The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

They should of just got a real Macho Man clone for the game the voice actor for Torgue is pretty anoying.

Although I have played for only an hour so far, I'm laughing at almost every line he says.

THAT SENTENCE HAD TOO MANY SYLLABLES! APOLOGIZE!

so... to not have to read through the 125 pages of this thread...

am I playing borderlands 2 wrong? lol

I have gone through the game and made a backup of my save game before the warrior and I haven't done the quest with the Radio Guy in hopes of later farming for items from him and the warrior and terramorphus. But I decided to beat the game just so I could say I did, 1rst DLC came out I restored my save game and hoped to use that to level up, but only got to Level 37.... now the second DLC has come out and I went in and so far most of the enemies are level 30, in other words too easy and nearly no XP.

So do I have to beat the game and go through TVHM to get to Level 50+? I don't want the game to be too easy.... but I don't want to have to do everything all over again lol.

Ha ha! +1 to that... the guy is a friggin' trip, cracks me up.

hurray, a second arena...

That would be a misunderstanding of this DLC, as it's not just an arena. They actually added an entire city, in which there are other missions, the artistic aesthetic and design of which is phenomenal.

There are arena battles, but it plays-out through a storyline and there are side quests in a relatively decent-sized "world" in this DLC, so it's not just fighting in an arena; there's more to it than that, definitely.

I wonder if the OP can put permalinks to specific/useful posts in this thread in the opening post. That might help with navigation. On another forum I moderated for, I did that in most of my guides or posts on the forum.

you still have to do arena style battles which are boring. so far the bar, the first now and now another one just after the bar. I know there is more places to go, but for the first hour of play that is all you do.

Nah, it's not for the first hour, so I'm not sure where you're getting that time from.

I'm already over two hours into the DLC, and after the first arena battle, I was off doing a couple of other things. Yes, that also included the bar fight which followed, which was the second "arena" battle, but there are still other things to do, not just arena fights.

If you find the arena fights boring, that's your prerogative. I probably would too, if it were like Moxxi's Underdome, but since they added more than just arena battles to break things up, I don't find it boring in the least. Especially since the art/environment design is so excellent.

To answer one of the posters above. If you did PT1 and find DLC enemies too weak do following:
1. Start PT2.
2. Play it till the first Fast travel station that will take you ~30 minutes of gameplay.
3. From there just travel to DLC map

If you do that enemies in DLC will be 1-2 levels above your current level, I believe. And that doesn't require you to play PT2 in full. Only first 30 minutes.

There are downsides of this approach. You will not have access to sanctuary ant to most of the locations on the map that you opened in PT1. But that was ok for me.

Guys, so, I'm level 50 and want to play DLC2.
Since there is a level cap 50 does it mean I will play DLC2 through with enemies ~level 50 and the only leveling up I can expect is finding a better weapons/shields?

So, level cap renders DLC2 into regular FPS though, I guess, damn fun FPS.

Ok :( guess it wouldn't kill me to do a second play through, I just wish the enemies would still scale on your first play through I was hoping they would later remove the level cap and on my second play through I could do all my leveling to hit that cap.

just one other quick Question.... (no not explosions) Anyone else go from win 7 to Win 8 and notice odd framerate drops? My Rig in my sig seems to have experienced this, With the nvidia beta drivers I got odd lockups in game after 30 mins of playing heroes pass audio would buzz and screen would skip, then kick back in for a second, then again and again and again. I went back to WHQLed divers and don't have this now but I do notice bad drops in frame-rate in to the teens and twenties.... In win 7 this didn't happen lowest I had seen was in the 80s. I'm hoping that the nvidia drivers aren't mature enough yet and that's all it is. My rig is more than capable of playing this as you can see.

I've only played it in Windows 8 and with a GTX480 I get hit pretty hard at some points and I'm somewhat confident that it's PhysX because with PhysX off the game runs snappy.

Might be different from your problem but that's what I've seen.

Yep seems to be taking a harder hit with physx in win 8 than 7

I was doing the last mission in frostburn canyon where you have to sacrifice someone and I dropped in to the single digits.... That had never happened before.

Started to play DLC2 at level 50 and it is kind of booring. No leveling up. Loot is bad. Not sure if I want to finish DLC.

Hoping a later DLC lets us level up some more like with the first game. But yeah, aside from helping others level up, there is not much to it once you hit level 50.

While playing the Torgue DLC (and the Pirate one before that) I slowly realized, that I have absolutely no reason to kill the enemies. No experience to gain. Chances of good loot from random enemies are so slim, they can't be taken as an incentive. Eridium is worthless and Torgue Tokens only drop from certain enemies. Like WTF is the point anymore, just run past enemies, save ammo and complete missions?

