Steam 2012 Christmas sale is here! runs from Dec 20- Jan 6

I can see how it is addicting. Started playing it earlier, "just for a minute". Two hours later.....

Yeah, same thing happened to me this morning. I was supposed to go up to the DMV early in the morning to renew my registration and avoid lines. Before I left I decided to test out 2 mods I had installed for the game really quickly. Literally played for almost 2 hours....

Guys, when you do the Templar lairs in AC Brotherhood Deluxe do you get any exclusive weapons or items? Or is it just another hour worth of content? I want to know if I'm going to miss out on anything major by not getting it. thanks again.

Question on the DLC for Hard Reset- Do you have to play the main quest first to unlock the dlc or is it just added to the main game?
I think you need to play the main game first to unlock the DLC, The developer uploaded a save game file that starts from the beginning of the DLC which should let you start from there. I had to use it because I had uninstalled the game and when reinstalling the DLC was locked.

Can anyone tell me about snapshot? http://store.steampowered.com/app/204220/

this looks like something that might be fun to play on my bigscreen TV with my daughter.

Right now it's part of Humble Bundle 7.

I would suggest paying less than $7 and getting that package.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion $13.59

Comments on game play, learning curve, etc.?

If you are not new to massive rts or any rts then there is a medium learning curve. The three races are very similar so that simplifies things.

For $14 its definitely worth it and once you start you will easily put in a couple dozen of hours into the game. Only con is its single-threaded so if you like massive starship battles I hope you have a fast sandy or ivy.

Possibly the most useless of all Steam sales. I don't think I really bought anything this time. Pricing on Amazon and GMG was much better than this crap.

I picked up Hacker Evolution Duality -- had my eye on the game for a few months but refused to pay the 20 dollars they wanted.

I got it for 5 dollars :) I figured why not -- it has some cool looking graphics and can kill some time "haxing teh plan3t"

How did I miss Legend of Grimlock before this sale? Superb game, like Ultima Underworld revisited with modern graphics.

Definitely NOT "Ultima Underworld." UW was a fully free scrolling single character RPG with a heavy story emphasis, and that even allowed limited "flight" (levitation or something similar). Grimrock is purely Eye of the Beholder/Dungeon Master revisited, and comes with a fully featured editor for making your own adventures. If I'd compare it to anything directly (only when including the editor), I'd compare it loosely to "Dungeon Hack." in terms of being able to reply based on new adventures. I'm not sure if a random dungeon generator was developed for Grimrock, though.

I didn't see anything about extra weapons or items - just the two extra maps.

This may help.

Wikipedia covers the various editions and lists the bonus maps as being available for the standard edition of the game...supposedly the additional content can be activated/downloaded as "The Da Vinci Disappearance" DLC through Uplay. If that's the case, I would definitely just get the standard edition unless the extras like the map of Rome and the Codex appeal to you.

4.99 for BOTH bioshocks on amazon... c'mon steam, what is going on over there?

Amazon is trying to grow its its digital business, it isn't surprising that they are probably selling certain deals with little to no profit to attract more users.

If anything, Amazon is large enough to take the losses in promoting their digital service, its probably pocket change compared to their retail business :p

30 bucks for Skyrim then another 12.50 for the DLC? Fuck that. I don't want to play it that badly, especially now that it has been out for a long time and they're still trying to squeeze 60 per copy out of it new + 25 for the DLC. Blow me Bethesda.

Vote for A-10! Vote for A-10! Much better choice than Pedro!
Voted! I've been looking for a air combat game and will give A-10 shot if it wins the vote ($9.99). I was going to buy the Air Conflicts: Pacific Carriers, but haven't really heard much about it.

By the way, regarding the Bioshock pack, you can get Bioshock 1 & 2 and Spec Ops: The Line for $10 on Amazon.

Grabbed L4D and L4D2 finally... figured it was about time and definitely cheap enough.

Waiting for a deal on Batman: Arkham City and Borderlands 2... missed them earlier. :(

Is it necessary to play through The Witcher 1 in order to understand the story in the Witcher 2? I never could get into the first game due to its combat, but I've heard the sequel is much better in that area.

I think Borderlands 2 has been a daily deal, flash sale, and community choice this sale already. Idk if it's gonna come back again. Although I'm hoping Mass Effect 2 goes back up for 75% off again before the 5th, otherwise I guess 10 bucks isn't that bad.

I wouldn't say it is "necessary" but you will miss a lot of important stuff. The combat system is different and takes some getting used to (since its all about timing, proper use of potions, and finesse in combat strategy) but even on hard I never had a problem with it.

it will last day of the sale count on it

I'd love to get some DLC for borderlands 2 -- but I'm not going to pay 30 bucks for it.

I've heard the Season pass was "meh" but the mechromancer pack was fun.

Although not new in any way, Galactic Civilizations II at $4.99 is more than worth it. It is hands down the best 4x space game there is. Though comparable to Civ IV in space, it differs in many ways as well.

For one, thing, be warned it is purely single-player, however it also has some superb campaigns, and then a great sandbox experience with very good AI.

Another thing worth mentioning is that it is not very demanding in graphics power and will probably run on just about anything.

No need to play the first Witcher in order to enjoy the second. The story arcs are basically independent, though set in a common world.

PS Once I got over the crappy 3 click combat mechanics, I really enjoyed the story and character development in Witcher 1.

Good to know. I bit on Witcher 2 EE for $7.49

Awesome fucking game. Once I finish off Assassin's Creed 3, I'm going to focus on beating Witcher 2. I've been trying to make myself only play one game at a time, so I might actually get through my massive backlog.

Ahh you missed the sale on 12/27 on Greenman Gaming for it the Season Pass was $10.50 and Mechromancer was $3.50.

Finally in for Transformers: War for Cybertron....don't think it'll drop any cheaper than that.
Again it's all TB's fault. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnTkEhrFN5A
Even though technically I'm a Transformers kid and a Gears of War grown up so this was a no brainer. :)

I hope everyone who wanted FTL got in....I spent probably 4 hrs yesterday on it. ;) Finally got to the 5th worlds and unlocked a new ship. And then got my ass handed to me. :D
As a roguelike it's totally random though....I had one game, the first ship I came across utterly destroyed me. Oh well...[clicks Retry]. :D

Oh I know that's how amazon rolls, I'm a prime member and shop at amazon a ton. I also took advantage getting Lego LOTR for $7.49 and sonic generations for the same a few months ago.

Anyone else have the steam page/store go back to pre-sale UI?

Yeah i'm getting this through the client, but if I go there via chrome or firefox I still see the steam sale front end. Not sure what's up

Anyone get in on a Tochlight II pack when it was on sale? I thought I had bought a copy but I guess I didnt,

Finally got War & Fall of Cybertron + all dlc. I need to find out from you guys, is there a page or database that keeps track of the cheapest prices Steam has ever offered on each of their games? Kinda like Camelizer. There has to be......

Agree with everything said here. There is also an HD texture pack that doesn't require hardly any extra power and makes the game look 100x better. The old download link doesn't work, but I still have a archive of it if anyone needs/wants it for GCII.
