Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

I switched up from dual wielding to a two hander and it made a huge difference. I had a compromise of losing/gaining stats but found a very good Grandfather with a full set of stats including crit and a 1.22 attack speed for only 3 million. Using HoA I crit for 1.3 million damage but I'm now using Rend in its place.

Even at 43k damage MP3 was comfortable but yay, 64k damage makes it fun.

1handed weapons are better as u can stack up critical hit dam on both and its faster too.

The more they change on this game the more I get sucked in... really enjoying it right now.

I have a geared CM/WW wizard and geared bard that can handle up to MP2 easily and MP3/4 with some more stratigec playing (my farm rate slows down so I don't run it much).

Anyone on here play regularly (Soft Core)? Looking for guys to farm with.

On my barb I'm using a Skorn, 130% base crit dmg, and a socket, added 70% crit gem. It also has 340str on it. Better than anything else I've seen for the money.

Running a Hota/bash/leap build. Fun popping WOTB and critting elites for 1.2 million a swing :)

Yeah I'm on quite a bit. I'll add you.

Yeah i dropped my WD and went to a barb... within 5 million borrowed gold I'm up to 75k dps and I can steamroll MP2, until I run into reflect damage.... (I hate that affix)

try doing 200k DPS and running into reflect damage. Pretty much an instant kill for me. I keep a shield in my inventory specifically for this.

Well of course 1 handers are better for attack speed and stat stacking. It is more difficult on average to find those weapons for a good price, though. I have a trio of 800dps-ish 1 handers lying around in my stash that I can't seem to sell, haha

My barb is cleave/rend/revenge/Wotb with some loh and life steal. I love cleave!

Yeah 800 dps isn't much. I actually just sold mine to the vendor a few days ago because I got tired of listing them. I did pick up an 1100 dps (echoing fury I think ) last night for 1.5 million which I thought was a pretty good buy. I'll be testing it out today when I get home.

I really enjoy this game now with paragon, key bosses, and working cc... but without a single drops it's starting to get old. Hope they fix this shit.

What MP are you playing at and what is your MF?

If you actually have MF then it is just rng and as long you keep playing you'll get stuff. If you don't have MF then a decent portion of the blame for not getting loot is purely in your shoes.

Edit: Kill speed also comes in to play. It's about quantity over quality. If you take 20 minutes to kill an elite pack on mp10 you'd be better off just plowing everything over on mp5 for example.

I think i have a little over 200 MF without any stacks or ML set. Me and my buddy were farming act 1-2 on ML2 and act 3 on ML1.

Apparently my other buddy gets a legendary 1 every 3 runs (or so) with about 100 MF on ML 4+

Also, sorry for my constant bitching. Ranting to you fools is a form of catharsis though, so it keeps me from punching my monitor.

It's all luck, man. I forgot to set the MP level one game and found 2 legendaries on MP0. I switched it back to MP3 and didn't get another for a day then had 5 in 6 games at paragon 20 with no additional mf

can someone tell me how to set monster power, where the keys are for these key runs and where the best farm spots are?

as long as your having fun just keep playing. You'll get that drop that nets you a few million so you can get better gear. Just takes time and effort. Until then level up that paragon.

or you can skip the time and effort part and spend some cash. I mean if your having fun playing the game you can spend 50 bucks get 100 million gold gear up and become more efficient then spend the next 500 hours selling items and gold on RMHA to make your 50 bucks back.

- Click the MP-related checkbox in the Gameplay Options menu; select your quest and select what MP you want. Sometimes MP turns off between games due to a bug so you might need to check the box again in that case.

- All the Infernal Machine and Keywarden info: New Event: The Infernal Machine

- Not sure there is a "best" spot to farm, but I'm partial to Act 3 spots like "The Barracks", "The Forward Barracks", and other similar dungeons. Whether that's because I've had good luck there in the past or because they're actually good farming spots, I can't tell you, but they tend to have a lot of enemies all bunched up and, as someone above said, quantity > quality. Every area seems to have the same chance to drop any item, so just hit the areas with lots of enemies.

One more thing, I was more than a little surprised (and entertained) when I got a legendary belt FROM A CHEST the other night. I was in one of those little one-room dungeons off the Dahlgur Oasis (A2) and when I opened a regular small chest out popped a legendary (Hellcat's Waist Guard). That is the type of thing I play Diablo games for, so it's nice that they're finally putting Diablo stuff in their Diablo game instead of nerfing everything in a vain attempt to control "the economy".

