been awhile since.. "look what i dragged home" audio gear thread, enjoy or don't

also the power supply is massive on that denon you have.. and the filter caps.. it is making my $25 AVR-688 nervous I think.

That Denon amp looks like a beast! <3 it. I should've gotten some nudies of my SR7200 and MM9000 before I put them in the cabinet...

Oh and a SR7200 for $115 is an amazing steal.

The guy I bought it from replaced an all Marantz system (at least with the electronics, dunno about the speakers) with one of those all in one Bose Lifestyle 5.1 systems...

OH DAMN... I just realized that denon you've got has huge vu meters... nice.. sorry didn't notice at first I love amps with huge VU meters ... dang meters are just hypnotizing

Haha that's the kind of shit I miss in modern gear. It's why I picked up that Pioneer GR-777 EQ/Spectrum Analyzer. I can't use the EQ part with my system but I'm pretty sure I can rig up something to get the Spectrum Analyzer up. That and I can flip it on ebay for a bit more than I paid for it.

hey nice gear ... how do you like that Kenwood Basics (it is a C2 right) pre.....I'm looking for one of those things....I'm using that pioneer SP-700D cause it was the only thing I could find that would work at all as a pre from my elan power amp... funny thing is I bought the dang thing cause it was $15 and amazingly for used gear had the remote taped to the side of it...

so got it home Previous Owner left batteries in the remote and they leaked and it is fubar ...oh well.. it is right on my desk so the lack of remote in and of itself ain't the end of the world but a ton of functions are remote only and harmony doesn't have any codes for it

edit...
OH DAMN... I just realized that denon you've got has huge vu meters... nice.. sorry didn't notice at first I love amps with huge VU meters ... dang meters are just hypnotizing

Hehe, I love the VU meters. Was on the look out for a while for that Denon or the Onkyo M504 or M508, precisely because they are great, powerful amps, cheap and have the VU meters. The Denon came at a price I couldn't turn down. I see them on ebay quite often going for $300-$500 (the black version) with the matching pre amp.

The Kenwood is a nice pre-amp. A really common thing to go wrong is the balance pot which will cut out one of the channels. I bought it like that for $35. Bypassed the pot and it's really nice. It does cartridge loading for MM and MC carts. Sound with that and the Denon is really nice. There's a lot of power.

Nice on getting a remote for vintage stuff. I definitely overlooked the remote function, there's no remote on this... Now I have to get up every time my wife asks for the volume to be turned up or down... Sometimes I think she does it on purpose.

I like the Marantz stuff. I think I want to get one of those new silver slimline Marantz for use as a preamp/surround amp.

I am very stoked ATM... so this amp has been on a shelf cause I was having trouble with it..

anyways i messed around with it some .. and /knock on wood .. I seem to have my Scott 440A up and running

listening to it now sounds pretty nice...looks very kewl (imho)

/not that i really have any reasonable place to set this thing up right at this time.. but oh well... I still love this thing too

Paid $40 for this one...

I got a couple more things today...don't want to post them yet still researching but I'm %100 sure for the $20 I spent I will be in "score" country...

more details later.

gah... not entirely my day.. however the fit the scott to my car dash bit does crack me up.

so... turns out i was premature on thinking I had the scott sorted... i'm frustrated but it isn't fixed...oops.

and... i'm starting to hate vintage turntables.. turns out the onkyo i got may be fubar... the tonearm has "issues" not sure that it is worth the effort ...and honestly i'm not sure how to fix it...so I'm going to check around a couple repair shops and see what they say.

so i got this stuff today...

first (if i can get this thing sorted ..i will be quite happy..) very rad looking and nice condition Hitachi PS-48 missing needle and counterweight (ordering a needle found the Weight I am missing ordered it for $15)

check it out..

one missing the cartridge and stylus and missing it dust cover I think is selling for over $100 on ebay right now..

and I found these Advent 9 speakers $10 (ordered $9~ surround kit for these as the surrounds are toast)

but nice very nice shape...I can't wait to get the surrounds fixed and give these a go.

I had forgotten about these Sansui speakers I picked up at a thrift store a while back.

The Sp-1500 could be a very good speaker for listening to vinyl with. They are capable of playing almost any sound source without a sub. Aka a full range speaker.

If the sound is muddy, check the tweets. The caps probably need replacing but if you place those speakers in a good spot, you can get a bass response down to 15 hz.

The roll off starts around 30 hz but you can feel and detect bass down to 15.

They used Coral drivers which could be hit or miss but the cabinet is real wood and thus a good candidate for modification. Aka build a new speaker in the old cabinet.

