Bungie: 'Nobody Plays Shooters With A Mouse And Keyboard'

Anybody can I use a mouse to play dust 514 and i can move and aim way faster than the console noobs with there fucking analog sticks and turn aounrd faster and any other game I used the dramcast mouse on.

It is obvious who is using fucking game pads they cant aim, turn around fast enough and jerk all over the place.

Oh and goldeneye sucked balls and did all the aiming for you even worse than halo or any other console noob fps did.

Exactly.Years ago I would've cared now I have so many games to play.Really, who cares? Most of the games coming out now,are "oh hell yeah" going downhill quality wise.

Eh, I got good with either control method for FPS games. I got UT3 for cheap for PC and later for the Xbox 360 and learned the controls on both versions.

Now if I want a challenge for the 360 version, I set up a match with bots set to godlike. Mostly because no one is playing the damn game anymore.

9 pages in and people are still saying shit like this:

I'm fairly sure i can wipe my ass with a console player (wihtout aim assist) iwht my KB/M

It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that you can pwn people using a controller with your leet gaming mouse.

Crap... messed up the tags.

expect nothing less from a company that originally hyped halo for pc back in the day.. then sold out to MS and the crap box. I play with an MS controller on my pc, but not FPS games. that is just silly!
that kind of narrow thinking is why the console game levels/games are so dumbed down.
oh well. quote from south park. "you'll buy it.. what ever!"

That is what I was thinking. The vast majority of gamers, especially if you use their previous market (Halo fans) do not use keyboards and mice to play FPS. Ever since Bond for N64, consolers have adopted the gamepad for their FPS fix. So he is right. It's just who exactly does he mean by, nobody.

Us PC gamers are not the majority. Nope. So when a statement like this is made, understand what it means to the whole world and not just your world. Bungie's Halo franchise cemented the popularity of the gamepad based FPS.

Nope, he is totally wrong. Nobody has adapted, because nobody plays a FPS title on a pc with a pad. On a console? Oh, are there any mouse and keyboard for console? There aren't (or aren't used), which means that your point is moot.

At the end of the day, people will adapt if there is anything to get adapted to. A console can't adapt to anything since there is no choice: either you play Halo with your pad... or you don't at all, which is why this is the shittiest comment ever.

Should they talked about using a wheel + clutch for driving games then he'd be totally right... because all the platforms can use such thing. But talking about a console FPS game and not using keyboard and mouse is simply... retarded

Halo was originally a Mac game. If Bungie didn't sell out to MS, Halo would likely have come out on the Mac instead.

i do remember that. but they teased us (pc gamers) big time with a movie trailer.. then dropped us like a red headed step child.
either way, they sold out imop.
dont blame them though. go where the money is.

You have no idea what your talking about. You obviously can use a keyboard and mouse on most of the current consoles.

Back when I was in school we only had Macs, and Marathon was by far the best multiplayer FPS we could get to run in the computer lab. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Bungie thanks to Marathon.

without some nonsense adapter?

They already have usb ports. Just let me plug in my mouse and keybaord, and then i'll finally be able to play some games with my friends.

However, co-op gaming is also becoming rather rare on consoles. Who even has 4 controllers anymore?

Uncharted 3, Killzone 3, Borderlands 1/2, L4D 1/2, Halo series, Army of Two series, Gears of War, Portal 2, Rayman Origins, Lego games...there are co-op games out there ;)

I do, which is the reason I stated that

"there aren't (or aren't used) which for the discussion sake is the same".

If you have nothing to say in regards to my statement and have to nitpick things I didn't even mean (and specified against such wrong-meaning) by all means: STFU.

K/M will always win. I swear a game was in development to be cross-platform. They cancelled the cross-platform feature due to it being too un-balanced for gamepad players. Or in other words, they were getting their ass beat in beta play testing and it wasn't "fun" enough.

Shadowrun and Halo 2 are both cross-platform play. A lot of people forget this.

MS screwed the pooch on both. It was during a time when Vista release was a flop, and MS decided that these 2 games were VISTA ONLY compatible. Eventually cracks were released to play on XP, but it was too late. The franchise floundered and died. MS also disbanbeded the Shadowrun dev team immediatly after the first patch was released. No warning. Dev teams were talking about realing new maps, future DLC, etc, then BAM! They were disbanded and shipped off to other projects without warning. It only came with 9 maps (and some of those were just copies of the larger map, just made smaller). There was NO single player campaign, only practice bot matches offline.

It also required you to have a MS Gold account at the time. So yes, you HAD to pay MS monthly fee to play against x-box users. The Silver account just allowed you to play against other PC players.

Bottom line, the game had so many thing going against it that wasn't the dev teams fault as to why it failed.

The game itself was pretty innovative. It was the first to do things other FPS shooters haven't done (besides cross-platform play), such as teleporting through walls or floors, seeing through walls, etc. Tactically, it was a fun, addictive game. It also had little to NOTHING to do with the actual Shadowrun license. It would have been better accepted if they just named it something complete different.

As far as Controller vs KB/M, the dev team DID officially say there was a handicap for KB/M players. Controllers got aim-assist. KB/M players got a larger gun firing bloom (made less accurate).

I also played a little Halo 2 cross-platform, but was totally boring compared to Shadowrun FPS.

My favorite gun when they ported halo over to PC was the pistol. That's the most powerful weapon in the game if you have a mouse and keyboard.
I just logged onto multi and was surprised how popular the game is. Def one of my favorite experience for a PC FPS in multi.

Dude, Halo PC is very popular still. For the record, I play first-person games with my 360 controller, except for competitive shooters. Skyrim just plays better with the controller, unless you're a mage.

I was responding to Prava when he said: "Oh, are there any mouse and keyboard for console? There aren't (or aren't used)" He is wrong saying there arn't mouse and keyboards available for consoles. This is completely untrue.
