As a philanthropist, maybe. But as a CEO he's every bit as bad as Jobs was. You do remember how Microsoft climbed to the top in the late 90's, do you?
 
any "philanthropist" that still manages to accumulate even more billions in the process is a fraud, it's all just public relations spin to fool the public to his insatiable greed.

The guy has donated nearly $37 billion of his own money to charitable causes. $37 billion!

And you want to chastise him just because his investments keep paying off?

Insatiable greed? The guy's full time job is giving away money.

Don't even try reasoning with people like the person you quoted. They are consumed with low envy. No one is more obsessed with money than these types.

Sure, Microsoft was abusive with its market dominance and was convicted over anti-trust issues but they would have never been in that dominate position without first launching incredibly successful products like Windows 3, Windows NT and Windows 95. Before Windows 3 in 1990, Windows had never been commercially successful and Microsoft wasn't at all dominant in the computer OS space, though a major player.
 
It's always hilarious to see people bitching or complaining about how OTHER people spend THEIR money in a private setting.

If this was public tax money -- you have 100% right to bitch or complain whichever way you want the money to be spent. In this situation it's Bills money -- he could cash out millions every day and set the pile of money on fire if he wanted to. He might be in some legal trouble though if he made it known he was destroying currency (and actually helping deflate our over inflated dollar)

People talk about greed this, and greed that -- the true greed is shown with some of the ass hats here who "demand" he give away even more. Because "twenty billion just isn't enough".... seriously? These are the type of people who aren't happy unless someone is at or below their level, the people that won't be happy until they see bill gates shopping at walmart while wearing sweatpants and paying with food stamps.

Good for bill -- his full time job is giving away money. The amount is irrelevant - all that matters is that he's doing way way WAY more than you are.

I sure wouldn't mind him throwing even 100,000 dollars my way -- trying to buy my first ever home hah.
 
well don't forget that their (his and his wife's) charity foundation is worth almost $40 billion. yes it is more than few billionaire's investment but still he did donate big time for that foundation.

hack i would be happy if he pays for my school.