Level up other characters?

still not feeling this DLC. the pirate one I loved and couldn't stop playing. this one, I just can't get into. Luckily it has crazy girl and some more Moxxi. Just something though that just doesn't wow me as much as the other one, or the regular game.

It's $30 on Gamestop (Impulse Driven, but it will give you the Steam key since it's Steamworks)/Amazon. Is it worth every penny?

also, the flame boss guy is sorta flawed. you can just drop down and die, respawn and then sit up there and just shoot him through the wire and he can't touch you.

yes, totally worth it for 30 bucks.

Just bought it for $30 on Amazon (plus tax in this fucking state). So woot :D. I'll probably wait till the Season Pass is at least half off. Hell, I got the Max Payne 3 Season Pass for 7.49 on Steam earlier.

Same reason you kill stuff in a game like Doom... because it's there to be killed. :)

That is true. But it also makes BL2 just another shooter like DOOM.

BTW, can I still get points to upgrade my special ability like turret while capped at 50? Or not?

Did you seriously just ask that question? You get one point per level, how many points do you think you are going to get when you cant level anymore?

I thought they were not going to do an arena DLC for any of the 4 season pass installments? I hate that arena crap and get nothing out of it.

I have Season Pass so I just got it but arenas aren't fairly pointless especially with these low level caps. Low priority for me.

Played for about 6 hours in the second DLC. Only once I got semidecent gun and even then it was weaker then ALL guns I got from previous DLC and PT1.

DLC2 is ok, it is beautiful but there is no feel of achievement. I even started to run through enemies without killing them. Why ? I'm already level 50.

Yeah, releasing two DLCs without increasing the level cap was kind of a fail move.

I enjoy the main campaign enough to buy the season pass. Now I think it's a bad decision, as both DLCs don't live up to the standard.

For the writing-
So the big deal in DLC1 is the pirate queen (she's even in the trailer), and then? It ends with big question mark "so what about the pirate queen?" Come on, there isn't even a cliff hanger! There is no conclusion, there isn't even a journey. We went from oasis to the treasure room and then we feel nothing! WTF happen to the story department? Another NPC with big screen time, Shade? He is just a mess, props GBX for successfully impressed us that he is a total retard, end of story... WTF?

Then in DLC2 we're guided by a swear bomb who is... at least better than Shade, thank god! We went thru 3 zones killing dudes here and there and it ends with a cheap ass boss inviting you to glitch behind a wall, otherwise hes unkillable unless youre swimming in orange items, I sure as hell am not. Oh then some whites and greens spraying on ground and credits rolled. Where's the feeling of badassness? WTH is wrong with the designer? I facerolled warrior and even that feels more epic. You feel the environment, you're guided by the story, and it gives you the mood to do something epic. In DLC2? There's nothing. You worn us out by killing random dudes as an introduction, lead us to a cheap ass boss in an empty dome of NOTHING-NESS. There is no art and there's no mood there's only the constant chatter of swears. WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO FEEL?

Given that these are DLC, I don't expect something... epic, but what the DLC offered are just pathetic. Both DLC's feel lackluster, especially in terms of drops. WHERE IS MY LOOOOOOOOOOOOT? I didnt get even ONE ORANGE item from both dlcs. That just plain out sucks in a loot based game. Yeah loooot explosion was nothing but a buncha white and green items, what a let down.

/end rant

You can buy oranges in DLC 2. For 600+ coins :) I guess you need to play 20 hours to get so many coins.

I don't know anything about the item colors and a friend threw me a few orange weapons. I'm level 40 and maybe it's because I'm a Gunzerker and have put a lot of my weight in guns, but damn, I feel kinda guilty just wiping out hoards with these weapons. Guess I lucked out getting some pretty heavy stuff.

Is Borderlands 1 worth buying? The game + DLC is cheap on Steam right now.

Yeah, releasing two DLCs without increasing the level cap was kind of a fail move.

I'd have to agree with that, as it would have added more, but I'm not finished with it yet so don't know if there's at least new weapons to be found etc.

However, it's just a pleasure to be in the world, as the art direction and general artistic aesthetic and design are fantastic, so it's been a lot for me, as I really immerse myself in the art and personality of games.

The characters are funny as hell as well, which makes it more fun.

As I've said, I've not finished Torque yet, but I think they did a great job with adding side missions in-between the arena battles, and the design of the world is excellent.

Maybe next DLC they'll finally add level cap increase, which they should have done with Torque though, definitely agreed on that.

*shrug* I got bored about halfway through DLC1. I haven't even touched the game in a week or more.
