Should I stay with iPad... or SGN 10.1?

My father just got a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (32gb) tablet as a gift and doesn't need it so he's passing it on to me. Right now I have an iPad 3, 16gb, AT&T running iOS 5.1.1. I love the iPad but I've been running into some issues that are making me think I should keep the SGN 10.1 and sell the iPad...

I got the 16gb iPad planning to stream all my video from home, and I certainly have the bandwidth on my cellular connection, but my home connection has recently developed issues, so streaming is no longer an option and with 12gb of music and quite a few apps, I don't have room for so much as 1 movie on it... So I'm looking very hard at the SGN 10.1's "expandable storage" since I have two 32gb MicroSDHC (one being a Sandisk Ultra) cards...

Also, recently for no discernible reason, my itunes library VANISHED. Literally I boot up my PC and launch iTunes, and it's empty. Videos, Music, and Apps, all gone. I think "well I'll just scan my music folder again" (since I keep it all in one place) and now I RANDOMLY have 2 of *some* of my music, I'd guess around 10-15% (but when we're talking 6,000 songs, that's a LOT of files to filter through) until I finish that, I cant sync my iPad (or iPhone) so I cant add music/videos except through 3rd party apps like iFileExplorer, which drains my battery like mad when I use it. I hate having to waste this time, especially when I've got 10 new files to sync, and I dont know how often this is going to happen...

Thirdly, and this is not major but is annoying, is dealing with making sure I keep all my SHSH blobs so I can upgrade to specific jailbreaks (I dont have the 5.1.1 blobs :( but I have the 6.1 which is JB-able) since android doesn't have this issue, it would be a nice relief.

On the other Paw...

The main use I have for my iPad is media and web browsing. The main features I need are (1) on the go videos (it needs at least 5 hours of battery life playing video and/or surfing the net) and (2) Airplay to my AppleTV... I've read very mixed reviews on whether the SGN 10.1 can connect over Airplay... especially since the adapter cable is $50 (and ironically I can get an android "system on a stick" running plex for less than that...)

I also have $50 or so of credit in the itunes store, which is swaying me a little, but since I didnt pay for it in the first place (got it for buying an iPad during the "back to school" promo and from sites like FreeMyApps) and all the apps I want are free on android, it's not a big deal...

So, Should I stick with my ipad (or sell it and buy a larger one, which I fear will have the same effect eventually of "sell and buy a yet larger one") or should I sell it and go with the SGN 10.1?

I've been in a similar situation and it was partly the ecosystem, iMessage, and general iCloud integration that kept me with the iPad. Plus iOS really does just feel so much more fluid with tablets although if iOS 7 doesn't impress, my opinion could change. Another option could be to sell the Samsung and your iPad, then buy an iPad with more storage.

My personal phone is the Galaxy Nexus and I have an iPhone 5 through my work, I really just find myself using the G-Nexus less and less though.

Well, you now have access to the Samsung Galaxy Note, why not use it for 2 weeks before you decide to sell one or the other (or both)?

Also, why haven't you just decided to delete your entire library and resync it to get rid of duplicates? (Just do it before you go to sleep so you don't have to watch/wait for it)

yeah... I'm in the air eith ecosystem, I have iPad, iPhone and Apple TV, and I'm considering selling the iPhone and going with a SGN2 because of the same jailbreak issues and battery life (the SGN2 may not have better battery but it can be swapped out) along with MicroSD capability... (not to mention for what I'd get/pay I could easily swap out both the ATV and the iPhone) I'm considering the "sell both and buy a larger iPad" but I'm also looking at the USB Host feature of the SGN 10.1 that would let me hook up things like a keyboard, flash drive, or game controller... I'm going to have to do a lot of testing when I get it to see how well these features really work... (since my last android tablet was a bit of a joke with keyboard compatibility...)

I test-drove the SGN2 for two weeks and stayed with the iPhone (mainly because I didnt want to hassle with exchanging the SGN2 (bad ESN) and the selling the iPhone since it served my needs) I've used android in the past and as far as the interface itself I dont really mind it OR iOS, it's mainly the per-device features/shortcomings that make the decision for me.

I dont have it just yet, he's out of town visiting a vendor (who gave him the tablet) and wont drop it off till Wed., and if there was some huge flaw (like on my old TF 101 where typing lagged about 10 letters behind the KB and the cursor jumped all over the screen while typing) then there's no point in breaking the seal and just sell it as "band new unused" Otherwise I'm planning on doing this.

That's what I think caused the problem, for some unknown reason iTunes deleted my library and when I re-scanned it, that's when I randomly had 2 copies of some of my songs. I'll try again tonight since I have nothing to lose but I suspect the same thing's going to happen again... (and I still cant figure out what triggered it the first time)

EDIT:
Just to clarify, the 2 random copies of my music was on the PC --- not the phone, the phone has been fine, it's the PC that decided to lose the library then randomly duplicate song entries. (desktop in my sig if that matters)

The iPad has better apps and better hardware. I'd stick with it unless there is something specific to the 10.1 that you really need. You did say that you don't really use apps, so...

iPad is pretty good. I have got used to.

I was in the same boat as you, kind of. I could have bought a Samsung galaxy note 10.1 or an iPad. I chose the iPad so that i could be in one ecosystem. I've owned countless android phones and a few android tablets. I love the iPad and I don't think I will switch.

I have a 3 year old iPad 1. Still works perfectly, and the battery is still at full strength. Must have got a really good one :)

I just went through this today. The iPad 1 went on a gooseneck stand by the bed, and I needed a new general purpose one.

It was down to the Nexus 10 and the iPad 4. iPad 4 was $100 more.

I walked out of BB this evening with the iPad 4.

Fast little son of a gun ! Display is delicious.

I actually had an iPad1 I gave to my mother when I got my iPad3, last I heard it's battery was still working fine (but sadly it had gotten too slow for the apps she wanted so she upgraded and sold it)

I should have updated this thread, I decided to go with the SG Note 10.1 - the power and the new 'window' functions really cinched it (not to mention all the problems I saw back on Honeycomb have been sorted out with Jellybean)

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and thoughts though :)

Update...

I took back the iPad 4 and got the nexes 10.

Loved the hardware, hated the rounded edge. Found it uncomfortable with that new design :(
