Strange GTX 680 issue

I am having an odd issue with my GTX680 in that I cannot play full screen media files, through any number of random players (CCCP, VLC, WMP, ect...) or any embedded web players (Youtube, Hulu, Ect...) without my display driver crashing with a kernel related issue and recovering.

The event causes a full video blackout for a short period, then it resolves itself and the issue is consistently repeatable.

The issue did not occur before my last system rebuild, which was this last Thursday. I was using the lastest Nvidia beta driver before the rebuild and after; though I have since rolled back to the last WHQL certified driver and still have the issue.

I am currently in a very minimal stage regarding my installations at this point and thought the issue to be very strange.

I must note that the card handles any game fine still, as well as any number of benchmarking programs with no issue at all.

Any insight into this issue would be appreciated!

I have a similar system and have not encountered the issue. I’m using the latest beta driver from Nvidia. I would try completely uninstalling the NVidia driver and reinstalling. I generally wouldn’t recommend one of those driver cleaner programs but if the above doesn’t work it may be worth giving one a try.
 
What happens if you uninstall the latest Flash, which seems to be buggy? Be sure to downclock cpu, ram, gpu/mem just in case something has gone south in OC land on that 920 system, as a baseline test. (I too have a P6T + 920 + 24GB system ... but with 570)
 
What browser are you using for flash? I have zero issues but i can say Chrome's built-in flash player is all I use.
 
Short term tests show that the memory downclock from 1600 to 1333 may have resolved the issue.

dropping an update:

I've tried several revisions back of flash, any flash installed (other than google chrome integrated, oddly) causes it to crash extremely frequently, even when playing fullscreen video in a discrete application. When no flash is installed, the issue is nearly non-existant.
 
If your memory was actually flaky, maybe you got a bit flipped in a random os or driver file from the recent install ...

If you pop in a Radeon card, all the crashing stops, right? Also, the 680 could actually be defective.

I am considering re-installing the OS again, for no other reason than the issue is consistantly inconsistent.

Also, if the 680 was defective, I would have imagined the issue to present itself under stress, not idle. :|

Those intermediate power states of "not idle but not full load" (ie, video) can be independently flaky.
