Amazon now sells wine online. It doesn't say how they are going to keep underage people from using the service but this is still kind of cool.

Starting today, customers can ship up to six bottles of their favorite wine for $9.99. At launch, shipping will be available to California, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming and the District of Columbia, with more coming soon.

well havent they technically been selling wine for a while now?

amazon bought out woot, which has had wine.woot for years at this point

Shipping costs are almost as much as 6 bottles of Two Buck Chuck.

Amazon has been providing free whine for years though. Just sample all the product reviews. :)

Someone underage can order the wine online, but just like any vendor that ships alcohol, an adult signature is required for delivery.

Interesting, though it is not available in my state yet. I hope they will eventually expand this to include craft beer.

looks like alot of it is from third party sellers...

Paying shipping? hmmm...no. I go to Costco for my wine. They sell decent stuff.

They sell to the same states as Wine Woot, where I buy my wines online now. Good thing I work in Chicago (I live in Chesterton, Indiana). I always ship my Wine Woot wine to my office.

I live in Chicago, and went to Indian one Sunday and decided to pick up some cheap booze...You can probably guess how that ended.

Also I wonder if my Prime Shipping will work for this.

No, what happened? I never have problems buying liquor in Indiana. You just have to have a state issued ID (drivers license, etc). You just can't buy them online or on Sundays.

I'm glad "decent stuff" is a relative definition.

Indeed.

My walk-in store of choice for wine is Pastoral Artisan Cheese and Wine. Great selections there. Also Butler winery in my home town.

None of that boxed Ernest and Gallo crap.
