So, after a long wait I decided to chance it with newegg and buy this one. If you didn't know, Newegg was sending out the Revision 00 model of this instead of the revised firmware version 1.02. Luckily, I got the correct one. If you look at the last few reviews, they have as well. Keep in mind, I pretty much only game from this computer. I've never used a 120hz monitor so I can't compare. I'm upgrading from a HannsG 28'' 1920x1200 monitor, which was rated at 60hz as well. I can only compare 60/60hz as I've never tried 120hz.

Packaging -- Well secured in foam inserts as norm. It came with DualLink DVI, Power, USB, HDMI, and sound cables. Also, screws for the included stand; which is very sturdy for the small imprint it brings.

Assembly -- The only thing you have to assemble here is the stand and it's only two screws. Super simple.

Features -- The stand does provide tilt only. The OSD is activated by touch buttons on the bottom right underside of the monitor. The buttons are nicely labeled and function as one would expect and like. From within here, you can setup your color settings, Picture-in-Picture, and input selection. For more on this you can check out LG's site. There is a very very thin soft AG coating. I find it doesn't take away from the screen at all.

So that's the basic over-view. Now for my experiences/opinions:

I powered on the monitor using the included DVI cable. No issues at all, found the signal and even showed POST centered. While the machine was POST'ing, I saw the terrible thing we hate to see during black screens.... Stuck pixels. Everywhere. I counted about thirteen, but only about five are bothersome. I'll run the pixel flush over night in hopes it'll free them. I tried massaging them but still didn't help anything. There's one, bright ass lime green, in the middle of the screen. It just taunts me. Since there's not much I could do, I went ahead and loaded up some games. Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, TF2, and Smite. All worked fine. I didn't notice any ghosting. Image quality, since coming from a low end TN panel, I'm blown away. This monitor looking amazing. I'll link my steam profile if you want me to test any games, you can see if I have them. Let me know if you have any questions at all.

I'm about to get my second unit. First one had massive amount of bleed. Did you test yours for any backlight bleed?

Yep, uniform is perfect. Which sucks since, I'm going to end up having to exchange this one due to the stuck pixels and I'll probably get one that's not as well done.

Yeah too bad since getting a screen with no bleed takes a miracle

Yeah man, I'm totally on the fence about returning it or sucking it up. But I do hate shelling out $650 for a less than perfect product. What settings did you find you preferred on yours? Brightness/Contrast..ect

Well in the end i had to return mine almost immediately as i couldn't stand the horrendous bleed it had. If i remember right i liked most the "standard" preset and 50/50 for Brightness/Contrast

If i had the option of getting a 29'' VA panel i'd opted for the VA. They're so MUCH better panels. Zero bleed dead/stuck pixels, 4ms and insanely good blacks. Unfortunately i need something more, resolution wise, for my titans

Just ordered another one to see if it'll be any better. I'll return the worse one unless they're both defective.

Yeah, I just ordered another -- they were cool about it and price matched it to my previous order since it went up $50. If they're both as bad, I'll return both. I may try out a 120/144hz monitor to see if there's that much of a difference.

Why compromise? don't keep the worse one send both back if both defective.

keeping the better one gives you a reference point for comparison. if you return both of them, you can only compare the replacement with what you remember from memory instead of with an actual monitor. just keep returning the worse one of the two until you end up with a unit that satisfies you.

They have this monitor at Microcenter along with the new Dell 21:9 IPS. The viewable area is actually small. The height is that of a 15" 4:3 LCD but of course stretched out to be wide.

Very tiny. You would think 29" would be large but when you stretch it out it become very narrow and smallish. 21:9 would only work for something around 39 - 42" if you want a larger than life gaming experience.

It's too early for 39-42'' in a couple of years maybe

They've been out since I think 2010, Vizio and a few others, Philips perhaps.

So, I'll be ordering my Third one tonight. The first had a lot of dead pixels. I went ahead and just ordered another instead of RMA -- newegg was really cool on this and even adjusted the price since it's went back up in price. I just got the second in and it's got a dead pixel in the center, bright green and a dead pixel top center. They're allowing me to return this one as well and letting me order another for the original price. None so far have been flagged for restocking fee. I've been pleasantly pleased with their customer service.

Screenshots of video games played on a 21:9 monitor look impressive because they display peripheral imagery that you wouldn't be seeing within a less wide resolution. However, within many games it comes with a catch...menu boxes, HUDs, radar sections, health bars, mana bars, and the like frequently take a visual hit. These elements can appear distorted in size and/or moved around in such a manner that they obstruct the vision of other on screen elements.

I haven't had any issues with the disproportional HUD elements. But then again, I haven't really tried anything dated that wouldn't be horz+.

Sure, if you have any games you want me to test I'm open for it. I'll stream or take some screens for you. First post has my steam profile to see if I have the game. I'll try any F2P game with reason if you need one of those checked out as well.

Thank you for your offering to test some games for me Preyed, that's real nice of you.
My present monitor is a 16:10 H-IPS NEC2690WUXI Spectraview, NEC manufactured it with an ATW polarizer so I'm unlikely to give it up without good reason :).

