Decisions ... Decisions ... I am off tomorrow for the start of my Christmas vacation ... trying to decide what game(s) to play on the Apocalypse (and during the rest of my vacation when the world presumably doesn't end :D ) ... so many choices in my backlog to choose from

Borderlands 2 - this seems to have a nice Apocalyptic feel to it but I haven't bought the DLC yet since I was waiting for the Steam sale

Fallout NV - I have had this in my backlog for a while ... could be a good time to break it out

Fallout 1 & 2 - please don't vote me off the gaming island but I haven't ever played the original Fallout games ... they could be good candidates

Path of Exile - just preordered it so I have access to the beta now ... it could make a nice marathon type game to distract me from all the screaming during the Apocalypse

What are your thoughts? Any suggestions? If it actually is my last day I would hate to waste it and miss out on some quality gaming :p

Go with New Vegas, nothing like getting yourself in the state of mind for the end of the world!

Why can't this forum be the one place where people don't talk about an apocalypse that won't happen? WHY?

Fallout (any)
Rage (didn't think it was that bad)
Metro 2033
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (any)
Half-Life 2 (kind of has an end of the world vibe to it)
The Walking Dead by Tell Tale Games (if you prefer zombie apocalypses.)

Just having a little tongue in cheek fun to find a creative reason to tackle a few of the many games in my backlog

I have all of those except for Walking Dead (I do have Dead Island in my backlog though) ... I might have to skip the gym on Friday and become a computer potato that day :D

Fallout NV obviously to get in the apocalypse mood ;)

Path of Exile!!!

it's really awesome!
unfortunately, I will not be playing games tomorrow. I will be installing wood flooring.

The only bad thing about starting PoE right now is that there will be a character wipe (move all existing chars to the Legacy server) when open beta is released (Jan 15 or 18).

That's when I'm going to start playing again.

Fallout 1.

If we're going back so far, how about some DOS games?

Bad Blood?
Wasteland?
Fountain of Dreams?
The Chaos Engine?

Also any game made by Moby basically...

Or for shits and giggles: X-Men: Ravages of Apocalypse or XCOM: Apocalypse

I crack myself up.

I don't know about half of those, but Fountain of Dreams was awful. Wasteland, however, is in the gaming Hall of Fame.

apparently there has been 514 leap days since leap day was implemented so we're already way past the real doomsday date. :)

Of course, just having a little fun ... the world doesn't usually end on December 31st every year either ... why folks think it will end at the end of the Mayan Calendar is silly ...

besides I have little faith in a civilization that couldn't predict their own demise (I am not holding my breath on their ability to predict ours) ... but it did provide a good excuse to dig the apocalyptic titles out of the hundreds of games in my Steam backlog ...

also, it is the Solstice so I should make use of the shortest day to crank the sound and turn out the lights and enjoy some immersive gaming :p

Doomsday happened like 3 years ago basically. Since leap day has been going on since the earth was spinning.

As an aside, I did enjoy the hilarious article at the Man Cave ... http://mancave.cbslocal.com/2012/12/20/the-craziest-mayan-apocalypse-theories-3/

I found the line from the black hole portion particularly funny,

Around this time of year the Earth and Sun will line up with Sagittarius A*, the black hole at the center of our galaxy. Which means as much as you happening to be at the same latitude of Milla Jovovich one thousand miles away: no matter how badly you fantasize, you will not suddenly be sucked inside her.

:D

Since the most likely scenario we'll face is freezing to death how about Cryostasis? :)

Probably FireFall, which I just cant get enough of at this point. It's a gorgeous, incredibly enjoyable game, even in beta, with huge amounts of potential and things coming soon... beyond the apocalypse.

If the world were to end, however, I'm already prepared, so I'd rather spend my time in a beautiful, vibrant world enjoying some fast-paced action, as there would be enough drab brown and gray to look at after the bombs drop, or the meteor hits, or aliens burn everything to ash with laser beams during the apocalypse.

Ha ha! That's just... awesome. Though the truth of the concept is disappointing, lol.

Mass Effect 3. Because Reapers exist!

So you're preparing, then? Are they the ones bringing down our doom upon us?

Nice, because I like the Reapers, so let me get the popcorn. In real life, I'll be rooting for the bad guys.
