I play games since Wolfenstein 3D and I can say that this is the best game ever.

Witcher 2 is back on sale on Steam - $7.99. Enjoy!
Storywise, is it necessary to play through the first game before playing this?
WTF, I was reading this thread page and saw that they released content on April 17th. I scrambled around wondering what I missed out on...."I didnt know they were releasing new content this month!!"
Turns out it was last year April 17th. gahhhhhhhhhhh
So can anyone chime in if this game is playable at any resolution with ubersampling (~60 avg) with the new Titan cards? I gotta have ubersampling on it looks so much better to me.
trolling?
Redkit is out: "REDkit is here! Download The Witcher 2 game editor & start making RPG adventures CD Projekt RED style!"
I can't run the game on max detail without thinking it feels choppy on my system. is there a command to view the FPS?
Disable ubersampling. It is basically a supersampling antialiasing, rendering the screen much higher resolution several times and antialiases the final screen from those. There is no supercomputer yet that can run game this pretty at steady 60fps with that kind of insane rendering.
*edit* Actually I wonder how well SLI Titan can handle it. Kyle! Or anyone at HardOCP, people must know!
When you disable ubersampling, you'll find that the game runs pretty well with most other settings cranked on newer hardware.
I'd personally also disable the "vignette" setting as well. That darkens the corners of the screen Mass Effect style. I find it distracting and annoying.
Is it a common problem that desktop operation is VERY slow for the 3 minutes or so after quitting Witcher 2?
Yes, you should go look why it was bumped :-p

so this is pretty much a mod that they decided to incorporate into the main game
Basically. The only difference is that the guy was already doing dev work for them, and had access to source and assets. So dev mod turned patch.
they would have been better off incorporating this mod into Witcher 1...the 2nd game already looked and played really well