Unfortunately after being used to a 26 inch 16:10 display I know I won't be happy with the smaller screen height of a 21:9 when I'm surfing the web..sigh.

I presume you know that the LG 29EA93 has had more than one firmware revision, the latest one being the version 1.25 - which is preferred over the 1.09 and its predecessors (dead pixels). Perhaps you would like to look over the 92 comments posted at the end of Anand's LG29EA93 revision1.25 review regarding the firmware issues.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6741/lg-29ea93-monitor-review-rev-125/2

It may be in your best interest to be contacting LG directly instead of NewEgg, while you are still under some sort of recently purchased replacement warranty. I would think that LG would be more likely to insure that you receive a 1.25 replacement than would NewEgg. Wishing you good luck!

is it basically a 30 inch monitor that has the top and bottom chopped off to make it cheaper?

Kinda, it's also longer, width wise, than a 30" monitor.

when i compared the width dimensions to a 30 inch monitor, they were within like a quarter of an inch of each other.

how much longer are they on average? the two examples i glanced at on newegg might not have been optimal.

This has been my biggest issue so far. On pages I wouldn't normally have to scroll -- I have to now. I mean I fit more pages side by side, but it's not the same. I personally didn't fully respect the vertical space of 1200p until moving to this 1080p. But I'm adjusting and coming from a subpar TN panel, it's a huge upgrade.

Just got this yesterday, and was able to check my firmware version on the service screen: it reads firmware ver. 1.17. Did not see a rev number on the back, but I'll look again to see if I missed it. Overall, much better than even the LG IPS 23" it replaces.

I see now it is Rev 00. Should I be worried? seems ok to me.

I returned all three of mine -- each one had dead/stuck pixels :(

Would like to say it was no hassle returns and refunds from Newegg. No restocking fee and free return shipping due to ShopRunner.

Not sure what I'll go for now -- Thinking about the 27'' PLS Samsung.

Just got mine today :D
It was manufactured in April 2013 and is listed as REV.01
-[EDIT]- Checked the installed firmware via the service menu and it's v1.43

- No dead/stuck pixels that I can see and only some very minor light bleed along the top edge of the panel (might even go away with some usage...)

So far I'm happy with it, but it is quite a change from my Dell U2711's

So yeah, first post but longtime lurker. :) I've been looking at getting a 21:9 display though after seeing some of the gaming shots.

Anyways, have any of you bought the 29EB93-P version of this display yet? It's on their commercial webpage, and has an adjustable stand (and costs more of course). Just wondering if the QC was better on those or not.

As an aside, I went and purchased the prad.de review of this monitor (<3 Google Translate). They got the same low input lag numbers as anandtech.com did for the v1.25 review - 1.5ms of processing / 7ms total lag. Their contrast values were > 1000 as well.

I thought I would throw that out there since I've seen a few people question the numbers in the review comments. Good times.

Hello again Preyed,
After deciding that the LG 29EA93-P 21:9 IPS wouldn't be to my liking I too desired a 27" PLS.
I purchased the Eizo EV2736 PLS, it is warrantied for 5 years.

Mine arrived with no dead/stuck pixels, no backlight bleed, uniform LED backlight dispersion, and zero back light fluttering. The panel is in their Flexscan series and is natively Standard Gamut (sRGB).

It runs cool and is a surprisingly slim 2.75 inches deep. It is solidly constructed on a sturdy stand that has an unusual hidden apparatus on the bottom that creates a vacuum that causes the stand to tightly grip your desk. It has built in swivel, tilt, and portrait view.

I have to thank Falconetti, in the EV2736 thread for putting me onto this display.

Price/Value/Warranty/Service:
You'll find quite a few [H]ard|Forum display owners recommending the ViewSonic 27" PLA over the Eizo claiming that the Eizo is more expensive than the Viewsonic. However, the pricing on the Eizo has leveled off and you can find it on Amazon for $830 while the ViewSonic VP2770-LED is priced on Amazon for $715. That's only a $115 difference for a display with excellent quality control and 5 year warranty. I purchased my Eizo 2736 plus an i1Display Pro1 from PCM.com. I've done business with them before, they have great after sales support. One of their nearby warehouses had the items in stock. I received the monitor and coloromiter the day after ordering, in perfect condition.

For spot on sRGB color accuracy colorometer calibration is recommended. The Eizo does not have any of the reported bleeding or anywhere near the quality issues that other 27" PLA displays have reported. The EV2736 has a light anti-glare coating, no PWM flickering, and no backllight bleeding, you can confirm this in any review or with any owner.

Technical stuff: I purchased an X-Rite i1Display Pro 1 colorometer to go with it and calibrated the display to create a CIE D65 whitepoint, 120 cd/m3 luminance, Native Ratio (it recalibrated to a 901:1 ). All targets were met including the 2.20 color accuracy gamut as well as an ICC Version 4 profile using their table based LUT. I then had Windows Color Manager default the ICC profile it created and set the software to remind me to calibrate it every 4 weeks.
