Well that didn't take long. :(

The final build of Windows 8 has leaked to the internet, just a day after Microsoft confirmed it had finished the development cycle for the new operating system. Although MSDN and TechNet customers won't officially receive access to the final Windows 8 bits until August 15th, an Enterprise version of Windows 8 is available widely across various file sharing sites.

They should just put some sort of signature on each ent version so they can find out who is leaking their code

Microsoft probably 'leaked' this in an attempt to garner interest. As said above, it will probably be the least pirated version of Windows since ME.

Windows 8. We're secure, because nobody is going to bother to write viruses for an OS nobody will use

Heads up, the leak is an "N" edition of Windows 8 Enterprise, probably not the version most people want.

Waiting for the leak of Windows 8 Professional :D

World's first beta testers. Pirates. Day 1 service pack on release to be announced.

Heh, people here have summed it up enough. I don't even want a pirated version. :D

Saw a hp ultrabook at dse last friday, aside from the "eww, it's a hp", it had a "upgrade to win8 for $15" on it. I told myself I'd rather keep the 15$ and stick with win7. :)

wouldn't you want the N version? It has Windows Media Player removed, that's the best version IMHO!

Uh, no? WMP remains my primary media player until something better rolls along. Used to use WinAMP, but it went to pot...

Well, that's probably the only way they'll increase the adoption rate for win 8. I wouldn't even waste the bandwidth.

I wouldn't pirate Win 8 even if you paid me. Staying on 7 for the foreseeable future.

This is my new OS, it has a higher number indicating advancement, of course it's better.
Installing as my primary right............now!!!

I am buying 5 upgrade licenses when it comes out. Three for me, one for my friend and one for my brother in law. For those who do not like what I am going to do or do not like it, tough shit.

What did they do to you? That's cruel dude...:p

I don't get the hate, Windows 8 works just fine and in some ways better than Windows 7. If you don't like the tiles then you can change your UI. Somehow it's acceptable in the LOLnix thread for people to go on and on about you can customize KDE or Gnome but the same luxury isn't awarded to Windows which too can be customized to essentially look anyway you like.

I'll be changing my personal machines over to Win8 as well as all desktops at work once it comes out. As much as I am amused by the "Win XP 64 forever!" crowd their arguments don't sway me. I'll go with the times if for no other reason that there is no real reason not to.

People don't like change. They see microsoft moving towards where apple is by monetizing apps on windows and micro-transaction and they are right :D. So it's as much a political reason as a preferential one.

More proof that digital restrictions management and anti-customer features like activation do nothing to prevent unauthorized copying.

How do I remove Metro? Oh wait, you can't? So much for customization.

I think a lot of hate here for GNU/Linux derives from deflated egos. You are used to being the computer expert and by switching to a different environment, you are now among the ranks of the novice users and must relearn in order to become an expert again.

too many repetitive and negative comments, closed minds think alike i guess

Windows 8 is great and I use it everyday on my main PC (for around 6 months now) and I also use Windows 7 daily at work. Easy to go back and forth. Live tiles are interesting to look at when you press Start button and File Explorer is 1000x better than it is on 7

Bot-Left Hot Corner, Right-Click is the ultimate IT shortcut - if you don't know what i'm talking about then you haven't really used Windows 8

Well, I haven't seen the RTM yet but in the dev preview it only took a registry edit to essentially disable Metro and revert to a Win7 look. I did see that they removed that option in the consumer preview but my guess is that there will be at the very least unsupported customization to disable Metro.

I will also say that if you do not like Metro then there is little reason to upgrade to 8. Yes the boot times are faster but that alone probably doesn't justify the cost given that the resume times are pretty similar.

In my (limited) experience the hate for the tiles just comes from the desktop looking so vastly different from traditional Windows. Once you start using the tiles it's kind of hard to not like them.

When has Windows ever really been about customizing the UI? At the core of much of the resistance to Windows 8 is it's focus on mobile computing with power efficiency, touch and tablets being the key elements. It makes little sense for Microsoft to put in an off switch that turns off making Windows more mobile where mobility is the driving force in personal computing devices today.

It's not quite than simple. Windows 8 is probably going to be a good bit faster and power efficient than Windows 7 and it has some very nice and easy to use file backup and redundancy options with File History and Storage Spaces. And even if one doesn't like Metro there's a whole slew of Metro apps that are coming, there's going to some that are nice and work great even with keyboards and mice.

That's all crap you want. If other people don't want that...stuff, they should be free to not have it. WIndows 7/vista/Xp had windows classic mode for people who didn't like Aero/whatever XPs thing was called.

The reason they don;t want an off switch, is simple. Because then they can't force people onto the shitty "store", the real reason for this OS, whatever the PR crap likes to say.

Huh? You don't need an off switch to not use the store... just don't click on the Marketplace tile

Read it again. Thats the reason for this whole crappy GUI. Anyone buying crap from the Windows store is silly, the ToS are reason enough to never touch it.

Guess you didn't read the Apple iTunes / App Store ToS.
Citing the ToS as a reason to not use something is meh at best. None of the ToSes out there favor the customer it doesn't matter which company you pick (Amazon, Valve, etc. etc.).

Read what again? The reason for the UI is because it works well across all device types and input methods, and allows for "write once, run anywhere" applications. I happen to quite like metro, it's nice and clean and it flows nicely from my phone to my (x86) tablet to my desktop.

But, that aside, what I said before is still true. You aren't forced to use the marketplace, just don't open it and use desktop apps. Not seeing the issue here...

Am I doing it right? I'm in for one on this one. It's cheap and has a lot of under the hood improvements, couldn't care less about Metro, I'm just gonna use Desktop.
