I am thinking about getting one of these 3 cards for a new system and would like some advise on which would be the best value for the money.

My monitor is 1920x1080.

While I am willing to buy an overclocked version of the card, I will not be doing any overclocking once I get the card.

Initially I was leaning towards the 670 card, but now I'm wondering if the cheaper 660 or 7950 might be a better option. However, everything I read about the 7950, overclocking is mentioned and I can't seem to find any opinions about it without overclocking.

Is the boost worth it in the 7950 cards?

These were the two 670 cards I was initially considering:

EVGA GTX670 FTW http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130787

GIGABYTE GV-N670OC-2GD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125423

Thank you for you help

you can probably find an 7970 for $350-400 which would be a good choice since those 670s are pretty much $400

Yeah, AMD is walking over NV right now - especially considering the pricing.

7970 is a no brainier. 7950 if you are on a budget...

Lower the damn price nVidia... 660ti was supposed to go against the 7870, not the clearly stronger Tahiti Pro.

You have to really, really like nVidia to buy their cards right now (or really, really hate AMD drivers, like I do) because you're essentially paying more for equal or less performance at every bracket from the top down.

Thanks for the replies, sounds like the 7950 is the way to go.

If I decided I wanted to do some mild overclocking (i.e., not having to add any extra cooling), how much could I safely do?

Do you have any recomendations as to which 7950 to get?

Gigabyte HD 7950 OC (900 Mhz). you could manually tweak voltage and easily hit 1.15 Ghz. also gigabyte has released a boost BIOS (F3 version) for the card with 1 Ghz boost clocks. the card model is GV-R795WF3-3GD. the windforce3x cooler is excellent.

I've been reading good things about the OC's on the MSI TF3 7950s, and since my current MSI TF3 560ti 448 was such a nice card, I went with a TF3 7950 also. Should be here today. Wouldn't buy an MSI motherboard, but I have no problems with their video cards.

Newegg has them for $320 before $15 MIR, including that Never Settle bundle.

I really think EVGA gtx 670 ftw would make you happy man! goodluck!
