Geforce 770 & 780 coming in May

Was able to grab a 780 at Tiger Direct in Naperville, was on day 29/30 to swap my 680 4GB. This card handles Bioshock Infinite WAY better. Completely maxed at 1440 and runs great. Couldn't be happier.

Dropped my 780 in earlier today... wow. I think I'm going to be keeping this card for a long time. The ultimate stress test, Fallout New Vegas with mega-resolution texture mods, is finally conquered.

I'm mildly disappointed by the 80 degree temperature under load, as I thought my case would handle it better... then again, I'm in Florida and it's 95 degrees out, so this will probably improve later in the year.

Very happy with my decision to upgrade early. Now for a weekend of Bioshock Infinite's 1999 Mode...

The card is designed to run at 80C at all times, for all intents and purposes: it will boost itself to the highest bins until it scratches 80C, assuming the driver determines that boosting is actually warranted, and keep it there.

Also: I can't run New Vegas without it being a shitty stutter-fest. Is there no fix for that since dev on the stutter remover stopped?

So it's basically upclocking itself until it hits 80C?

It hasn't been a stutter fest in a long time, at least without any mods installed. The patches that accompanied the DLC fixed a LOT of issues. Having an SSD helps too.

The Ojo Bueno texture pack gave me problems until I dropped this 780 in... eerily smooth sailing ever since. I'm not sure I can handle a Gamebryo experience free of bugs and glitches... ;)

Which card did you have before getting the GTX 780?

Gigabyte GTX 670 OC. :D Struck a deal where I'd sell it to my boss if I bought the 780, so the financial plunge doesn't hurt nearly as much.

I think the extra GB of VRAM is the real difference maker in my example.

Set iFPSClamp to 60 in the Fallout.ini

Be aware everytime you open the launcher config and change an option this will revert to its default setting.

I had to put it in fallout_default.ini as well before it would stick if I remember correctly. Smooth as butter after that.

I haven't heard much about the GTX 770 since the reviews for the 780 came out - any news on availability? It sounds like a 680 for less money.

It should launch this thursday. Price is unkown, but it could range anywhere between $399-499.

GTX 680s are selling for as low as $420 right now (or $410 with a MIR). Most 680s currently cost around $450. $499 seems like it would be really high for the 770.

I would be extremely surprised if it launches over $450. I reasonably expect the 770 to come in at $400.

Hopefully this will also trigger price drops on the 670 and 7970.

I dropped mine in today. I'm pleasantly surprised at how quiet it is compared to my 560ti DCUII card (currently an overkill physx card :p ).

Anyone have a link to a good kepler/titan OC guide? I'm on my phone so I feel too lazy to find one.

560ti is not overkill for physx if your main gpu is a 780. in fact the 780 might handle both graphics and physx almost as well as offloading physx onto the 560ti.

Based on what I've played of Borderlands 2 so far with my 780 (a quick run-through of Caustic Caverns) and a few minutes of gliding in Arkham City, I'd agree with this. I don't think a 780 needs a companion dedicated PhysX card, at least not with current games. Areas where I saw hitching or stuttering on my 670 no longer exhibit that behavior on the 780.

You GTX780 owners should start a new thread and post your OC's and benchmarks! Give me something to be envious about. :( :)

With the 770 performing as well as it does for $399, I think the 760ti is going to be amazing value at $299.

Anyone found the 770 for sale anywhere?

Edit: Nevermind, up on the egg now. Picked up the evga superclocked variant.

Ordered my 770 just now from Novatech. Picking it up tomorrow after work! Looking forward to it, from a 560ti it should be noticable!

Was disappointed in novatech, they had them listed at 1500GMT at just under £400. Time I got home 3 hours later, they was £40 cheaper. Probably noticed they couldn't get away with the primium.

I didn't post a prediction, but I was guessing $450. I guess I only make the honorable genius list hehheh.

Probably hanging out with the genius 700 to 800 people who predicted that on the gtx 780....

LOL you can't take any sort high ground here. You predicted that the the 780 would be max $599 and probably less, you even told a guy to stop spreading Fud when he guessed it might be $699. So you can go hang out with those guys too.

I didn't say it couldn't possibly be more and I made sure to say it was my educated guess as most likely with 650 as a possibility, but people saying $800 and nothing less with no evidence to back them up were pretty much trolling ;).

One should hope that $1300 of sli hardware outperforms a $999 Titan.

I kid, I kid!

What type of games will the 780 excel in?

I've been reading numerous 770 reviews that also include 780 in the graph and it's really hard to justify paying an extra $250 for 5-10 fps more at 2560x1440 in the following games:

Far Cry 3
Battlefield 3
Bioshock Infinite
Crysis 3
Tomb Raider
Metro
Hitman Absolution

For some reason the 780 is 20 fps~ faster than 770 in Arkham City.

And then you OC the 780 by another 15-20%+ compared to reference speeds shown in those reviews, while the 770 is already topped out... :).

Speaks the truth.

a 770 GTX heavily overclocked MIGHT catch a stock 780 GTX.

But a 780 GTX overclock will easily go past a Titan in performance...and for $350 less ($300 in GoldenTigers case).

~$380 less for me, I paid $617 shipped with the neweggbusiness deal :).

Erm, nope, you never said it was an educated guess. You said that it would be less than $599, in fact you said for definite that the highest price would be $599 and anyone claiming it was going to be $699 was only spreading Fud. People were guessing their prices just as much as you were guessing your price, your guess had no more evidence than theirs.

In fact, they were probably more right as there are 780's for sale at $800 but you won't get any for $599 :D
