It's Gearbox, so not much better.

We're still waiting for the fuck-broken inventory in Borderlands 2 to get fixed...
 
as far as graphics, I think the gameplay videos that have been released this far have been console builds so hopefully the PC version will have some significant optimizations...that being said you would think Gearbox would want to release that info to the public like they did with Borderlands 2
 
Yeah, I'm hoping...or that it will be possible to mod it with high-res textures (UE3 engine and all that). If they released mod tools I think it could be epic.
 
Got it preloaded on steam too...Can't wait..Just contemplating whether I should play through the campaign solo or coop...I like sp as I can take my time and explore and check out every nook and cranny....That said, killin' xenomorphs with other ppl and running around and screaming like little bitches sounds like fun 2! =)

Well, based solely on my recent experience with Borderlands 2 I can say its definitely a lot more exciting playing with other people, though the solo thing and taking your time exploring without people racing ahead is one I"ll fall back to if random pubs start getting on my nerves.

I've got my fingers crossed that the "drop-in co-op" mechanism in this game will be at least as good as BL2, and if it is then it will definitely be adding to the gameplay.
 
Well crap, I tried and tried but I couldn't resist, so I'm preloading on Steam right now. Even if the game is crappy, at least it's a cool way to re-enter the world of Aliens again. And drop-in campaign co-op is always good.
 
I think I'm going to *wait* on this until it is released, before purchasing. I've bought many games where there is an Aliens franchise in it where the multiplayer just died out so fast.

I loved all the AvP games...plus I managed to get it for ~$30 awhile back on GMG. Had a 35% off code for a pre-order use and this appealed to me more than anything else.

Not too worried about being out $30.

We need to get some co-op going for sure!

I'm a diehard aliens fan since I was a kid. I've seen all the movies probably 30 or 40 times even seen the 4th one a number of times.

For some reason I'm more excited about this entry than Rebellions. The 10 minute playthrough really sold me where as for some reason I stopped playing maybe 5 minutes into R-AVP. I only recall thinking it was the exact same as AVPII

I was wondering that, too. However after watching some of that 2-hour IGN video, I think it might be because you can get upgrades later on for larger magazines (making it 99 like it's supposed to be, maybe?).

Either that, or it's probably a balance issue (or both).

I agree that it is a bit odd, though, considering canon tells us the magazine is 99 rounds (which for those tiny magazines I always thought was strange in the first place).

I'll reserve judgement for when I actually play it, but they could have just made it have 99 rounds and make the bullets weaker.

Well, it seems like something "that basic" could easily be fixed with a patch, if it becomes a sticking point for fans.

The "crying" is pretty well founded. People in Australia (where the game is released on steam right now), cannot play the game because it was uploaded with no .EXE.

What a blunder.

And you guys are just shrugging off every issue with this game. It's ironic, considering every game that comes out has a minor flaw and people shit their pants about it. But in this case, there are glaring problems and people continually make excuses.

sounds like you'd fit right in over there, stop your trolling. no one is forcing your hand to buy the game. if you don't like what you see move on then and be done with it....
 
As far as I know none of us have even played the game yet so it's kind of hard to say what "issues" there actually are with it.

I agree with you about the 40 rounds thing but I'm not going to just write the game off because of some insignificant bullshit like that.

EDIT: As for the Australia thing...it's shitty, they fucked up, but shit happens. Same thing more or less happened with Dead Island...I was pissed about it because I pre-ordered, but I gave the game a shot and it ended up being decent. Not GOTY but a fun game in the end (after some patches as well).
