Metro: Last Light Discussion

TL;DR for lazies - Seems to like the game, hates the Ranger Mode DLC bullshit and also the linearity of the game. Thinks it's overall a better game than Bioshock Infinite.

He goes on about the lack of graphical options, which is somewhat understandable, but IIRC Metro 2033 didn't have all that many options. Like, it showed you the settings in detail in the menu but you only got to choose Low, Medium, High, Very High for overall graphical quality, same as this game.

I call bullshit on it being better than BI, but I'm sure it's a great game regardless. But it's his opinion, so to each their own.

Yeah, well I can't say obviously since I haven't played Metro LL yet but he didn't think too highly of Bioshock Infinite, whereas I really enjoyed it (despite the gunplay), so it's hard to say where Metro truly lies.

Also worth mentioning that TB is only about 4 hours into Metro LL.

For those who care about the 9UnPL4Y kevin from gamespot

I liked the first game--but I didn't love it. Is it a little less difficult to die? A little. But where I didn't particularly like the shooting and movement in the first game, Last Light feels good under my fingers.

Your browser probably cached the images from here as the bad ones and didn't reload them when you clicked the link. Do a shift-reload.

Ahh...weirdness. That seems to have worked...thanks!

Guess it makes sense because it's a TWIMTBP game, but nVidia seems to rape AMD in performance at the current moment.

Ahhhh

Shitty AMD performance and locked FoV makes me want to wait this out until either or both are fixed.

So who here is going to pay $50 or $60 for the game and who is going to wait till the game is bundled with a video card and sold on here for $20 for the code? And last but not least, who is going to wait till the game hits $5 on Steam (within 5 months or so)? LOL. :)

Generalized statement is general...

Somehow I have a feeling you have a 16:10 monitor :p

Nah, 16:9, but playing on any FoV under 80 gives me a headache. At least in the first Metro you could change it via ini file, doesn't seem to be the case with this one.

Sigh another PC port.

Locked FOV, Auto-aim turned on......Sad Sad Sad.

These guys could of taken notes from how Square Enix pleases PC users with game ports done right.

Looks like it is a canned benchmark not actual gameplay. Also if it is the same engine how is that the 680gtx performance is exactly the same as the original metro but the 7970 drops to by almost 20fps.

Getting good reviews so far. Pity my PC will probably choke, splutter and wheeze until eventually dying in a puddle of piss and gore after attempting to run it.

ARGH they still didn't fix the triple monitor mouse issue from 2033. Looks great, totally unplayable.

Man, mouse feels laggy, game is choppy as hell for me.

It's not even using but around 50% of my gpu either...

Running on a GTX 580 , 2600k, 8gb ram.

Was running on high (not very high), AA at just 4x, Tesselation to normal, physx on, and was just getting around 28-30fps.

This is on the newest beta nvidia drivers that are for Metro LL.

Using the new 320.14 driver and GTX Titan. Max settings with Advanced PhysX set On and SMAA 2x. Game is mostly smooth, but there does appear to be some stutter issues. Not sure if it is driver or game related. Maybe both.

That wouldn't happen to be 4x ssaa would it?

Nope, SSAA is turned to off.

There's definitely something wrong with this game, perhaps the new beta drivers.

The game NEVER uses more then 47% of my gpu and seems to be locked around 30fps.

Getting a ton of choppy/stuttering movement.

I got a question.. what are your settings to get your 3930k to 4.8ghz stable with an H60?

Anyone else getting mad flickering from the lighting reflections? Its quit annoying, running this a on single 7970. The game is quit demanding but it also doesn't seem to be optimized to well for AMD cards.

H60 is 2013 edition. Using latest BIOS. Vcore set to 1.375. Load line for cpu set to High. This keeps vcore below 1.4v. Hovers between 1.384-1.392 depending on load. Power current for cpu set to 130%. Vccsa load line set to Regular. Vccsa power current set to 130%. Cpu power duty set to t.probe. Clock gen filter enabled. Clock gen reset enabled.

Is there anywhere to set advanced options? Besides simply "low/normal/high/very high" there should be some advanced settings somewhere but I can't find them.

Even in the cfg file (which is in the games steam folder) I don't see it.

What are you showing me those pics for?

I'm talking about ADVANCED graphical options, IE the things that the game changes based on the "quality" setting, such as shadow detail , texture resolution, and other things.

I'm fully aware of all the very limited options in the games options menu.

um you said all you had was "low/normal/high/very high". as you can see there is AF, AA, tessellation, motion blur and physx. if you have those then you should have been clear. and no there are no more options than that. same was true for the first game other than the dof setting.

Been reading shadows don't render properly on 7000 series in DX11. You have to enable DX9 mode in the config ini.

My bad, poor wording on my part.

I'm talking about the more advanced setting sthat most pc games have, the things which the low/normal/high/very high change.

The last Metro game had a cfg to change more things around if I'm not mistaken, howevre the cfg in this one doesn't really list much.
