This game is crap. Complete garbage.

Could not be further from a Hitman game.

Story and levels are linear. Disguises don't work. Enemies spot you through buildings. No save points. No room for error even though the game is full of them and most are out of your control.

Not going to make this long and drawn out...just going to say that if you are a casual to hard core Hitman fan SAVE-YOUR-MONEY!

They took the Hitman series from a relatively hard core game about stealth and tactics to a game made for casual kiddies.

This is not the game you are looking for.

If you play on Expert or Purist, maybe. Otherwise, not really.

It does seem the balance for the difficulty levels is messed up.

Well I found that even the difficulty levels are screwed in that even though expert and purist lack childish things like the Instinct meter that Instinct part of the game is still THERE just not usable...so you'll still get wayyy too easily spotted when disguised and what not.

The game is broken and if you've read the PC Gamer review its basically all there as far as the damages this game makes...it's just with me I'm a little more angry considering the series did a complete 180 for absolutely NO reason at all OTHER than to appeal to the "masses" instead of the core gamers that made the series as popular as it is.

That's what honestly upsets me the most is that Eidos basically said, "Fuck you fans and your support! Here's a shitty game for all you n00b kiddies!".

Everything seems to be chasing the lowest common denominator now, more interested in creating products that appeal to as many people as possible than creating truly brilliant products. It is what it is.

At the worst, I'm saving a boatload of money since I hardly buy any games anymore, as I find the vast majority of them to be shallow and pedestrian experiences.

Another gaming franchise ruined I suppose, and by the looks of it this looks like another poor console port.

I like the game... I play it as I played other Hitmans on easiest difficulty setting, and it's same as the previous game. And yes, I'm casual gamer. I don't care about difficulty and challenges. I treat games exactly, as I treat movies and books - as entertainment, that is supposed to give me fun from enjoying the story. I don't read every 2nd page of the book, or read it in mirror to increase difficulty... same as I don't sit in alst row in cinema and take off my glassess :)

The game is fine. It is more Splinter Cell now, but it is quite good as a stealth game. I don't understand the dumded down statements. On Expert this game is way harder than Blood Money at its most difficult.

The PC version has a whole bunch of high-end graphics options. The game has been designed to fit the current market, I agree, but it's definitely not a "poor" console port.

Don't know where you're getting poor port from. It has a ton of pc specific features and it runs just fine.

Yeah nothing poor about the port by Nixxes (DX: HR). Also, as a fan since the beginning and having absolutely loved Blood Money... I don't quite get the anger. Too much "production value," or whatever, but I don't feel like it's money or time wasted.

It's ok, the difficulty curve is stupid though. It goes from easy mode with HUD, to hard mode with HUD, to harder without HUD options. Just give me normal without the stupid HUD damnit. Also I really don't like how little intel you have before a mission. Where the hell am I supposed to find out all the different execution methods? Run around the level till I come across them? And instinct mode sucks, it makes the game impossible since you only have about 4 seconds to hide yourself and yet the enemey can see through your disguise from 30 yards away. You're better off staying in your suit and just attracting attention and stealth assassinating them around the corner which is broken. The game is still playable and it sort of feels like hitman while at the same time not.

It's a great port with awesome graphics. Can't speak for the console version but I laugh at console gamers who are still using that ancient hardware and complaining about the graphics. In the end I'm enjoying the game and it's hard as fuck on the higher settings. I'm sure they will release some patches for known issues with disguises (I haven't had an issue with them yet, personally). Overall, a solid game. It's not Blood Money but I think it holds it's own. And if you got it on GMG for $29, you definitely got your moneys worth.

I'm by no means a Hitman purist or even "fan", but I'm thoroughly enjoying what I've played so far...not too sure this is a "poor" port either...I mean I havent't seen any Xbox 360 button prompts and the graphcial adjustments/mouse&kb options lead me to believe that they actually put some time into the PC version.

That's the gist of it these days.

Game is hit or miss to some people. Just like every game on the planet. I personally love it.

and it is far from a console port.. Nixxes was hired to make the PC copy amazing.. And they delivered.

So I don't have to repeat myself...I've posted my thoughts in both Hitman threads in the PC gaming area.

I disagree that the game is complete crap. Far from it. It's a darned good game in its own right but there's a few needless limits that I hope can be addressed.

If you can get this game for GMG sale prices like they were doing it's a no brainer. The general hate and FUD is overblown.

PC version is beautifully done. Not a crap port by any means.