I hooked them up to my kenwood system (before it died) and they sounded good.

I paid 5 bucks each for two of them

man it is just raining kewl stuff around here... sadly (since I haven't got my "flip" on... seem to be better at collecting I guess ...had to leave some Klipsch KG 3 speakers behind me to day... if they had been black to match the KG 2.5's I got over the weekend they'd have been mine...and the 3's where not a bad price but they were up there as far as what these sell for anyways...

but I did get yet another Sony ES (C67ES) $24 and this Kenwwod KR-5200 (30WPC ..but sounds like MORE>.. actually sounds pretty awsome the ES is playing a cd with the Kenwood now... very good... need to clean the kenwood up..

I actually have more stuff from today..but I have too much to do to talk about it now.. more pics later (i probably need to double check my home owners ins to make sure i have enough coverage for all this gear  :D)

oh yeah and this bad ass JVC boom box RC-717

jvcn.jpg

$10 ...just look @ teh bay to see what a freaking score that is...

and this kinda awesome little Panasonic RF-1403 $7~

rf1403.jpg

and then they may has well have just paid me for this one $12 antec HTPC case (needed on of these style cases anyways) this has working Gigabyte GA-73VM-S2 mb and a E6750 and 8GB DDR2 800 installed ... don't need that stuff but going to sell it off I do believe.

I'd be interested in the RAM if you sell it

ok.... I'm still debating what to do with the hardware that was installed... and I may have a friend local that needs it, however...if i decide to list it i will try to remember to pm y'all and see what we can work out.

Id be interested in the case if you do sell it.

ha.. honestly the case is what I wanted in the first place... turns out there was the working mb / proc and ram in there..

the case is frankly the thing i'm least likely to move on...but if I change my mind I'll try to remember to let you know...or if (some risk of this actually) my wife freaks the hell out...bhahahahahahaa

That Panasonic ttable looks great!
I have to get around to picking up a casual turntable one of these days. Dragging out the coffin gets old.

that panasonic is basically the same as a technics SL-2000 it is in awesome shape...except the damn dust cover had something dropped on it it looks like and it has a gnarly crack...oh well.. I think i'm going to just leave an old record on it (to keep dust out and take the dustcover off...unless I managed to score a new dustcover for a good price some how... or you know maybe i'll just leave it on and figure the TT has character this way :)

holy god... I am just in love with this yamaha C-60

this thing sounds bad ass.... i had my jbl l1s rocking w/ the C60 /Elan Z660 early (but now listening w/ headphones (ath-m50's ).. the headphone output on my fiio E9 may not be seeing much use ...because the headphone out put on this C-60 just KILLS... full of win for $20

BIG ol' Pioneer VSX-D1S $35~ (this Pioneer may look a bit BPC...but it weights a ton and puts out a real 135WPC :) )

The Onkyo Integra stack is a killer deal. I have seen a multi cassette changer once in my entire life. What a goofy piece!

weird thing is pretty much everywhere I go... lately it just comes to me... I have gotten so much stuff lately my ability to just sit back and enjoy it has been nearly compromised.

however i think this onkyo stack may have to be it for awhile... I may just have to keep my away from any place I might find this stuff till I can sort thru some of this stuff.

here is a pic of the onkyo gear more or less set up.... I don't have the EQ-35 in this shot..(working on it a bit..and I may not have room for it honestly...)

the tuner is pretty impressive now that I got it out and hooked up.... so much awesome right here...

If you wanna get rid of that Pioneer VSX-D1S, lemme know ;)

I'm digging that Onkyo amp. You stole that stuff at that price LOL. You got a gold mine where it is where you live. Damn. I check CL everyday where I live and it's mostly junk.

No fucking way did you pick up that Onkyo stack for $25. Jesus.

but I did... :D I simply get out of bed and lately amazing audio deals fall into my lap..

I was literally walking out the door w/ the Pioneer VSX-D1S when the people asked me if i wanted the Onkyo stack for $25 ...BAHAHAHAHA..... I very politely said...OH YES PLEASE.. :)

If the audio Gods deem it that a Denon Pra-1000 in silver should fall out of the sky and gently land in your lap, you have a willing buyer in me :D

them senn headphone mounts are pretty kewl

so I got these NHT Super Zero speakers $45 .. very compact in size and very very good sounding.. these do need a sub however

but for anyone looking for some pc speakers these are very kewl (i think) and you might do much worse than strongly pondering the NHT SuperZero or SuperOne speakers especially if you can find them used for under $50 like i just did.

the size is just perfect for pc speakers I think.
