GoPro Hero3 announced

In 4 Black Hero3. Glad I waited, I needed to buy one before December for a vacation, Lucky!

Interesting how there is this much variation for the 3 series. I would love to see just how much low-light performance has improved on the black model compared to the Hero2.

Also what is the deal with the higher megapixel count? I'm surprised point and shoot specs carry much weight in what is primarily a video recorder, especially when I would assume the increased pixel count would negatively impact low-light video performance.

btw thanks for the heads up OP. :D

720p 120fps

Yeah....just think of all the funsies you could have with that feature alone. I wonder if it is like some of the other cameras in that it won't do audio at that frame rate.

They have a pretty cool video ad for the black edition. http://youtu.be/A3PDXmYoF5U

Thanks, I should have posted that originally.

The increased pixel density is apparently what helps with the low-light performance. Watch the video that MN Scout posted. There is a shot (around the 2:00 mark) showing a motorcycle going from sunlight, into a tunnel, and then back out again. The boundary transition is definitely noticeable but the overall performance seems pretty good.

One thing that I was disappointed in is the shot of the airplane. This camera suffers the same CMOS drawback as all the others when it comes to high speed objects. That distortion effect is really annoying when doing flight videos.