Yeah, I was surprised with all of the graphics options. I have it tweaked to my liking for optimum prettiness and speed. :)

PC version averaging out a good ten percent points or so lower than the console versions.

^^ This is arguably the most well rounded and even handed review I've seen for the PC version thus far.

In theory, a patch or two COULD change things for the better in terms of freeing up some of the constraints mentioned there or like I've been harping on in the PC gaming area.

It's a good game in its own right. If it get some support and TLC it could go up.

If you see a GMG setup in the $30ish range again it's a no brainer buy IMHO.

I am a pretty big hitman fan. I will be picking this up tonight, I hope I am not disappointed.

Wasn't a hardcore Hitman fan but I can't wait to try this especially since it seems like the devs put a little bit of effort into the PC game

just accept hitman absolution as it is and you will enjoy it

This is a dangerous game to play. Its people like you that have allowed the gaming industry to slide down into the deep dark hole its getting/gotten itself in to.

Its like Pascal's Wager.

If you weren't hard core then do NOT go back and play any of the previous games (especially Blood Money) unless you want to ruin Absolution for yourself! :p

Having played this at PAX, it's sad to hear they fixed nothing...because at PAX, I had already decided the game was awful - as noted, disguises were worthless. I might as well have been wearing 47's birthday suit with "I'M A HITMAN" tattooed on his chest.

so now you're blaming other gamers for not enjoying your video games? its time to stop playing games if you're trying to look down on other gamers as part of the reason you don't enjoy something

I loved Blood Money, but on a recent play thru it was REALLY evident how dated that game is....BM IS REALLY, REALLY DATED...but I am glad that I played it thru again because it has allowed me to appreciate Hitman Absolution even more.

IMHO HA has really improved on the series with tighter gameplay mechanics, sweet graphics, awesome maps and overall fun. I agree that the disguises are craptacular and the AIs Hive mentality can be rediculous, but thats the way they HAD to make the game otherwise it would have been to easy. If they didn't make the AI that way then you could have impersonated a cop / merc on almost all of the missions and marched your way straight to the objective and completed the maps in no time flat.

Anyway, for people complaining about this games AI/Difficulty did you ever play that one hitman game that had like ENDLESS NINJAS on one of its later levels...GAH which Hitman game was that? It was fucking rediculous with the ENDLESS NINJA waves. Thank God HA doesn't do that endless ninja BS!

The thing I love about the hitman series is that you have the ability to complete a mission with several different approaches (unless you have ENDLESS NINJAS) and HA stays true to its roots....I love how we still have the options to tiptoe around the tulips or KILL EVERYTHING that moves...man I cleaned house on the orphanage level...I went all Kill Bill medieval on the bastards which was totally unprofessional, but dammit I don't like when goons mess with kids or nuns :D

HA is a lot of fun, and IMHO it edges out blood money to be the best hitman game to date. BUT DO YOU KNOW WHAT I MISS THE MOST? I miss the newspaper headlines after each mission...I used to love reading how a deranged lunatic with basic weapon skills obliterated 28 souls with 300 rounds spent. But it was ok because only 17 of the dead were security / bodyguards which the police tend to assign a low priority for investigation (WTF always made me laugh), however authorites were particularly concerned that 11 of the victims were killed by headshots (as if non-headshot murders are tolerable) LMFAO

Liking it a lot as well, granted the enemies spotting you thing is a bit annoying in large crowds, but other than that, solid game. Wish I could pick weapons as well at times.

The only real problem I have currently with the game is that enemy detection seems really random and hard to predict, especially regarding disguises as others have said. They need to tweak a lot of that in patches.

I hate getting like 80% through the mission and then having to restart because some asshole "spotted" me.

Another thing that is annoying is that checkpoints do not retain world changes if you reload. For instance, if you set a trap somewhere and then save at a checkpoint, and then reload from that checkpoint, everything you did goes back to default. It saves if you've killed a target or not, but other than that...no.

Agreed. This is a needless limitation. Even if Agent 47 is rogue and on the run, let's get real here. Like he's not going to have his own private safe house or something somewhere to have some goodies? He's all about being 100 percent prepared for any situation no matter what.

I was lost without a silenced pistol until I finally got to Hope. Felt like the game opened up a bit more starting around that level.

Couldn't disagree more if we're talking overall.

^^ That's why basically.

Things HA has over Blood Money are obviously graphics, production values, and I do agree that there's been some nice gameplay refinements. I also think the menus and general interface are more intuitive.

