Are non-reference TITANS coming?

right now they have only a reference (stock) Titan card for sale.

do you think there are going to be advanced models? like with improved cooling, beefed up OC, etc ?
 
As of right now, nVidia is building the cards and only allowing partners to brand them. There may be non-reference versions in the future yet I haven't heard or seen any supporting information.
 
There was some verbage in the nvidia press release about letting AIB partners select what features they wanted on their respective cards......so I think you'll eventually see some modifications.
 
If EVGA gave the titan an updated classified cooling solution(bigger radial fan) it would probably push me to make an extremely irresponsible financial decision.:eek:
 
I think some time in the future they are gonna remove the power draw limit therefore drastically increasing the OC potential. Think of it as Titan v2

You do realize all titan cards will be the exact same? Doesn't matter if you try to watercool, or put a different cooler on it.

They are all bound to 265w MAX TDP. Which means they will NEVER Go above that much power....doesnt matter what you do.

If you get a titan now, or 5 months from now....They will all clock close with each other.

Titan cannot and will not cross this limit, as it’s built into the firmware of the card and essentially enforced by NVIDIA through their agreements with their partners. This TDP limit is 106% of Titan’s base TDP of 250W, or 265W. No matter what you throw at Titan or how you cool it, it will not let itself pull more than 265W sustained"

yeah but they might remove the TDP cap in the future and release a beefed up version of Titan

Do you have any proof of that? Other then yourself saying they will?

If they wont do it to the 600 series? Why would you think they would do it to titan?

It's basically almost the same as 690, it seems.
 
Sounds like unlocking the core voltage will be up to the board partners according to Guru3D.

The GeForce GTX Titan is designed to be overclocked. Nvidia has received a lot of heat when they started limiting voltages. Obviously they have done so in order to prevent high RMA rates. For GeForce GTX Titan this changes. At default your card will be locked at a maximum Core voltage of 1.162 mV.

Now read this very carefully, the board partners like MSI, EVGA and others get to decide whether or not you may unlock Voltage control. Inside the Nvidia driver, you can opt to unlock voltage by agreeing towards an EULA acknowledgement. That EULA will try to make you understand that applying higher voltages will decrease the lifespan of the product. So if the GeForce GTX Titan has been build for a theoretical 5 years productivity at 1.162 mV then tweaking voltage towards 1.20~1.250 mV could half that lifespan. Now unlocking the Voltage will not result in loosing your warranty, let me be very clear about it. However, if you have a 2 year warranty and after 3 years the card dies as a result of voltage tweaking and thus the reduced lifespan... that would be the consequence.

EVGA puts a sticker on a GPU made by someone else, then puts it in a box with their name and logo on it.

Sometimes they increase the core clock 25-50 MHz over reference (the same thing you or I can do with Afterburner) call it "superclocked", put that card in a differently labelled box, and charge 50 dollars more.

EVGA doesn't make anything. It's like saying Apple makes good iPhones or iPads.......try again, FoxConn makes all things apple.
yes, they are a fine company who stands behind their products and has a pretty good customer service department.

I've owned a number of EVGA parts and have never had any problems.

they said there wouldnt be a classified version.
 
So far its sounding like the water cooled one will be around $1300.

Actually, they make a fair bit. Or design it, what ever you would like to call it. Such as their pcb's for several cards, may it be the FTW edition or other, especially the enlarged PCB ones. They also design coolers for their cards. They dont produce it in house, but no company does these days.

Does this mean Titan Lightning and/or Titan Classified coming ???
Guru3D is quite contradicting from AnandTech. Confusing..

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Guru3D's been pretty reliable from my experience.

You can adjust the voltage on the Titan its true. But lets say you put it to 1.2v. The card itselfs downclocks to reach its 265W TDP Limit.

So yes you can voltage tweak etc etc, but are limited

evga said that what was listed on there titan page were the only ones coming. and the classified was not on that page.

with evbot port gone. i dont see any classifieds making a comeback. (just my opinion)

ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI would have an argument with that.:D

Swiftech designs the EVGA coolers....they used to use DangerDen.

That would be worth buying............but I'd bet unfortunately it's over 1K....:eek::eek::eek:

That verbiage is what is posted from the website you linked.
If you took a look at the ACTUAL report, it never mentions a custom PCB, it meerely says that it will demonstrate the latest TITAN (which is probably only the reference one since its only 4 days old) and their record breaking lightning lineup.

Do I want to be completely wrong about this? YES. But nothing seems to point toward custom TITANS. Everything seems to point to the reference one only.

HOWEVER, I do see the different partners putting their own cooling solutions on the REFERENCE PCB.

First I never linked to a website. Second you don't have to come off as an a-hole. It's not needed in the forums and I'm tried of seeing threads locked because of it. Yes I copied and pasted the authors thoughts and it wasn't from the official MSI press release. I figured that was pretty much self explanatory.

Now lets keep this on topic and believing there will be non-reference titans.

Honestly this ENTIRE thread is speculation, so it necessarily has to be taken as such.



You need to climb off the high horse.;)

I could care less what happens to this Titan. For all I know it could shoot fire out the ass end, and frankly should for 1K............I'll never own one, so I'll never know.

Again this is merely conjecture, not the gospel according to NVidia.............and should be taken as such.:D

I guess my capitalizing the word "actual" made me seem like an ass. Sorry bout that.

No mention of a custom titan. Just read up some stuff on the EVGA forums and it looks like Nvidia might allow custom cooling solutions (which would explain EVGA being able to sell the waterblock'd TITAN) but no custom PCB's.
 
All Titan's are the same, no custom PCB's. This thread has no point.
