (oops, I mean "backups", since my 2 young kids have managed to fuck up ALL of my BDs, HD-DVDs, DVDs and 360 games )

So we can agree that the xbox one is not dead in the water, as most folks here seem to think?

pretty much, id say they have a good 5million dedicated fans that will buy the console regardless of the crap MS pulls. not counting the people that plan to buy both systems or might get it later just because they see a few exclusives they will want down the road or a price drop in a year.

and the systems are so close tech wise that its great for devs and publishers that the cost to make Xbone version and ps4 versions is pretty damn easy on them compared to last gen so aslong as there are atleast 2m active Xbone fanatics out there i cant see the console dying because games will still come out for it thanks to the large install base of the PS4/PC

so even worst case scenario i dont think the system will die.

Since you're renting a license for a game and with you being constantly watched and listened and connected MS knows everything about you so I bet they can simply see what game you hacked or whatever and take away that license and be done with it.. No need for banning a console (unless console itself hacked) and taking away a library or all games. If repeated offender then MS should, by all means, send the MS police to ban you from gaming by amputating your arms.

Because that's the only thing you can get banned for...the Xbox "admins" are widely known for being power hungry little bitches, and the Xbox for having some weird policies.

That argument is the same as "if you have nothing to hide you wont mind being searched". :p

Woah settle down, Jr.

It is hard to tell, with the xbox 360 MS had halo which was a ace, but since then COD has become the dominant MP game for consoles. But COD is going to ship on all platforms. The multiplayer and community lead MS built up with xbox 360 was big but I don't know if it will translate to xbox one with so much negative publicity. Literally every comment you here is pretty much all bad about MS so far. MS will surely ship a million consoles but past that its getting iffy.

OK, all that being said I've never been banned (fuck, never even warned of a possible ban if I continue to do something) from Live in the last 7 years.

So, yeah, I've got no problem with whiny little bitches getting banned for exploiting or "modding"...ahem, "pirating."

What reason they have for taking or not taking away 'their' games that you 'licensed' and paid for is irrelevant.

You miss the point entirely.

And again, what I said about convenience, also flew right over your little head.

You and many others like you have basically given up some consumer rights for the convenience of having your games on a nice little ecosystem Valve made for you. You are literally a sheep.
No, I didn't miss the point. Everything in life is a trade off. I am aware of the limitations and pros/cons of Steam's model. I am fine with exchanging the ability to resell my games or to use them outside of the Steam ecosystem for cheaper games, because I consider my games a collection and I am not interested in reselling them or trading them. This isn't being a sheep; I'm not following blindly behind anyone. Steam has made a service that I feel justifies the cons of digital distribution and licensing.

You can stop with the cute little attitude too. I promise you are not privy to something I'm not aware of with either psychology or the game market.

Edit: Also I have a Valve Friends & Family account so I get all Valve titles free on Steam for life, so that might bias me somewhat :p
