The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

It is the stupid tentacles that travel 300 feet beating me down behind a container that is pissing me off.

those are the worst enemy in the game. Find yourself a good shotgun and charge at their face and hit them in the eye. it is the only way.

I use the Fibber gun that I got off Mal the robot from the first time around. It's deadly against threshers for whatever reason. It sucks against everything else in PT2, but threshers it can kill in seconds. What most people don't know is the fibber is awesome if you shoot the ground with it it rebounds up and does 9X damage.

8AM EST here and nothing yet. Seems to be up for PS3 and 360 already, so I can't imagine it will be long.

Yeah I guess that was only meant for the console crowd... where is the PC love now Gearbox?

Oh well more unreliable rumors on the forum say 2 hours for Steam launch.

No level increase.
No storage increase.

I never had problems with killing threshers. Though, I do not really like those kind of enemies.

Pyres are hairy... the others no big deal for a Gunzerker at least.

only those gravity ones do that and then they make it easier to kill them by pounding them in the face with said shotgun.

Yeah, always have a shotgun ready for Wormhole Threshers.

I agree that they are some of the most obnoxious enemies in the game. Overall my complaint with enemies is that they will get you into Fight For Your Life time, and then go hide behind a crate somewhere so you can't get a second wind. That's either brilliant AI programming, or completely retarded, but frustrating and stupid either way.

Maybe because it's easy to get criticals on Threshers or something. The Fibber does an INSANE amount of damage on crits.

Glad I haven't tossed my Fibber then. I've been hanging on to it; sometimes it worked good and others it sucked but good to know it hurts Threshers.

I beat the game at Level 33, just played on through with very little help. The game felt short but I spend over 60 hours on the first playthrough so it must've been good for me to think that it was short.

After my initial problems, the game turned out fairly easy. I played as Gunzerker and I rarely ever used the Gunzerking ability. I can imagine if I actually used Gunzerking then maybe I could just plow through things; maybe I'll work on using it more on my next playthrough.

When does the Bee shield come along? I've not seen one. Is that in DLC or the second paythrough?

The Bee shield can be found on all playthroughs in the base game, but it doesn't matter at this point because it's been completely nerfed. It no longer works the way it did initially.

It's still good if you're a sniper, but otherwise...not so much.

Not sure about sniper, though I've heard that, but yeah... it's been completely nerfed, so no more having every weapon being generally insanely over-powered.

Oh, it's still plenty powerful. You just need to use high ROF guns with it now instead of high pellet count guns.

How does using high ROF guns makes any difference when the mechanics of the shield itself have been altered?

I'm not even clear on exactly how it's been nerfed or how it's "working" at all at this point. But I do notice that I see absolutely no damage increase when using the shield anymore.

I see more of an effect from shields that offer actual Amp drain from the first shot fired from a weapon. But, maybe I'm just understanding what they've done or using quite the right weapons?

I do actually use snipers and fast pistols.

So, they somehow programmed it to no longer count with high pellet count weapons, but the damage still applies to single rounds fired? For each shot fired?

I might have to try it again, because I don't seen any difference or how it's working at this point.

I hate threshers, I don't know what they were thinking when they designed them, but someone deserves to be beat daily for them, I can curb stomp every other enemy in the game, but a thresher will kill me for 30 fucking minutes straight.

It also annoys me that 360/ps3 players have the dlc already.

look around the terrain wherever they spawn... one thing I've noticed about threshers is, there's always an unreachable spot in the area you can fight them from, just close enough to keep them from retreating/despawning, but far enough that they can't easily do damage (yes even terramorphous).

some would call these "exploits", but they're painfully obvious parts of nearby land that never requires any glitching to reach... as if they were all designed just for this purpose, not sure why people automatically assume such a thing is an exploit, as if it was completely unheard of that devs just like to make their games piss easy.

The only thing they changed, other than nerfing the overall stats a little, was making it so the damage per shot is divided evenly amongst all projectiles in that shot. So like, if you use a shotgun with 10 pellets, you get your Amp damage divided by 10 per pellet. Before, it was applying the full Amp damage to EACH pellet, which made it insanely overpowered for shotguns, and especially in the case of the Conference Call.

If you use a high ROF weapon that only fires one projectile per shot, you are still getting the full Amp damage per shot.

I would like to know, though, if you have a non-shotgun weapon that fires 2 or 3 bullets per shot, does it divide the damage there as well? I have a Jakobs "minigun" that does 1500x3 damage, so I wonder if it's still as good with the Bee.

Except for Super Badass Pyre Threshers. Those things are death incarnate. Flaming Death Incarnate would have been a good name for them.