Yeah, I've actually been playing my WD a lot lately. She has become my "main" alt lol. What mojo did you find? I found a pretty decent Thing of the Deep. I get a kick out of when people say that these mojos are selling for nothing. Look up Thing of the Deeps that have a double int roll, socket and maybe vit. Still very expensive. But overall I think WDs are still the sleeper class, not sure why they aren't more popular.

It's 100+ INT/VIT, 8.5% crit, +mana, 85-300(ish?) damage if I remember correctly. Looking at the AH I see similar rolls for only a few hundred thousand.

Same; I got a crappy Andariels Visage and an Issa's chest yesterday, but that's it. In the same amount of runs (actually, 1 less) a friend of mine got 3 legendaries.

I've been trying to get Leoric's Signet, but so far no dice. On the bright side, the Immortal King's set belt dropped yesterday. Now to flip that and get my Wizard some proper armor.

That sounds right for that. Really nice mojos that I am talking about are 200+int, some vit, 8%crit, 200+ avg damage, plus maybe a socket. If you look at those on a thing of the deep or a nice serpent you'll be looking at many millions. But ofcourse you can get a common thing of the deep for under a mil.

You do know that Leo Signet drops in normal, right? Its only like a lvl 15 ring. The reason I say this is due to the fact that you also said you got an IK belt which implies you're farming inferno and you'll never find a leo that way.

Just work on crafting a hellfire ring, they have 35% bonus xp which is way better than any leo you can get.

Oh, I'm a n00b. The IK belt dropped in Act 1 Inferno. I've been farming Act 2 Normal for Leoric's Signet :) The game is kind of fun when I can run my Monk around and everything just dies.

That's what I meant though; an equivalent wizard's sigil with the same stats as the mojo I'm trying to sell would probably be 4M+.

Yea i don't know why wizards are so damn expensive to gear, but i stupidly spent 600k yesterday on two items, which were measly upgrades. I really have to dump 1M+ on an item to feel it's a good upgrade.

And gold just doesn't flow that fast. I've played a lot this week, and probably only netted 400k gold. My buddy was nice enough to give me his old immortal kings gloves (because he got an upgraded version to drop, that motherfucker), so i sold that for 200k.

Before when I was playing I would find at least a few people playing A2 Inferno quests now I see nothing on the inferno games to join. I've made it to act 3, but really with my gear and gold act 2 is about where I can farm without constant death whats up with this?

Wait till you need to spend 20 or 30m per measly upgrade... GFG monks :( :(

Wizard is no more expensive than other classes really.

Instead of spending 600k on 2 items you should of spent 600k on 1 item.

You really want to buy the absolute best piece of gear you can afford. This way it will last you longer before you have to upgrade and your less likely to find something on the floor that is better.

the only real way to get large amounts of gold is to sell the items you find or bought or spend cash.

I think my next upgrade is about 150 million for new gloves.

If you're playing a lot and not getting any good items that's one thing, but also not getting much gold is quite another. Even in just a few play sessions of picking up piles and selling blues you should be able to get more than 400K, unless you're dying a lot? If that's the case then perhaps you need to take a page out of the D2 playbook and roll a character that is better at farming and cheaper to gear than your Wizard: a Barb (although the 25% damage reduction today should make it more tolerable for all classes).

Here's a related topic for you from the official forums with some decent advice: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/6934195771

I've been able to farm Act1 MP3 reasonably well on my wiz...with the 25% dmg reduction it should be cake.

Stupid midterms. I'd like to spend some more time in this game. I made it to Act 3 Inferno with my DH and would like to attempt to start farming it (No plans to kill Inferno Diablo) and jump into some MP levels. I'd also like to start trying to farm materials for some Hellfire Rings.

Inferno got nerfed so badly. Ghom is a joke now. In 1.0.4 I remember spending hours on Ghom. It felt like a WoW raid since you had to have perfect execution or get suffocated from poison clouds. You can be half asleep in 1.0.5 and still take Ghom down. I finally beat inferno because of 1.0.5.

Did they up the drops even when MP wasn't enabled?

