Intel core i5 2500K $99 [MicroCenter]

Why can't online stores have prices like MC?

They make you work for those low prices, get out of your chair and into a store, ohhh tech temptation everywhere.....they know we can't resist. Also Amazon and ebay run online, they fight for their share, so MC flies under the radar with their locally only in-store sales

I might be able to score a few of these from a coworker that works PT @ a MC in Florida.. I'll ask him

There are tons of online stores. Countless numbers of them.

Is Amazon going to physically break the legs of any vendor that undercuts their prices to bring in sales?

Now prepare for the onslaught of 2500K FS threads to go side by side with the over priced iPhone5's. ;)

Money talks and theres no denying the kind of pull Amazon/ebay/Egg/Tiger have on Intel considering the massive amount of product they move on a daily basis. I understand not extending beyond your capacity, but theres so many markets like south Florida, where MC could be making an absolute killing in,my guess is lack of sufficient supply is holding them up in the back of the supply line, hence ISO :(

Both of the Georgia stores were showing as OOS for the 2500k, but I decided to drive my ass down to peruse the store anyhow. . .

Got bored, was about to leave and asked a sales guy "Hey, the answer is probably no, but do you happen to have any 2500ks in back or stashed away? I know they are on super special today."

"Yeah man, we made it look like they are out of stock so people would come into the store, here, let me go get you one."

I was feeling pretty awesome when he brought it up front for me. :)

No way! I was looking for one in GA too, I might have to stop by today and see if I am lucky too

Nice that there are still some out there, dubious sales strategy on their part since it's already in-store only.

I saw this deal a few days ago and had my jaw drop as well. I told my GF about it and said it would be an excellent upgrade for her over her older AMD setup. She agreed and we went down to the Metcalf store here in Kansas City. And ... bummer, they were sold out. But, the guy told me they were upgrading people to the 3570K for the same $99 dollars.

We picked up the CPU, a 3570K for $99 and the ASRock Extreme 4 Motherboard for $134. They also gave us an additional $40 off as a bundle discount. We paid around $212 or so with tax for both items.

holy.. shit..

I might have to go down to Boston.

Every store shows out of stock on the website.... Wonder what they had per store for stock? 2....

Sweet Jesus! if I didnt already have one I would be all over this :p

If it is true they said they made them look like they were OOS, then it just backfired, because obviously anyone would have to go into the store to get them (its not like the people who ordered online were not going to go into the store) but lots of people like me did not bother going to the store because it said OOS online.

Wouldn't surprise me if they did this. In a large city area like orange county California a hot deal like this sells out fast and if MC has no CPUs to go with their motherboards or other hardware it makes selling computer hardware tough.

I've been calling MC for a week off and on when I get time to check on availability of 3770k and they never pick up the phone. WEB site shows 3770k out of stock.

I5-3570k for $99 in Yonkers, NY. They would not do the combo. I feel ripped off for paying so much money for my 2500k at MC almost two years ago.

Anyone had any luck at the Philly or NJ store? Both are like an hour away from me and probably not worth the drive just to find out if they will sell for $99.

I picked up a 3770K from MC on friday and the 2500k was definately OOS.
They looked for like 20 mins in the back and confirmed it with me (the i7 was not actually for me, would have loved to pick up a 2500k to replace my old ass Q6600).

EDIT:
Also, they had 15 in stock at 9AM when I called them, by 4PM they only had 3 3770K's left on the shelf.

Well, my friend apparently picked up mine in MN for me. So I should have a 2500k on it's way to me soon. I'm looking at a Gigabyte board on Newegg for around $65 with 8GB of free ram. I might be selling off a Q6600+Board and maybe ram too soon. That will be the last out of 3x Q6600 processors gone from my house.

Went to my local MC today and the guy said some ordered online were not picked up and will go back on sale at midnight. Just a head up.

edit: This is the Chicago MC.

So the MN MicroCenter apparently canceled duplicate orders or orders where people bought more than one. So they might have some more here soon. I know one of mine was canceled.

I tried to buy one in NoVA but they were all "on hold" for people who made orders online. They would not let me get another processor for $99.

Wow what a deal. Any comparison on this to a phenom II x4?

Not much of one. The X4 is a good chip and if youve got an AMD motherboard and wanting an upgrade from something like an Athlon then you can pick up an X4 for around $100, overclock it and youll have a very solid processor. But apples to apples, the 2500K is head and shoulders above anything AMD has to offer despite being last generation.

So you were able to one but wanted another? That store is full BS:mad: I went the morning the deal went live and saw a bunch in the case. Sales guy gave me a slip to purchase at the register. After waiting in line for 20 min the cashier said they have none left.

So from the time I walked in they had 71, and after waiting in line for 20min the system showed -2. I walked back to the case that was full of them and they were all gone. Turns out they took them all from there and put them on a cart to fill online orders. I was furious but they stated all the ones left are to fill web orders. Few members on another forum were able to walk in a buy one that same night.

Oh mfer... I just upgraded the HTPC to a 3570....... Bought the combo deal from the NoVA store.
