Hey guys how is the 770 going to be like?

Why would they price it higher than GTX680's current msrp? They had to drop that for a reason.

Well, 770 > 680 - at least from a "marketing perspective" - I'm not saying there's a science to this, I'm just saying that it is my speculation due to their moves in the past several months. I could very well see them using the 760 Ti and lower as their AMD price for price competitive cards.

The 680 was $500. The 780 was $650.
The 670 was $400. The 770 was ____.

It's not that ridiculous of a hypothesis.

All due respect, sketch, you must realize that people have set budgets and regardless of AMDs position in the game, nvidia has to right price their low end and mid range products. As you saw with the 600 series, they had SKUs ranging from 100$ to 500$ in 25$ increments.

We know that the 600 series is going EOL. As such, while they can price their "halo" parts extremely high (as intel can with their E/X CPUs), they cannot ignore the fact that in the real world, people have real budgets and limited, set funds that they pre-determine for computer parts. Most people _do not_ buy 650$ GPUs. But, will they buy a 400$ value GPU? There's a very good chance.

The GTX 670 sold amazingly well, incredibly well in fact - because it was such a good value. I have plenty of friends that would not think for a SECOND of paying 500$ for a GPU, but they thought "oh well, 400$ for a 670..why not". Price matters with lower end and mid range parts. I seriously doubt it will be 500$, I think 400-449$ is to be expected. Actually, being a mid range part - I really hope they do 400$.

I totally see your point, and I really hope they do it this way. At $400 the 770 would be killer! It's not that I'm arguing for a higher price, I'm just stating that I believe that today's NVIDIA (with AMD currently a sleeping giant) will price it at $500.

They're saying MSRP $450, which seems feasible as it is the non-discounted price of the 680 today. $500 is really unlikely. $400 is optimistic.

At $450, if one of the version has the titan cooler, I may jump in. Otherwise I'll be waiting on the 760ti, which should come in at $300 to $350 and only be 10-15% slower.

Who is saying $450? The article linked to wccftech.com says $499+ (only because the article is about the Lightning variant so it may be slightly more expensive).

will it drop the 670 prices though? cause i am trying to get a second 670

No it doesn't

The reference GeForce GTX 770 would cost $399-$449 at launch so we can expect a premium price point for this model.

I'm really not sure where people are getting this idea from. I've literally read every article linked in this thread and the other thread and not one of them has mentioned a 499 price tag for the 770,
There is no reason to think they will be 500.

Ah, you're right. I see that line now. I was going off the chart - I thought the $499+ meant base price and probably more due to Lightning but now I see what they're saying.

No one is getting ideas from anywhere - it's purely speculation. If I'm wrong and it's not $500, my next guess is $450. I just can't see them pricing this at $400.

I dunno. It's a good 10% faster than the 7970, and the 7970 sells for $400. If they price the 770 at $450 it won't apply pressure to AMD.

It could go either way, $400 or $450. We just need to wait until Thursday.

I would say it is a weak 5% faster, most figures quoted so far are very Nvidia friendly titles. Expect the 770 to tie the 7970 or win by the ever so smallest percentage.

Meh. The yen has dropped precipitously in recent months. If the 40,000 yen was initially proposed a couple of months ago, that would have been closer to $450 - $500. The volatility seems to make it much harder to glean a US price.

I have a feeling the 770 is going to be a sweet card. That memory, that cooler, and that faster-than-680 speed for that price...wow. $400?? Man. Nice. I will gladly be wrong about my $500 prediction.

With the rumors that AMD is launching their 8970 in Q3...it looks like NVIDIA has them making moves in response!!

Yup, pretty much. It's a higher clocked 680, so we already know how it's going to perform.

$400 pricing isn't too surprising. GK104 is well established silicon now, so it's not hard to believe that they're able to make the card for less than the 680.

i just really hope they dont use like a 198 memory buffer, I would wish for 300+ but that isnt going to happen. I really feel that some of these cards with bigger memory buffers would be so much smoother.

So...what are you talking about? I have a feeling you really don't know.

Are you talking memory interface? 'Cuz that's going to be 256-bit, same as the GTX 680 (just like everything else save the core and memory speeds).

So going to pick one up for 400 bucks.. That cooler is just so sexy even though i'll probaly tossing a water block on it.

Oh man.... 680+ speeds for $400, or 7950 speed plus 4 games I will play for $280.... UGH !! I really want the 770 with that cooler.... but w/only one 1920x1200 monitor and coming with 4 games I will actually play, I guess I'll be going with "good enough" and the 7950.