Srsly. At lvl 50 I ran into one in the middle of Sawtooth Cauldron while doing the flag swapping quest. He killed every damn bandit that came along and then he murdered me about 9 times before I finally brought him down.

Having an issue with Badass points. I double clicked on gun damage on my last point and for some reason now its reading -1 badass points available. I've gotten several more since and it's still reading -1.

Anyone know of a quick fix?

This better not turn into a Mad Moxxi's arena style DLC. obviously it has a lot more but man, sick of arena wave style stuff. died during that first mission arena fight and was disgusted and stopped playing. Only consolation is, I found a pretty friggin awesome purple drop. Probably best SMG i've seen yet. 2100k damage, 71 rounds, amazing fire rate and accuracy all wrapped with fire damage. Amazingly dropped by a regular guy.

I hope not. Personally I will not be playing his DLC until a DLC that includes level increase is out. I am not going to waste all that XP on my primary character. I can not express how disappointed I am with the fact that there is no level increase or storage increase in this DLC.

Obviously they want us to play more characters to level 50. I get that. Right now I just want to focus on my Gunzerker and all the accumulated specific gear I have for this character.

So farming BL2, playing Hitman: Absolution and Dishonered from here on til the next DLC.

Please PM me if you want a better SMG, except that mag size, crazy! Is it a Bandit? What is the ROF?

what I dont get is why they need level caps at all. Just let people keep playing and just keep scaling. why is that so hard?

I didn't even think of the level cap. at 42 right now but I've already started the DLC so I guess I'll keep going.

I'm at 43. I'd like to see them raise that cap quite a bit just for grins. Like maybe to a 100? ;)

What an amazing game this is.

It's so they can sell more DLC of course.

Based on what you're explaining, which is what I thought after you said it was per individual projectile, I would assume that to be the case.

I have a sniper that fires three rounds per shot, so based on what you've explained, I would expect that the damage would be divided between the three rounds. Does that seem right? If so, is the Bee even still worth using?

Little confusing...

Pretty much. To be honest, I wonder if any of the Season Pass DLC will even have level cap increases.
I think they're following the pattern of the first game. I'd expect the next DLC to take longer to come out, include a level cap, and be the lengthiest of them. Another Knoxx essentially.

Does anyone know what the grenade mod is that basically explodes like a nuke?

I was in a pub game the other day, and some guy was tossing grenades every-so-often, and it was creating a massive explosion, huge orange ring (was practically filling my entire screen every time he threw one) extending outward from point of impact.

I didn't have a chance to ask him, so if anyone knows, drop a line?

I want to know this too, my buddy was doing this but I forgot to ask him.

Also finished my first playthrough, loved the game. Onward to true vault hunter mode!

the bee adds 50k damage per shot (divided between pellets). Rocket launchers do more. Snipers I have seen are maxed out at 27k. Shotguns much more but you will only have a few pellets hit so they will only get a fraction of the boost. High RoF SMGs and pistols will probably benefit the most. And possible 40 round snipers with zero that does the escalating damage. Unfortunately I gave that away thinking it was useless.q

So you've seen it too, then?

Hey, if you happen to find out from your buddy what grenade it is, mind dropping me a PM to let me know? I cant seem to find it, or a description of it, anywhere.

If anyone else knows: nuke grenade!

Anyone here know what it is?

Ha ha, please drop a line if you do... would like to procure that beast for myself.

Based on your description (orange ring) it sounds like it's some sort of Fire Nova grenade. Not sure which ones do that, but that might give you someplace to start.

You sure it's not the Commando middle tree turret upgrade? It makes a huge nuke explosion (with fiery skull of death) that fills the entire screen and you can use it every 45 seconds - less with class mods or relics. There's another upgrade in that tree that lets you throw it like a longbow grenade.

Not sure about the orange ring however...

I was sure someone was going to ask this, heh... yes, I'm sure. I was playing with another Siren, a Zer0 and a Gunzerker. I think it might have been the Gunzerker who was tossing the grenade. Though the explosion was as large as Axton's turret, though.

To the response above, it was more than the size of a nova, but it could be related, so thanks. The radius on the blast was absolutely huge; as large as Axton's turret nuke.

For all I know, it could have been a mod, meaning someone modded the file, which I've seen someone do with a shotgun when I was looking this up today; they made a "nuke shotgun" that gave off the same blast as Axton's turret, so I'm not sure...

...though the post beneath my last post, he says his buddy was using the same thing, so it must exist. I also found a thread somewhere that no one responded to, of someone asking to trade for the "nuke grenade", so I'm not sure what it is, but it seems legit, what I was seeing.
