Sorry phandroids, gone are the days of claiming hardware superiority over the iPhone.

The funny thing is, the 4S scores in the 700 range, and still keeps up with a SGS3 due to iOS6 optimizations. Now we are getting a phone that not only has more raw computing power than the GS3, the software is still just as optimized. It'll take a octo core at 3ghz for Android to match this iPhone in real world tasks.

Some people have gotten their GS3 to top this score, but the average for all GS3s is in the 1500s.

iPhone: Even beats Android tablets in raw horsepower.

EDIT:
And what do we have here? Validation of all my claims:

If this is true that means we have another year of Android phones trying to play catch-up, even as this years iPhone becomes the better part of a year old :p

That's pretty much what they have to do to keep up with new hardware coming out every 6-8 months. The new Exynos 5 dual-core, S4-Pro and OMAP 5 SoCs should be in some phones by the end of the year (hopefully in the next Nexus). I'm sure they'll pass it up again. The current Exynos 4 quad and Tegra 3 chips right right behind it right now. I actually thought the A6 would have more of a lead than that.

That's like saying the 360 is more powerful than the PS3 when they're entirely different platforms and only as powerful as a game developer and game engine lets them be.

However, iOS does have Fart Cat.

no wait but the next generation of android phones is going to BLOW YOU AWAY.

So a brand new phone beats older hardware?

Like everything else in hardware, the IPhone will be surpassed later with newer android phones.

But when a new android phone comes out, guess what people will be saying? The same god damn thing as this.

So when the Snapdragon S4 Pro devices launches this year in November, it will take how long for Apple to catch up?

So funny that it finally beats a Tegra 3, which launched last November...

Even the most advanced PC can run like shit with a poor interface. No amount of performance can make up for other more important aspects. Was the iPhone 4s really that slow? Give me enough hardware performance to make it fluid and then give me a bigger battery and a better interface. (That's the balance of Windows Phone)

I expected Android fans to claim that there will be an Android phone out soon that beats this.

But that is missing the point,

iOS does more with less. Thats why a 4S, with waaaay less power than an S3, could keep up.

Now we have a phone with supercharged hardware, still running the super efficient iOS.

Even if an Android phone comes out that scores 2500, it still wont match the iPhone 5 in real world performance.

Sucks to be an Androiud fan right now. Losing out on both raw power AND efficiency.

And yet a WP8 will also be running with high-end Android hardware. The same Snapdragon S4 Pro will be appearing with WP8 before years end.

And we all know how a Nokia 800 with a single-core processor kept up with the iPhone 4S...

Talk about raw power and "super" efficiency? GET A WINDOWS PHONE!

Are people so insecure about their *phones* they have to brag about a synthetic benchmark?

Do you know how fast and efficient my App drawer on my G3III is? Its so fluid, probably scores like 100000 points! Point is the UI on an Iphone is not a whole lot different than my App drawer and still I have widgets running in the background and apps in Memory... etc etc and its all really smooth. Iphone 5 does not make me envious at all.

"Poole acknowledges that any pre-release results on Geekbench have a chance of being faked, but he seems to believe that these results are legitimate."

Did nobody read the link that shows the S3 running Jellybean, which thousands are already using, scored 200 points more than the IP5?This article is bunk

Our local Apple pot stirrer kre62 is

The only reason is that I see so many Android lovers creaming their pants about quad core 1.5ghz processors, etc. Never considering that those numbers might not matter when it comes to real world performance, and trying to criticize the iPhone for having a lower mhz number.

Now, the iPhone5 crushes the competition, including the quad core S3. And what do we see?

Minimization from the android fans.

Not surprising.

Yeah you can hack your phone into running faster on the benchmark side.

But again, the 4S which scores 680 keeps up with the GS3 in actual performance. So to keep up with the ip5 the GS will need an octo core 3ghz processor. Thats the inefficiency and bloat of Android/Java.

It isnt a hack, its the new OS build leak which is to be released officially any day now, which from all accounts is bug free now.

What are you talking about? Is this the entire "feel" thing again? You can't measure how a phone feels because it is subjective. Seriously, go back to your Apple cave and enjoy yourself there where everyone goes on raving how Apple is the best thing since sliced bread.

More actual LEGIT benches coming out now, shock and horror, once the Apple spin machine is actually checked out, it actually turns out the s3 is nearly 500 points faster ;)

iPhone 5: 1601
Samsung S3: 2087

I promise you the iPhone5 will outperform the S3 on jellybean in real world performance.

What do I mean by that? I mean downloading web pages, opening email, loading apps....the stuff you do with your phone.

Not just "feel"

I get why people like Android. You can steal stuff. Thats terrific. But stop trying to act like its because the hardware is superior.

Ehm, lol. I think you completely missed the point there. iPhone is for people who want a simple phone, while Android is for those who want to mod it and customize it.

I could say the same thing about Apple, you can pretend that it loads faster by 0.01s and that it is smoother, but stop trying to act like it actually matters to anyone.

Thats a great theory, but lets deal with the facts as we know them and that is so far the IP5 in processing power is getting trounced worse than Bulldozer did by SandyBridge.

really? #1, a single core windows phone is faster than most phones(iphone included) in u know. opening email, loading web pages, making a phone call, things you do with your phone.

#2, it is far easier to "steal stuff" on an iphone than it is on android,

plug i phone in to comp
open jail break app
jail break
load repository "x"
install 1 app

it takes less than 10 minutes to have access to a big chunk of apps from the app store for free.

OTOH on android, it's not so easy.

Just saying.

of course the iphone is able to "do more" with less powerful hardware... it can only do 1 thing at a time while my gnex is at any given time is running 4-5 apps AT THE SAME TIME

Lol, thats actually a detriment. You cant look at those apps at the same time, so your battery is killed needlessly.

Anything you need to do in the background, like GPS, music, etc, can be done with iPhone multitasking.

Once again Apple accomplishes the core of why you would need something in the most efficient and power saving manner. True engineering genius. Sorry you are too blind to see true innovation.

As of today, iphone 5 is king. If and When SGS3 users actually get an official update to JB, the sammy will pull ahead in this benchmark. Lets wait until that day.

Other benchies for the 5 coming in at 1650+

Its a good day to be an iPhone user

no, im running 4 widgets on my home screen telling me 4 different things then I have music playing in the background. There is nothing innovative about only having row after row of icons. I am not saying the iphone is a bad phone, im just saying there are more powerful phones on the market that can do more. Im sorry that your blinded by your apple fanaticism

Im running JB right now, enjoying my 2000+ phone. Its a GREAT day to be an S3 user ;)

will you make up your mind about benchmarks? when you are shown benchmarks showing a a gs3 running a factory JB image that destroys the Iphone5 benchmarks then you go on about how the usability of the iphone 5 is better???

Look at my original post for guidance. My position has not changed.