TR, FC, Bioshock... that's gotta be $50 even waiting to get those games cheap..... then what, at least $100 for my 6950. Makes the upgrade to 7950 the cost effective solution.

At $400, the 770 will pressure the 7970, but that's not where the money's at.

At $300, seems like the 760Ti will place huge pressure against the 7950, which could spark a war.

I'm looking forward to seeing AMD's responses to these attacks. $250 7950 with the best games bundle of all time? It could happen!

Placeholder pre-order price. The 770 looks like it could be priced at $400.

The 760ti should be an amazing card for $300.
amazing? it will be nothing more than a 670 which is 10-15% faster clock for clock than the current 660 ti. lol we have been getting ripped off so bad for the last year that a piddly 15-20% upgrade at the same price point is impressive. and that is mainly from just higher clocks so anyone that is already overclocking has almost nothing to look forward to.

For 300 dollars, that will be one hell of a value. 670s currently go for 100 more than that.
Everyone was saying that the 770 is just a 680, but its looking like it will actually be 10% faster at a lower price point.
The 760ti should be a similar if not better value.

Also, how do you figured we've been getting ripped off for a year? 600 series cards are considerably faster and they have twice the VRAM than 500 series cards. I'm not seeing the rip off.

wow you are easily impressed. clock for clock the 770 will only be 4-5% faster than even the 670 and it will be no better clock for clock than the 680. the ONLY reason its faster is because it will come oced which most people here have already done to their 670 and 680 cards. so other than the 7000 memory which will probably be about 5% real world difference there again is only 4-5% clock for clock advantage over the 670 which it replaces. that is not the least bit impressive. it only looks okay if someone was about to pay 450-500 for a 680 but IMO those prices should have lowered a long time ago anyway.

It doesn't "come OC'd" - that's the stock clock. So you have even more headroom to OC further! I don't get the "clock for clock" argument when you're talking about one card OC'd versus one card stock. Of course they're "equal"...there are other variables, of course:

- More CUDA cores.
- Better cooler (Titan/780 one)
- Faster GDDR5 RAM
- PRICE!

So, at $400 this is a killer card. If that's "easily impressed" - well, I guess that's me.

I still don't see the problem.
If you have a 600 series card keep it. It's not worth the upgrade, but you just saved yourself some money.
I have 500 series cards, like many other people. I held back because I didn't think a 680 at 450-500 was worth my money. Slightly faster and 400 bucks is.

Realize that nVidia isn't marketing these to people who own 600 series cards. There's very little reason to upgrade one of those at this point. They are gearing these towards people who didn't buy in to the previous gen.

im rocking a 580 lightning, its a welcome bump./

Hoping this does come in at $400 as seems to be the prevailing rumor. Upgrading from a 570 and the 770 seems to be the sweet spot for price and performance. I'm assuming there will also be a 4gb version but not sure it will be worth it at 1920x1200.

The 7970 ghz is tempting with the game bundle though.

Can't wait till tomorrow. At $400 this would be nice. Not looking to buy till mid June anyways but we'll see what the 760 brings. I was going to go all in on a 780 but figured if we're only 6-8 months away form a completely new generation, I may get a 760ti to tide me over till then and spend the big bucks then. Anything will be a big upgrade from my 4850 :)

I did not say it came oced. I said it comes with higher clocks. you dont know if they will oc much more than 680. it likely wont by very much since its the same gpu. the gtx680 comes with higher clocks than the 670 and does not typically oc any better than a 670. clock for clock most certainly matters here since AGAIN this is just a 680 with higher clocks.

the gtx570 came out 2.5 years ago for 350 bucks and we are just now getting 50-60% more performance from a x70 part after all this time and will be paying even more to get that. that is NOT impressive at all for 2.5 years.

it is what is though and the 770 will likely sell well for 400 bucks.

GTX470 came out on April 7th, 2010 - By my count that's 3 years and not quite 2 months.
GTX570 launched on Dec 7th 2010 - 2.5 years ago- This was roughtly 15 % more performance
GTX670 launched May 10, 2012 - 1 year ago - roughly 20% faster than 570 - A GTX680 is roughly 10% faster than that.
Latest rumors are that the GTX770 will be 10% faster than the GTX680, making it roughly 20% faster than the previous generation GTX670.

Yes, it will cost more, but newsflash! They upped the price on the last cycle, not this one.
they did the same to the tier below. GTX560ti's were quite a bit cheaper than GTX660ti's.
259 vs 299

Things get more expensive as time goes on. It's the nature of inflation. If you haven't noticed, cars, homes, food, clothing, all of these things have gotten more expensive in the last couple years.