With the 1.0.5 patch, yes. Blizz doubled drop rates for sets/legendaries. Also, in inferno, ilvl below 58 cannot drop anymore.

Monks biggest point of suffering is "I need too much stuff on gear"

Between the double resists and then all the other Monk stuff it just gets excessive and you can't actually get everything you need

God fucking damnit. I'm so pissed. I accidentally sold my hat and didn't realize it until I left the game. Now I'm fucked, and they won't even let you submit a ticket for that issue. Grats 30m hat down the shitter for a customer service issue that would take 2 minutes to fix and they just flat out won't even look at it. Bullshit. I've had stuff in other games where I sold the item years ago and customer service would dig the logs and find it and give it back, yet I can't submit a ticket to get something back I fucked up 30 seconds ago?

Well, you can, but you'll be spending a fortune for it. There are typically 3-5 items on the AH with all the right stats per piece of gear. You just need to outbid every other monk in the game who's going after those same 3-5 pieces.

I was talking to someone earlier in game. The monk forums are the absolute worst forums, as half the people their expect low end monks to have 80k dps unbuffed.. But, unlike every other class, we don't have passives to boost our attack.

So, to get an idea of what life like a monk is in dps, try getting 75k+ damage with no passives. Then, because you're a melee class, you need at least 700 resist all. And, not being a barbarian, you also need 3+ life steal on your weapon. Oh, and you can't use any class specific gear such as quivers, sources, etc.

I'm happy that I just hit 55k unbuffed (well not even, more like 54.99k). However, my life is only like 20.3k. I only have 528 all resists because, like you said, resist all + One With Everything resist = $$$$$. I only have crappy loh/life steal, but still manage 33% crit and 376% crit damage.

Well, this is how most monks did it I think. Sacrifice survivability for all out damage. That worked fine pre 1.05 where the goal was just to kill things before serentiy ran out. But with monster power and reflect damage, it's not really as viable of an option. Hence why a lot of monks are complaining about reflect damage on the forums. I myself have about 50k dps, and don't even notice reflect damage. In fact, it's one of the few attributes I want on an elite. All it really does is slow down my life regen for me.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck at mp4 for farming. While I can go higher, it's not nearly as efficient, and I just don't have the gold to upgrade.

Reflect is not a big deal for me. Just trying to balance stuff is getting expensive. I dropped 300 armor and 300 hitpoints for 15k damage and about 100 more resist to everything. I would like my armor higher, but that's expensive to gear for while still having all the other things monks look for in gear. Vitality is basically a luxury at this point. I'm lucky that I haven't dropped below 20k hp. I may have to swap back to Evasion and Hard Target.

I can equip this ring that I found earlier if it doesn't sell on AH. 93 str, 88 vita, 88 int, 77 resist all, 42 cold resist (my resist for OWE), 4.5% crit. That would bump my resistances to something like 650 for all. Damage drops by like 3k. I gain a bit of armor though. I may go that route if the ring doesn't sell.

Found out I can rock MP5 with the hotfix. 288% mf with 5 stacks and a full run netted me barb friendly lacuni prowlers. I might back it down to mp3 or mp4 and use them for the extra run speed/attack speed since I lose 80+ resist from my regular bracers to the prowlers. Goddamn it is becoming difficult to replace gear.

So the "crappy" set piece I found, Issa's chest, netted me 10.6M after the AH. Not bad! Got a Tal Rasha's chest, great for a LOH CM/WW build. Got another legendary; this one...sells on the AH for 2,600. No, I'm not missing a M. :p Even with dex/vit on a monk helm, it's a POS.

I haven't found any legendaries yet, but my MF sucks balls. At any rate....Legendary stuff on the AH is SO CHEAP now. This is awesome. I got some 1-Hand axe for my barb that is 990dps for like 60k!!

I found a Stormshield the day after 1.0.5 hit. I thought I lucked out for a few million. I check the AH and you can get some for 35k buy out.

But then I sold a high damage rolled Oculus yesterday for 30 million.

This happened to me about 2 months ago. Accidentally quipped some boots I found when identifying, then vendored my inventory. Didn't realize until several days later. They were only 5 million or so, 30 million would sting even worse. Needless to say, I'm more careful about such things now. They should give you an option to "lock" your equipped items so you get a confirmation message anytime you want to equip, like you said an easy fix they aren't smart enough to implement
