Anonymous is out in full force in retaliation against a government agency they hold responsible for the death of Internet activist Aaron Swartz. The site has been breached and contents removed with Anonymous threatening to go public with all of the classified information. Anonymous has ominously labeled the present attack “Operation Last Resort’. Thanks to all who sent in links.
 
Unfortunately this is the type of thing that will make the people responsible for the overboard prosecution feel justified.

But then again we obviously have an administration that doesn't know what accountability means and from what I can tell the person responsible for the prosecution is a rising political star. So nothing will happen them.
 
They've been mostly ignored as an annoyance, the more the push the govt. the more of them that will end up in jail.
 
Maybe a little more serious then "Script kiddies" down in Mom and Dads basement?
 
meh -- with the way our government acts... saying one thing and doing another. I really don't mind seeing all their dirty secrets get exposed.

"Transparency" is something they hate. Shine a light on an issue and watch politicians scatter like roaches.

I can easily see the government pounding on an ordinary citizen twisting words and actions till they crumble in the manner as this fellow did.

In a perfect world -- every action/thought/vote/and dollar spent by a public official would be accounted and made available to the public. Of course we are moving to the type of system to where simply knowing what public elected officials are up to will be a crime.
 
I'm neither sorry nor worried about saying I think the US GOV (ESPECIALLY THE CIA/NSA/Corrupted elite/etc) are (to a growing degree) out of control & bending way too far in the direction of corrupted & tyrannical myself. That said these Anon fucks better not release anything that makes the world worse off. Hurting "the people" makes me think this isn't actually a tool against the GOV but instead a tool by the GOV (CIA/NSA) they're using to promote more unjust laws. Anything bad done online will be an act of terrorism soon!

Stuff that just embarrasses or sheds light on those in power that are corrupted without putting the lower people on the ladder or "the people" in danger, fine, but if it hurts everyone but the corrupted then fuck that, Anonymous IS the CIA then.

Sunlight kills mold. Listing EVERYTHING (literally every possible important thing) as protected under "national security" is the perfect guise for corruption. Checks and balances, checks and balances. Do it!

Well, you're right - all of this could be orchestrated (without the knowledge of all the volunteers) by some government agencies, even international ones. But we all know who controls them anyway.

I say do it. Release all obtained documents, whatever they are. I hope those "script kiddies" manage to cover themselves. Not everyone of them is famous as Assange, and look what happened to him. Unknowns are going to get raped badly if they get caught.
 
Anonymous has done this in the past. Wasn't there a cop that had his personal email released publicly, and it turns out he's a racist asshole?

problem is, people will just call you a whack job, nut head, crack pot because the government is perfect and would never turn to what Hitler, or Stalin and various other dictators have done in the past and did the same thing current government is doing, in the same order... did to it's country, even though they are already heading in that direction, but people just blow it off like "that wont ever get voted in!"

Trying to kill the 2nd , limiting ammo, shutting down local business like Raw milk factories suddenly claiming they are not safe with no actual proof and going after various other small business so in the end it is Government and Big corporations running the world.

1 Year ago, I would have asked for evidence, but wholly believed in at least the possibility you were correct.

I don't believe anon has shit. If they did, they would have released it. Plain and simple. My guess is that they have some data, of some sort. But nothing that is going to mean much of anything to most people. A bluff. One doomed to failure the moment they made it. The government will use it to make ever more draconian laws. I almost think some alphabet organization inside the US government is really behind anon. False flags seem to be the norm these days. Look at Sandyhook.
 
Here's the problem: this kind of thing gives substantial justification, whether logical or not, for more SOPA/PIPA type legislation. The more Anonymous tries to up its bona fides as an anarchist criminal organization, the more people can be convinced to go along with "anti-terror law" in the form of some bill that will inevitably restrict our freedoms on the internet.

So you're not speaking the norm (what's familiar) or with the normally loudest microphone (President, authority, news, etc) = You're wrong! Until you're finally proven right which by then you won't care...lol. Like how it takes water to erodes rock, okay not that long, it happens, just....not quick enough.

Example: A lot of people I've seen (too many at least, especially in a group setting) think most/all/too many Muslims should be wiped off the face of the Earth because they're ALL terrorists in some form (all while NOT realizing they'd fight back too if put in a similar situation). By the way, a friend of mine that is a police officer (white male, 30's, married, college education, etc) said this very thing to me too.

It's embarrassing, and will certainly work against him. What if anonymous has evidence that politicians are fucking each other gangnam style? Does that mean they aren't doing their job? What if some of them are pedophiles? Point is it would be embarrassing, and carrier changing.

So personal embarrassment is worth...what? Again, it proves nothing about how they carry out their jobs, and while I'm about as much a fan of politicians as I am of stomach cancer, what does this sort of thing achieve? Now, you might say "it reminds them that they're being watched", but at this stage of the game, their Twitter shots of their crotches are small potatoes. What is more important is exposure of programs like Fast and Furious, or the lies regarding the Benghazi attack. That should be the kind of thing Anonymous exposes, not their porno rentals.

What they need to do is: find a way to gradually reduce the number of bullets that come out of those guns, and also to shorten their range.

Their point, is that anon is doing nothing but sabre rattling. They are not actually exposing much of anything. They are making a big stink that lets the freedom grabbers point and say, "see, look, these people are out of control we need to get tough and (insert new ridiculous freedom grabbing law here) on these cyber terrorist!"

The point is that anon is speeding up the process of the theft of our rights, and not exposing anything of value in return.
If they actually exposed something of value, I might think differently.

I wouldn't support a ban on guns, but your claim that large clips keeps America safe from the government is total laughable. That was true when the weapons of the military were the same as the weapons of the people, but that hasn't been true for at least 100 years. even if you could legally buy a F16, you couldn't afford it, much less fly it. Maybe it's just me, but I'm perfectly fine with not letting people own nukes, grenades, tanks and so on.

The erosion of the 4th amendment over the last 40 years is far greater than the 2nd.

This is where I stand these days.

I say, open everything. Make the government accountable. This way stupid decisions will be made public, which will ultimately result less stupid actions / decisions being made.

I might would agree, but the whole thing with Wikileaks, Assange, Megaupload, Dotcom says otherwise. It's not anon speeding up the process, anon is the result...not the cause. From what I've read, they ARE giving something of value. That value is the reason certain things are happening.

All you need is an assault rifle. It's the primary weapon that has helped third world nations resist the most powerful governments for the last several decades. We failed in Iraq and Afghanistan, because our military could not suppress their insurrection.

Sandy Hook wasn't, but Fast and Furious was, and it has been confirmed that internal ATF memos indicated that the primary reason for the operation was to provide context for gun legislation in the United States. False flags are known American tactics by now. Look up Operation Northwood, as well as McNamara's admission that the Tonkin Gulf incident was faked to start the Vietnam War.
