XFX making Nvidia Cards again ?

I've seen a low end GT520 XFX model recently in a store as well.

you never know, seeing how AMD is doing nowadays. Be nice if they picked up nvidia again, lifetime warranty is great.

Probably starting off as a lower tier partner trying to get going again. Maybe the writing is on the wall for AMD and companies in the business know more than we do. Times have certainly not looked as bad for AMD as they do now so who knows.

I believe XFX stopped offering the highend cards around the GeForce 8 or 9 Series, but continued offering the budget GT Series of the 240, 430, 520, and 610/620/630/640. I remember seeing them at Compusa and Bestbuy, and wondering why XFX still sold those.

Yep the last round of high-end card's XFX manufactured was the 2nd rev 9800GTX +. The only card's I've seen from XFX after that is mainly the GT240, 430 and 520, didn't know they also had the 6"" series as well. Either way, the quality of their card's both for nvidia and mainly ATi are far less impressive then what it was back in the Geforce 8""" day's, good old XXX edition cards.

Seeing as I've personally seen the XFX 285, they must have made other 200 series cards. Or did the 9800GTX+ come out with those still for some reason?

I remember the collective orgasm of those glad XFX took up with ATi. Now they get slammed for poor customer service on a regular basis.

XFX was a premium brand with nvidia. Comparable to EVGA. Now they can't give HD 7950 or 7970s away.

There was a time when XFX was a premium brand? I guess I really am young. I've never known them for anything other than for having cheap and inefficient coolers.

No no no... XFX was going to save AMD from the horrors of Sapphire and Powercolor.

Those cards are based on Fermi I believe, which is the last Nvidia card XFX produced, so my guess is they are able to produce them and they will cause those cards sell quite well.

My GTX 260 is XFX, they sold all of the different 200 series too (I was going to get a 285 from them too but no monies...). The 260 has ran fine since forever (and is one of the quietest cards 've ever owned), not sure what temperatures it gets to, because it's not monitored, it's still under warranty I believe (though i'd probably get a AMD back if I ever sent it in, which would be kind of pointless...:D).

Which are all based on the 9800. So really you are getting a re-brand of a re-brand of a revamped 9800. NV castrated many well known partners. BFG for example. XFX would be wise to stick with AMD, and if they can get NV back that would be smart too. Nothing wrong with AMD cards.

 In what universe is a Fermi GPU a revamped 9800? Low-end cards of the 200-400-500 series sometimes used older rebranded GPUs, but those were not Fermis.

Thanks KrylonArt... You pretty much nailed it.
-We actually never stopped making the Low-Mid Range GT model cards, and don’t foresee us stopping.
-As far as our high-end graphics I honestly don’t know the details why we don’t do high end Nvidia units, but our focus will continue to be Radeon for now when it comes to performance.

Any reason why you didn't attempt to defend or offer explanations about the complaints regarding your companies perceived view as offering sub par CS and "crappy" coolers?

I'm not trolling you, I am seriously interested..

Probably because arguing about stuff on the internet generally makes you look stupid.
Besides that, I don't know where you saw sub par CS. Just the fact that they have a rep here on [H] says that they care. As for their coolers, again I haven't heard anything about them having bad ones. If you read the reviews you will see that the coolers they use are if nothing else a better choice than reference. XFX as a brand speaks for itself in the hardware reviews.

This thread was supposed to be about XFX selling Nvidia, so I’ll try to keep the response short. I believe we do a good job with our CS and most people that have talked with our technicians would probably agree. Unfortunately, customer service involving a computer part usually means something is broken, and by that nature many people are upset from the start (no one likes having a broken video card and a computer down), but we do try hard to get people up and running as quickly as possible.

Yeah, unfortunately it’s too easy to get into a public shouting match with a client claiming one thing, us claiming another, and 50 people jeering to get a rise out of the parties involved. We like to keep it simple, tickets, phone calls, all one on one interactions. You may notice if we get involved with a complaint thread here at [H]ard it usually involves a request for a PM so we can look up details. Any Hard member can PM me at any time with any sort of concern, from a simple question about our products, to questions about tech support, customer service, RMA’s, ect.

They do?

I've had to deal with XFX customer support before for their ATI cards and I've never had a problem with them. If I need to do a RMA they'll ask the usual level 1 tech questions before sending an RMA, but I've never had to wait long for a new card.

I'm not saying nobody has ever had a bad experience with them, but I definitely haven't heard any complaints.

Their after market coolers, however, aren't that great though...

Iv only owned 1 XFX card and it will be my last as the coolers and quality are rubbish. They did however make me switch to an NVIDIA card so i am very grateful for that .Maybe if they spent less on the nice shiny boxes and more on the actual cards that would help. Its just my personal opinion but XFX are for AMD what Palit are for NVIDIA. Cheap and not very cheerful.

If you google around then a lot of people agree that MSI for AMD/NVIDIA and EVGA for NVIDIA are the top makers just now with regards to warranties, customer support and quality.

A lot of it is perception. While everyone raves about EVGA (and I'm not saying they don't give excellent CS) they've reduced their support pretty drastically in the last year or so. No more lifetime warranty, pay money to get a 5yr or pay more for a 10 year warranty, and you have to purchase one of the extended warranties to be eligible for their step up program. If you do step up you lose the extended warranty you purchased. It does not transfer to your new card. It will only have the 3yr warranty.

XFX's custom coolers don't cool the VRM's very well compared to some other AMD partners. They actually cool the GPU quite well and are quiet. VRM's can operate at very high temps though (Everyone remember Fermi?). There aren't a lot of threads around where people have bought XFX cards and the power stages blew up or anything. There haven't been any "RMA and we'll give you a free upgrade no questions asked" episodes (670 FTW). Now, that was definitely a very classy move by EVGA, but there was a quality problem with their product that made them do that in the first place.

No business is perfect and im no evga/msi fanboy. I do realize they make plenty of mistakes themselves but in regard to XFX making NVIDIA cards id rather they didn't. XFX does things like this - http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1601246 which we don't need. Im all for competition but id like to see a company challenge msi/evga and XFX are not the company to do that. NVIDIA doesn't need them.

I like their lifetime warranty, but I too HATE how they try to mess with the reference design to increase their profit margins.

If they stuck with reference design and actually put work in to the R&D of the card (cooling, etc), rather than marketing and packaging, I would have no trouble buying from them.

I am a Sapphire fanboy though, never had any issues with them or their RMA process (though I will admit that I have never owned an XFX card).

I never asked, nor attempted to start an "argument" of any sort:rolleyes:..There have been numerous complaints of RMA run arounds, and their coolers not cooling as well as others, as mentioned in this thread. I have owned quite a few XFX cards, both from the old Nvidia days and the AMD performance group, and they are not built any where near as nicely as MSI and Gigabyte offerings...

This is a classic example of what I am referring to. Many of us that have made the jump to watercooling would never go back to air, and if I purchased a card that was stated to be compatible with a fullcover block and then ran into this kinda issue, I would be beyond pissed off..It would be one thing if XFX stepped up and announced something like this, as to me its a HUGE deal for the watercooling crowd.
