For the umpteenth time, Apple is warning any users still on MobileMe storage service that they have until September 30th to reduce their storage to 5GB or lose the overage to cyberspace. MobileMe users were initially offered 20GB of free storage, but will downgrade free storage capacity to 5GB as of the 30th.

The company said users who have more than 5GB of data stored on their service can either purchase a new plan to cancel the downgrade or delete excessive data prior to the downgrade in order to keep iCloud backup services running.

well i knew this is coming, and i bet in next year or two it'll be either 1GB or you'll have to pay for it for it after a year.

LOL This is kind of funny...and I bet the apple fanboys will gladly offer to pay for storage they were told is free.

What's sad or funny depending on how you look at is that the Apple zealots will defend this decision.

Perhaps they couldn't bear copying what Microsoft did when they grandfathered in all the old Skydrive users?

/Rocking the forever free 25gb, baby

Sorry iUsers we reduced your storage, please move your files or pay us.

I am pretty sure this is a call to stop partying and figure out a way to create sustainable and usable fusion reactors.

You would think they would just flag those large accounts as "full", 20GB out of 5GB available. Make it so customers can't upload/update files until below limit???

I almost considered possibly having a little sympathy for those folks, but nah. <Insert_Simpsons_Nelson_Laugh>

Didn't you have to pay for MobileMe and because of that you got the 20 GB to begin with? Usually if you don't continue paying, they cut you off, sounds like it's time to pay again or you get bumped down to the free tier.

All the cloned backups of the iPhone devices are taking up cloud storage, so we had to cut down the size of the iCloud.

Clearly Apple does not have enough revenue to pay for that 15gbs of space.

Yea no Kidding... I can make up the difference with 2 gmail accounts for free... Guess it's too much to ask if you bought a $2000 laptop or $600 phone from them...
