What haswell motherboard are you getting?

I'm caught between the Asus Maximus Gene and MSI's gaming offerings.

If MSI releases an mATX gaming board, I'll look at it, but until then my sights are locked onto the Maximus Gene.

Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H. Good price with a good spec and feature set. With the review linked to by someone in this thread, forget who, it comes up good.
Hurry up postman FFS !! I can't wait !!

I ended up just going with the G1 Sniper 5. I'm kind of wondering if I made a mistake by not going with the GA-Z87X-OC Force or waiting for the Maximus VI Extreme, but that sound card on the Sniper was just too tempting to resist.

I hope I made the right choice.

I just broke down and ended up buying the Asrock Z87 Extreme 6/ac as Newegg has them on sale for $200. I have some concerns but let's hope for the best!

Slickdeals post

If I were to buy a Z87 motherboard I'd opt for something ASRock has to offer. ASUS is overpriced, MSI seems to be focused on their gaming theme (Killer NIC ew), and Gigabyte went cheap by putting 3-year old Realtek audio codecs on their boards.

To each his/her own. I prefer the color scheme of the MSI GD65 (or rather, it matches my reference 7970GE :D ) and don't particularly like the color scheme of the mid/low-end ASUS boards (the VRM sinks look like brass and the yellow plastic is odd).

I went with the Asus z87 Pro for my wife's computer. It seemed like a well rounded choice, and kept me with the Intel nic and Realtek 11xx audio.

just bought the MSI Z87-GD65 ive only used asus boards since the p2b back in the early 90s but thought id switch it up for this round and see how it goes.

Waiting for Microcenter to get some matx boards in stock. They have the Gryphon in already, which looks OK, but I was hoping for a bit more to compare it against. Patience, patience...

I was going for the Asrock ITX, however the ROG Impact looks amazing! I guess it'll come down to how much Asus over-charges for it.

Asus Z87 Deluxe or the Pro paired with a 4670K, can't decide between the two, leaning towards the deluxe with AC wifi... don't know if it's worth the 80 bucks difference, but we will see when more reviews come out.

I went with the Gryphon uATX. I like the idea of a powerful computer in a small space.

Bought the ASUS Z87 Sabertooth this past Sunday. Haven't even unboxed it yet.

All the form factors seem the same. If I were to go haswell, I'd probably do a Gigabyte UD3/4/5H. The color scheme on the UD4H is my personal fave.

Depending on reviews, and assuming I won't have any problems with it in the NCASE M1, the Asus Impact

What are the defining differences between the UD3/4/5H boards? I'm trying to compare the three and I keep confusing myself. Which is which?

Off the top of my head after having visited microcenter (needs fact-checking):

UD3H: 8-phase power
UD4H: 16-phase power
UD5H: 10 SATA ports (instead of 8), not sure what else is added....

My friend picked up the UD3H for $40 less than the UD4H. I was thinking that it wouldn't matter much, and especially not for Haswell.

I think the Asrock extreme4 has 12-phase power standard, and the updated alc1150 audio (though both asrock and gigabyte have headphone amps).

The Gigabyte boards have 6x rear USB 3.0 ports, however, which is nice. Most boards have 4 or 4 + 2x 2.0 ports at the rear.

My extreme4 z77 has a bit of a flimsy PCB; I'm not sure if that carried over to Asrock's z87 boards. Gigabyte has advertised their high copper-content PCB for years. I hate overly flexy motherboards - can make it more difficult to attain good CPU-contact at high mounting pressures.

I got myself an Asus Z87-A. Board was simple to setup and the UEFI bios is top notch.

Not planning to do any overclocking, just need a basic SLI board.

Gone for the MSI MPOWER MAX board, really like the look of and features of this board.

In for the Z87-Pro on the Superbiiz deal. Everything I need and nothing I don't. ;)

Used the commissioned buy link for eWiz. So around $190 for the Pro and around $310 with Sabre PC for the CPU, I'm thinking nice replacement for the X58.

Supermicro X10SLM+-LN4F E3-1245V3
It's going to run ESXi , since it has 4x Gb Ethernet ports

I have the Z87 Deluxe. Talk about a bling board and all the connections and features. Like many here in the past my budget was only a $200 MoBo. Last week when I was at Frys they had this board and MSI as well. Having seen the release photos of all the new Z87 boards 2 weeks prior, I knew I had to get the Asus Z87 deluxe.
Picked up the i7 4770K this past Sunday and installed it ontu the new MoBo and 32 gb ram, Win 8 enterprise. The board is rock solid and is EXTREMELY STABLE , love this board. Asus finally updated their website this past Tuesday and downloaded the new bios 1007, installed it and still running strong.

I wish Asus would put some info on the bios update so we ALL know what it fixes/patches.

Have been a big Asus fan, from the beginning, the competition has stepped up and they are offering great boards at a great price. I have been waiting for the new release of these Haswell chips to upgrade, my DuoCore XP machine, which has served me for many years and has been rock solid with only 2GB of ram. Never BSOD on me and I had tons of programs running in the background as well.

Same here, really can't wait to mess with it, I usually use asus ROG but ready for a change and did not want to wait.

Currently awaiting the Z-87 WS. Haven't decided if I am replacing my current SB rig or making a secondary one for the purposes of HTPC/File server/Newznab server.

I'm debating between Gigabyte, Asus, and MSI. The ones right at the $180 - $200 mark. They all look good, great specs, and seem laid out well. I'm leaning toward Gigabyte right now (UD4H), but the Asus (Pro) will be hard to pass up if the price is right. I'm not a huge fan of the gold, and the red of the Gigabyte is so much classier. The MSI (GD65) also looks nice, although the dragon touch is a bit much for me these days. Good feature set, good price. Very attractive.

Now, we just need to put them in a cage match and let the 3 of them fight it out.

Are there any Haswell mobos around the £200-250 price that have 2xPCI-Ex16 space for SLI/X-Fire that actually run at x16 when both slots are populated???

It seems everything wants to drop to x8 x8

How good is ASUS P8Z87 Mobo for overclocking? What is the need for integrated graphics in these high end mobos?

I have ordered the Gigabyte G1.Sniper5 (still not in stock in Canada). This will be my first GB board in a while.

Picked up an ASRock Z87E-ITX and have gone through two already. Both have issues with the mSATA slot intermittently detecting my mSATA SSD.

Then I just learned about that Z87 USB3.0 bug that can only be fixed by buying a new motherboard later with a new revision of the chipset. Returning my ASRock and will wait until the new revision arrives in August. I don't feel like paying what I did for something that's "defective".
