Metro: Last Light Discussion

I like the artistic style of Bioshock. If you mean does a rock from Metro look more 'photorealistic' as opposed to Bioshock's, then yes Metro has dem bomb ass rocks man!

There is more to graphics and fidelity than just realism, etc.

Yea true, though artstyle is subjective and graphical fidelity is not.

Oh, like the sections that are basically just a shooting gallery where enemies take several shots to kill regardless of where you shoot them, forcing you to go through most of your ammo regardless?

Yeah...choices...
It's obvious you don't like the game.
I thought Metro 2033 was more difficult and had more tough enemies. And had less ammo.
Metro LL has a nicer graphic style but is more playable and less dependant on lack of resources.
I still think both are excellent. If you want choices, go play World of Warcraft or League of Legends then.

uh no on the difficulties that you actually had lack of ammo they usually only took 1 or 2 shots to kill.
Correct, and you still ran out of ammo.....

Metro LL IS more photorealistic than Bioshock or Bioshock Infinate. Infinate has the cartoony Unreal Engine look and most of the textures are pretty crappy. The game itself is great, but I don't think you have to look too hard to say Metro has a way better graphic, rocks included.

You're right, I just finished it for the first time not long ago and I was disappointed.

The problem, coupled with the poor gunplay in general, is that the difficulty was artificially manufactured by just making enemies bullet sponges so that you ran out of ammo. I could go into a section with 200+ rounds for all of my weapons, and end up exhausting most of them no matter what because the game just continuously throws bullet-sponge enemies at you in waves. Not only is that boring (enemy waves while you just stand there and shoot them, really?) but it's not real difficulty. Real difficulty would be having the enemies use tactics or actually require you to aim better or something (as far as I could tell there was no difference shooting a monster in the head versus the body). Not just run at you absorbing bullets.

Not that it was a bad game overall. It was beautiful and the story and characters were pretty good. Just the combat was weak IMO.

I think we played different games. If you were wasting hundreds of bullets like that, I think user error might have been a factor.

The particular section I'm thinking of is near-ish the end where you are with a group and you just start getting flooded by the Nosalises or whatever they're called. They throw seriously like 50+ of them at you and you just have to sit there and shoot them as they swarm you from the front.

Perhaps the number of bullets was an exaggeration but I definitely ran out in two of my weapons, and I wasn't low on ammo for either.

Either way, it felt like a cheap tactic to make you waste a lot of ammo.

maverick, fuck off this thread will ya, go play something happy, something with ponies, and go complain you cant figure how to play to someone else. go see a doctor, i heard ritalin enhances cognition.

Are you 12?

That section ate a good chunk of ammo for me, too. I don't recall it being too bad, though. I kept a couple alternate style weapons handy, which might have helped.

It didn't destroy the game or anything, but it just felt a little cheap and lazy to me. *shrug*

Wasn't a terrible game, though. Looks like they improved the gun mechanics a lot in Last Light so at least they listened to complaints the last time around.

shotgun is the heavy auto shotgun from the first game ranger pack, you can customize it too with laser and extended mag and some barrel thing but i'm not using it, its a crap weapon for this game, nothing is tough enough to require that, plus, this gun has no style bro

kinda disappointing, 100 times better if they brought the Volt Driver, teh one-shot-kill-when-overcharged wonder from the first game, now that was a weapon! cute too :D

yes. Yes! YES!!! YEEEEES!!!!!!

saw your Depository video too, pretty cool, awesome actually, i didnt know those knives were so good, i usually volt driver them all, i never tried to knife them. well every day you learn something new.. next run i'll knifem all! thanks :D

Benchies on Sig Rig

Options: Resolution: 1920 x 1080; DirectX: DirectX 11; Quality: Very High; Texture filtering: AF 16X; Advanced PhysX: Enabled; Tesselation: Very High; Motion Blur: Normal; SSAA: ON;

Average Framerate: 48.00
Max. Framerate: 124.72
Min. Framerate: 6.69

So does anyone know how to lock this game to 1 monitor when running SLI Surround? Normally just setting the res to 1920x1200 works but the UI doesn't give me that option. And forcing it in the user.cfg makes the res drop to 1280x400 (or something similar).

Surround breaks vertical mouse acceleration, so it's kinda unplayable.

ok i need some help, i just picked up this up and on my rig whit is 3 7970s and a 3930k at 4.8 im getting 55 fps if i tun on ssaa to 2 but gpu usage is only at 45-55% i can go all the way up to 4x ssaa and gpus are still only showing 60% and fps are about 45. if i turn ever thing to low i get about 130fps. if i turn off card 3 my fps are a little bit higher whit just 2 cards and gpu uesge is at the 85+ range. this is all at 1080p btw

so is there any way to make it so card 3 adds fps instead of lowering fps?

metro was ok. I enjoyed it but it wasn't anything memorable to me. I found the waves of enemy stuff to be highly annoying

Sounds like an issue for a future driver update to address.

I fucking love this game, still playing a little at a time. :)

I work and only get to play an hour or two each day at most. I only started last weekend. :(

Completed the game a few days ago and I am impressed. IMHO Metro: Last Light is an improvement on Metro 2033 in several areas such as relative weapon accuracy, AI and AA implementation, to name a few. Overall gameplay was very enjoyable and balanced.

Yeah I agree. Runs better than I expected too. Kind of amazing some of the graphical "tricks" I am seeing. Well done.

Just finished the game.

An amazing experience. Even more so than the first. So much attention to detail was put into this game I could go on for hours talking about it. Its something you just would have to experience yourself, much like reading a book. many times you forget that you are playing a game. This game does one thing that most games try to do but come up short. Metro, makes you care for the characters and not just the ones that you interact with the most.

Well done.

I"m absolutely loving the game so far, though I've only put a couple hours into it so far. Every now and then the game crashes and I have to force close it, but that's a minuscule thing when the game is so very enjoyable. Sometimes I welcome the crashes so I don't just finish the game in one day lol.

I don't like that I'm a fucking tank even on Ranger.

I can clear entire rooms effortlessly by creeping someplace good, then firing one shot at heads, one by one. Unless someone puts an entire magazine into my fucking face at point blank and manages to not give me time to regen, I'm fine.

How does "creeping someplace good" equate to being a tank?

I think he means the character can absorb a lot of damage, much more so than the NPCs.

In direct comparison to STALKER games where your character is weak and the NPCs have uncanny accuracy.

Yeah the game is too easy. Perhaps a mod will adjust that. I am just enjoying the ride.

Lots of people saying (I haven't tested it yet) that the newest patch (today) has fixed all stuttering problems in the game.

I'll agree on that, the AI is a bit weaksauce, however the rest of the game still holds it together. So I'm still pleased. :)

Is there a specific setup that causes stuttering? i.e. Certain chipsets? I haven't experienced any stutter on mine.

One of the best games and perhaps the most artistically impressive monsters I have seen since the witcher 2.

Not my goty though it is very good.
