Hello, having trouble getting this to work at gigabit speed:
http://www.asus.com/Eee/EeeBox_PC/EeeBox_PC_B202/

So far, i tryed another cable, disconnecting everything from the switch (this one is gigabit ofc), forcing to do 1gb in card properties, but no way, it always stay at 100mbps.
Running on winxp sp3.

While i doubt it, could it be that its the pc itself, not powerful enough to archieve that? even though specs say GB ethernet?

what kind of switch/router are you using ? I have a GB switch that is dying slowly and no longer gives GB speed to some port, try to put it in a different port on the switch/router

Check your cables too, make sure they're Cat5e or Cat6 (Cat5 won't allow gigabit), and if they're home made jobs that the wiring is correct (4 wires correct for 100Mbit, 8 wires correct for gigabit?)

Category should be written on the cable

Tplink SG1005D switch, fairly new... Pc on my sig is connected to it and works correctly at GB.

Yeah, did that too, they are cat5e and cat6... As i mention above, my other pc, located right to this one, works fine... Though its on windows 7...

Dont know what more to do...

Try deleting the network adapter from Device Manager, restart machine, and see if re-initializes at GbE.

Bad port on the router/switch perhaps?

Edit: Try a new or older driver?

Nah, already changed ports, even disconnected everything, an as i said my other pc on sig works fine on the same switch.

Older an latest drivers same result.
Just finished a clean install of win7 sp1 and as i expected, 100mbps...

IS your NIC set to 1Gbps full duplex? Right click Nic card in Device manager>advance tab>speed and duplex>drop down box.

I had to set mine to 1gbps full duplex. It auto negotiated at 100Mbps because of ISP Router...

Also check for auto disable gigabit.

He's running on EeeBox...getting a new NIC pretty much means getting a new PC.

All the more incentive. Those boxes are sleek junk. If a turd could be polished...

I'd say an auto-negotiation fail is going on and if forcing it to 1Gbps doesn't take hold after everything then your best bet would be to find a cheap replacement and verify. If that isn't possible than you'll need to make due until you can upgrade.
