Yep, be prepared for a challenge though, most enemies dish out enough damage to kill you in only a few shots or less, and some of them can be serious bullet sponges until you find some more powerful weapons.
If you do not want to play same old game in PT2 just try some coop online games. Choose games with slightlu higher level players. Say level 39, 40.
It will be tough, fun and you will level up your character very fast.
Online play isn't possible for me.
I hope the challenge is enough to keep me interested in the game on the second play through. I just want to take out the two level 52 bosses. I'll start working on it and see how it goes.
If you can't play online, then I suggest finding that 4 player hack -- you can get better exp and loot as if you were in a multiplayer... be warned though, 4 players = assrape if you're in a tough spot.Online play isn't possible for me.

after running dozens of tests with and without that mod I can't say the loot is any better at all. at best you will be fighting more badasses which can have drops, but oranges... no. Also, apparently testing was performed to set the 5% rare mod to 1 million percent. The only thing it did was remove the chance of getting whites. It did not improve the chance for oranges. And finally with the way the loot system works the chance for good loot from vending machines, regular mobs and badasses is zero. Red text loot can be often gotten from mission bosses (3-5%). They can usually be hit up repeatedly afterward to retry. Warrior usually sucks. Terra will always give an orange mod. The leviathan treasury room has the highest rates I have seen and even that is not that great. Hyperius and Gee also have sucky loot, and if you let the poison kill Gee you get virtually nothing. The only thing I have not tested is vermi, and apparently he can be difficult to create.
so how exactly does the online gaming work? I never get anything when browsing. I can quick join games and that sometimes works. A person joined my game once. I have tried seeing if there are any ports to be opened but did not find any aside from "it uses steam". Well, I used to play TF2 fine...
Are you in PT2.5?
nvm, I see my stuff is at level 48. maybe you need to do it the second time also
I'm in PT2. But I did so that I started PT2 at level 38 just to reach the first fast travel station. from there, without finishing PT2 I went stright to Oasis to have stronger enemies then on PT1. It worked very well. Pirates started from level 40. But I reached Leviathan at level 45 and this is where it stuck for now
this is the same thing I did. Switched to PT2 to do the DLC because other wise it would have been WAY to easy. I think I started at level 35 and ended up at level 40 by the time I finished.
By the time I hit the end of the DLC, it was just running through everything. Even the boss was not an issue.
I did not run through DLC becaus at level 38 Cursed pirates were at level 40 and were quite difficult to kill.
Man, if you hit lvl 38 on PT1, you waaaayyy out leveled the difficulty. I think I was lvl 32, and it was a cakewalk, can't imagine at 38. Give PT2 and go, you'll get your ass kicked I promise. All your guns you think are awesome at the end of PT1 are a complete joke on the second go round.
Honestly, the spike in difficulty for Pt 2 has really killed my interest in BL2 for the time being. My last chance for it is to try a few different builds and see if they help, but I'm getting damn tired of dying every 30 seconds. And usually my "fight for your life" mode expires with an enemy at 1-5% health. Borderlands 1 is my most played game on Steam, which makes it all the more frustrating.
In before "you just suck at games" comments. Bottom line is once a game becomes this frustrating, it stops being fun for me.

just beat the warrior and no orange weapon. i saw a couple of items underneath his body. left the area, ran back, the warrior respawned. killed him AGAIN and looked around, still no orange.
i was under the impression that the first time you beat the warrior he drops an orange?
It may have fallen under his body, which makes it impossible to get. Sucks, and they still haven't fixed it.

after killing him a 2nd time, i despawned the body successfully and still nothing...can they fall into the lava?
What class do you play?

Same. I stopped playing at around level 42. Playing as a zero, needing 5-6 headshots to kill a regular guy is frustrating; I rarely even sniped anymore, just ran around with my shotgun. I'm sure once I found a better weapon it would help, but I hadn't found anything in quite a while. D3 and BF3 have regained my interest after I pumped something like 60 hours into BL2 in a ridiculously short period of time.
The spike is due to your weapons being underpowered for the level. I thought the same thing until I took some time and farmed some weapons and boy did it make a difference. I find the difficulty refreshing especially with some mobs having special attacks or armor.
Also remember, in PT1, the difficulty level is VERY forgiving if you like to Rambo into the fray. In PT2 you have to use enviromental cover, wait for shields to recharge, use grenades to soften them up and/or get position (singularity mods) and just plain play smart. Also elemental damage comes into play along with Badass rankings. This is why you have to carry a diverse arsenal even though the damage may not be optimal compared to your main weapon class. I carry two sniper rifles with my main being corrosive and some electrical damage to blow apart enemy shields. Slaging enemies also helps me do more damage to tick their life away. Every bit of damage helps.
I'm in pretty much the same situation here. I finished PT1 and the DLC but am around a level 38 with no real good weapons. Rather than be frustrated by PT2, I'm just ready for the next DLC.

Silly question... how do I get into the pirate DLC area?
Really dislike the mechanic of global AoE attack that you can not shield against or dodge in any way. What a silly idea Gearbox.
Still have not defeated Hyperius... tried 7 times now. What an absolute bastard he is. Really dislike the mechanic of global AoE attack that you can not shield against or dodge in any way. What a silly idea Gearbox.
Using legendary weapons, such as Infinity and legendary shield and class mod.. no bee yet. I can not wait to find that damn shield! I guess I need a baby maker and more Max Health.