But Blood Money is still the best game overall, pound for pound. And I don't know about you all, but Jesper Kyd's music is a big time MIA/AWOL major character missing in HA for me.

I think HA is a damned solid game. My relatively few quibbles really could be patched for the most part and then I'd be doing cartwheels in the streets.

Right now I'm looking at an 8/10 game. Blood Money is at least a 9/10 game and one of my favorite games of at least the last decade if not all time. Is it perfect? No.

Beat the game on Normal, holy crap it was amazing. There's a tremendous breadth of opinions and evaluations for the game, and I think it indicates people either embracing or not the new changes. Personally, I liked them a lot. The graphics are great, incredible in some areas, especially the texturing. I think the story was better in this one, although there are a few things that didn't add up. Overall the presentation is much more cinematic, which I like. As far as gameplay goes, it felt "more real," with enemies being more aware as well as the interactivity with the environments and the ways to off targets.

The gripes I've seen don't hold much water to be honest. While I agree the score in the old games was better, the music in this game was fitting. 47 being on the run, not having weapons (if you didn't purchase the Professional Edition), etc. are the theme of this game, deal with it. If 47 is being chased by the ISA, he might not have time or maybe they raided his secret warehouse (it would be nice if the story addressed that). I like that disguises don't always work or that it's easy for certain NPC's to pick you out (much more realistic IMO). As far as losing points for killing people, I'm at a loss. Every Hitman game's scoring system has been about being a professional, or even a silent assassin, and it's just been better quantified in this game (which I like). Killing civilians, leaving evidence, being spotted, etc. are not the marks of a professional.

Overall the game is a solid 85/100 for me. I'm going to have fun going back and completing challenges I missed or just running through levels blowing people away. Oh, and definitely doing some contracts. :)

I don't disagree with this for the most part.

Sure they do. You just don't agree with them. ;)

Such as it was.

I daresay Jesper would have still brought something considerably better to the table. On a smaller scale it's like John Williams missing from a Star Wars movie.

I have the Pro Edition although quite frankly that shouldn't be necessary to begin with.

Deal with this: Agent 47 (think about it) wouldn't have any contigencies or off the radar backup for himself. No hidden assets or stashes. This is someone who wouldn't trust ANYONE completely. I simply can't believe he wouldn't have secrets for himself in a "worse case scenario" which this game obviously is story wise.

If 47 is being chased by the ISA, he might not have time or maybe they raided his secret warehouse (it would be nice if the story addressed that).

Yes.

I like that disguises don't always work or that it's easy for certain NPC's to pick you out (much more realistic IMO).

It's very inconsistent even at just Normal difficulty. To a point I can buy that people in the same outfits are you are going to be more sensitive but gee whiz.

Wanna a good laugh? Play this game at Purist level and watch how disguises are rendered completely useless.

How about non lethal subduing?

I finally just decided I didn't give a rats ass and I've had a great time after that but the excuses some folks make for some of this is laughable.

You can't do ANYTHING in this game without being penalized for it. Even silent non lethal takedowns penalize you.

Professionals don't do that? LOL, yeah right.

C'mon that's nonsense and you know it.

Overall the game is a solid 85/100 for me. I'm going to have fun going back and completing challenges I missed or just running through levels blowing people away. Oh, and definitely doing some contracts. :)

Agreed. I'm enjoying the game and at some point I'll look forward to replaying the story mode with lessons learned. I certainly think the PC Gamer 62/100 is considerably towards an extreme I don't agree with at all.

Contracts really has a crazy amount of potential for this game.

as a fan of the series i have been enjoying hitman quite a bit. i think its a lot of fun. and there have been a couple times where i have noticed better pathways and disguises without knocking anybody out.

the scoring just seems a little off, otherwise seems good

In regards to scoring, I agree, it's funky. Sometimes I've finished a mission having not killed or even subdued anyone but the target, no being "spotted", etc. Yet I still don't get the "Silent Assassin" rank because I didn't use the specific "signature" method of assassination the game wanted me to use. Which IMO is bullshit...whether you strangle a guy or make a chandelier fall on him, either way you should still get the highest rank. Sure, you can get BONUS points for doing the special kills, but it shouldn't lower your rank.

Also, there is a lot of cool things to find in some of the missions, and not all of it is obvious. However, it sometimes requires you to just run around shooting everyone so you can access all the areas of the map in order to scope it out to plan how you want to do the mission, and then restart. Some places you really can't get access to without taking out a few guys.
