Game Stock Car, PC racing sim....

OMG, sweet news dude... Sunday drive time!

Get the DEMO - you will thank THE DEVELOPER!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish the old rFactor tracks could be used with AI & physics mods by this DEV

I thought a guy got Laguna Seca working & some other conversions, but I can't find that forum ATM.

Anyone on the fence about buying GSC 2012... It is an amazing sim at an unbeatable price. Just buy it asap

I'll second that.
Excellent physics.
Excellent FFB, especially weight transfer.
Very good sounds as well.
3D car modelling is also excellent.

I think there's Road America and a few other yankee tracks as well+Bathurst!!

I want SHIFT 2 with GTR controls and physics, why can't someone produce that? The SHIFT games had the best sound/graphics/camera "make-you-feel-like-you're-racing" of any racing game I've ever played, but I couldn't get any of the faster cars to drive in a straight freaking line. Really a shame.

The problem is in it being geared towards the consoles, iRacing looks good, but the monthly fee for a racing game rubs me the wrong way.

Looking forward to the final release of Rfactor2, looks good already.

Come on guys, get a G27, GSC 2012 and dl some of these awesome tracks, it's only $20!!
Obviously G27 will work well with other games, but only PC sims work at their peak, ie, you'll get first rate FFB and steering precision with most PC sims, but multiplatform racing games usually have a variety of issues.

GSC 2012 wins racing game of the year for the second time at Racedepartment forums.
F1 2012 was a close 2nd.

Do you race online Frog2?
What servers do you usually run on?
Are you a Frenchie - or - what time zone are you in?

We should schedule some [H] racing this weekend!
- I am testing a dedicated server right now called [H]ard Racing.

All systems are GO!!!!
- I will leave it running online until 9pm CST

If you have a chance try it, please let me know how it worked for you!
- were you able to join OK, good connection, etc.

I just tried to join my dedicated & it says - JOIN TIMED OUT.

I can join other peoples games online just fine...

I am going to try hosting w/ out the dedicated now.

EDIT - that worked just fine...

Maybe I'll try running the dedicated server on my other PC...
- some day... I am moving this weekend!

Hi talk2troy.

I'm an Australian living in Australia, but I'm working over the weekends atm, so wouldn't be able to have much of a fiddle till Monday.

For the second consecutive year it was Reiza Studios with their PC simulator Game Stock Car 2012 taking the award back to Brazil as they got the most votes from the community (43.9%) but with only four votes less it was Codemasters Racing's yearly Formula One title F1 2012 - The Game in a respectable second position (43.1%). Newcomers on the podium are SCS Software with Euro Truck Simulator 2 (4.8%).

If any race sim fan on here doesn't have GSC 2012 yet check out these videos I made against the AI at 105%. It's probably the best AI I've ever raced against. They do a really good job of racing in a pack without hitting you or each other. What sim do you guys think has the best AI?

I thought this crash looked kinda cool too.

GCS 2012 is seriously an amazing sim overall. I'm glad there's some love for it on here because it's definitely underrated.

What about an older game? Something that runs on WinXP or older.

Nascar preferred, but will try Indycars. Even a demolition derby like game would be ok.
Keyboard steering preferred, don't have a wheel anymore. I free or trial demo is a must have.

What are my options?

rf1 demo sux with a wheel, not sure about a KB.

Is the demo not as good as the full rFactor release? Or do you have to add a lot of mods to get it running well? I thought GSC was closely related to rFactor.

GSC 2012 is built on the rF1 engine - try the DEMO:

The FLATOUT games are a hoot!

It's not NASCAR - it's more like Dukes of Hazzard...

The guys at RaceDepartment just ran NASCAR 2003 for X-mas...

There is also a game called ARCA Sim Racing:

Don't want to go off topic but this seems like the best place to ask. Can you recommend a wheel? I can get a t500 for 399 at frys plus I have about 100 bucks in gift cards. Missed out on the 199 g27 deal on amazon but I can get frys to price match amazon and maybe get it for around 250. Are there any other ones I should look at?

The Fanatec wheels also seem to have good reviews. If you can wait, I think Amazon regularly drops the price on the G27. I've seen the same sale price at least 2 or 3 times in the past month or two.

I have most of the SimBin games and I've been trying the GSC 2012 demo. I'm holding off on rFactor until rF2 is closer to final release. I'm also looking forward to see how Assetto Corsa turns out.

I owned a $75 Logitech MOMO before & currently have a G27 + Playseat.
I wish I could have skipped my $75 MOMO's, but my only option then was a G25 @ $300

I am very happy w/ my G27 & playseat today.
If you want to race NOW - buy it NOW - but if you are busy & can let it wait - then wait.

I've had to wait for CPU's & Vid-Cards to drop in price before...
When I've had the cash & made the jump to new (well researched) hardware - I never regretted it!

Have you ever seen these guys reviews?

Thanks for the input, looked at the Fanatec wheels but I am concerned about the reliablilty and customer service. Do you have one or have experience with them. I know most of the posts on reviews are usually negative cause the people with bad experiences are a little more vocal. Their pricing isn't too bad though, was looking at the Forza Motorsport CSR Wheel value pack XL US ($359.95) but out of stock until Feb 5.
But also saw that it might be better to buy them individually and get the CSR Elite Pedals since they have Load Cell in them. I have never had a racing wheel and pedals so I don't know how important that is.

I do keep kind of going between the G27 and the T500 RS just because I have gift cards to Frys for about a $100 and they have the G27 for $299.99 but would see if they would price match amazon's current $254 price. Also they have the T500 RS for only $399 and I noticed it is closer to $600 everywhere else. I also figured if I had problems in the first 30 days it would be easier to do a return or exchange if there was a defect cause I have read about defective wheels/pedals with just about every brand and model.

Thanks again for the input guys. Gonna keep researching and hopefully figure out something tomorrow cause I really want a wheel :D

No, I'm just starting out with a DFGT. The G27, T500 RS and Fanatec are the big three models/brands I see mentioned in wheel discussions.

I have a Fanatec CSR and Elite pedals and the quality and features are definitely a big step above Logitech (had a G27 v1 in the past), but they're not terribly well made and I'm going to have to replace the wheel after only 1.5 years (of hours-per-day-average sim racing, to be fair) because one of the FF motors is dying/dead. 1 year warranty sucks, but what are you going to do? There's very few other similar options at the price point.

The load cell brake is great in the Elite pedals, and the quality and construction is much better than the wheel. They're a much bigger step above G27 pedals than the wheel is, and I'd recommend using a Logitech based wheel + Fanatec CSR Elite/Clubsport pedals long before I'd recommend using a Fanatec wheel with logitech pedals.

GSC is in another league, but the cars in the rf1 demo suck and did nothing to compel me any further, granted the mods are more than likely very good, but I had RACE07/GTR EVO etc, so just stuck with that.

I didn't know who Neils H was, and didn't know he made some mods for rf1, had I known this, I would've bought it regardless of how bad the demo was:cool:
