ASUS Z77 Motherboards - Official Support Thread

As I said:

"If they need the updates they will get them.".

No idea what the fix lists are at present. They will go up and if those fixes are universally required they will be made. It is ALWAYS the same, just so you guys know for future reference.

Understood, but from my experience, what a manufacturer sees as a need and what the consumer sees as a need are often not the same thing :p

As far as me on this forum over the past year I can tell you my experience is that when updates are posted for one board they usually come for the others if those boards need them, too. It makes no sense for us to hold those back at all. The delays are due to each build needing validation, that is all. If there are no updates its because the BIOS update had fixes that were specific to a particular board. This has no bearing on other future updates for the other models. Now that this has been clarified, I won't bother you guys by posting it again. We can simply wait for the updates next time without needing to hash this out again. :)

Ok, so am I supposed to be able to get SMART info from a drive on the Marvel SATA port? Using a 2TB WD Black, using the same cable, I confirm I get SMART info if I plug the drive into an Intel SATA II or SATA III port, but if I plug it back into the Marvel controller, there's no data. The Marvell driver that's on the ASUS site has been installed and confirmed it shows in the device manager.

Guys from overclockers.ru report that Write Recovery was fixed from 16 to 31 now the memory can be OC more... So this update is needed. Waiting

That helps with DDR3-2800+ only. If you set tWR higher at lower frequencies the latency hit is too big. Most CPUs won't POST above DDR3-2600 regardless because the memory controllers are all over the place above that frequency, just so you know. Plus you need DIMMs that can handle those frequencies, too. Thought I'd mention that before people expect everything to hit DDR-2800 due to bad translation.

Orginally built this last month and it ran great for 2 weeks. At that time I was running it with Corsair Vengeance 8 GB ( 2 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) 240-Pin DDR3. Began to get BSOD, mostly memory mangement messages. Sent memory back to Amazon and was given a replacement of the same. Again ran great, then BSOD memory mangement started again.
I finally gave up with the Corsair Vengeance, and returned it.

Now running G.Skill Ripjaws X ( 4 x 4 GB ) DDRS 1866 MHz (PC3-14900) 240-Pin DDR3. Again machine ran great for a few weeks with no problems. Started it the other morning and on Windows Startup screen, BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_ OR_EQUAL STOP: 0x000000A (0xfffffa8181590878, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000001,0xfffff8000c0a5b74. The computer will not boot with all 4 sticks in at once. It works great with only 2 sticks, no matter the combination of sticks or the slots they are in. Changed to XMP in BIOS with same BSOD with 4 sticks.

Ive updated BIOS to 1205, updated all the drivers, and firmware on SSD, and still get BSOD with more then 2 sticks installed.

Please, what am i missing?

I have the same motherboard (and firmware) as you, and I also use G.Skill Ripjaws X 4x4GB but 1600 though. It's running good so far for 1-2 months now. Did you use memtest86+ to see if the RAM is not faulty?

Hey Raja,

By any chance would you know if Asus supports the Ducky 9008G2 keyboard in the UEFI? Mine doesn't work in the BIOS/UEFI of my P8Z77-V Deluxe, while all my other usb keyboards do. A member at another forum mentioned that sometimes UEFIs don't play well with USB keyboards that have "NKRO" capability due to the way it's implimented. I tested with the stock UEFI that shipped with the mobo and the latest released one as well.

If this keyboard isn't supported, will Asus support it in the future? Thanks.

I ran memtest86 on the Corsair Vengence with no problems, but not with the Gskill yet, which i will do now. I figured since I tested each stick on its own with no problems, it wasnt the memory.

Hi,

No idea. I've never even heard of that keyboard before :D

If it does not work then it can be patched, though the patch would very much depend on HQ being able to get one in Taiwan, and that can take quite some time.

Hi Raja,

Thanks for the reply. Here is Ducky's website. They're a Taiwanese company so acquiring their lineup of keyboards shouldn't be an issue. Ducky is one of the major mechanical keyboard OEMs. All of Overclock.net's mechanical keyboards are made by Ducky so they're fairly popular (and their high end models are sold out almost everywhere).

Would you mind forwarding this information to the right people, or point me in the right direction to do so?

Thanks!

Maximus V Gene BIOS 1101 quick report:
mSata not boot-able anymore, please fix quick, I need my OS from it :)

P.S. Please add option to disable HotPlug on ASMedia ASM1061 ports, or disable, I ejected them several times by mistake instead USB sticks, and there is no way(that I know) to add them back without reboot.
I need my machine online...

Thanks!

I can point HQ to them, but I cannot guarantee you a fix (if one is required) or any kind of timeline on a patch, these things can take quite some time. Sometimes of these reps don't hand out keyboards easily, even though public perception is that it should be easy for us to get the parts from them or buy them in (either can take a lot of time). Just a heads up for you. You can try ASUS Support for your region too if you wish. If the issue is something to do with NKRO not being workable for whatever reason, then there is not much that can be done.

m-Sata not BOOTable, what happens when you set it as the first BOOT device in UEFI?

I cant, it does not appear on list anymore, on OS mSata HDD(OCZ Nocti) is available so is nothing else then BIOS not flag it as boot-able anymore.
Worked just fine until latest BIOS.

Hi guys,
I'm so happy for finding this thread

I've built a new PC recently, here is the specs:_

CPU: Intel Core I5 3570k
MB: Asus P8Z77-V
VGA: Asus GEFORCE GTX 670 TOP
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 8 GB DDR3 1600MHz
COOLER: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
SSD: Samsung 830 - Series 128 GB Desktop Kit
HDD: Hitachi 2TB
DVD: Lite-On 24x IHAS424-98
Case: ThermalTake chaser MK-I
PSU: Corsair TX750 V2

My problem is when I tried to enable the iGPU there was no option to do so
only the primary GPU option that was set to auto, I clicked auto and there was just PCIE and PCI,

and the overclocking options are missing also, there is no turbo ratio, multipiller, anything
as if the CPU is none K

I've done \ tried everything you can findout more here

I hope someone can help me solve this problem as I Live outside the US and I can't send the MoBo back to Amazon or RMA it to asus

PS: the bios version is 1205
there is no pent pins on the MoBo

any Advices suggestions? Raja!

Looks like you flashed BIOS but for some reason (either unstable system or something else), the flash did not complete and you have corrupted the BIOS.

You will need to RMA the board or get a new BIOS chip. If you are within the US, contact ASUS support and ask for an advanced RMA (you will need to provide credit card security).

Next time you flash the BIOS. Use EZ Flash 2 with a FAT32 format. Make sure the systemn is 100% stable and let the flash complete. If the system needs a dou8ble flash (update of OROM or ME FW), let it complete when the system re-BOOTs.

is there any possibility that this could be fixed via c new bios version in the future? cause I can't RMA the board as I live outside the US
any suggestions would be appreciated

Sabertooth Z77 BIOS version 0906 won't boot with my flashed 6950 running the 6970 BIOS, if I flip the switch to run it at 6950 works fine. I did not have this issue with my setup in my signature.

Any beta BIOS options?

Bah found this
Just discovered this issue on mine after an upgrade. Could anyone tell me the current situation? Was it fixed?

@ Asus Maximus V Gene BIOS 1101
* Fixed Nvidia GTX 680 hang when runing with UEFI driver...

Is that meaning GTX 670 on pcie 3.0 @ maximus V Gene is no more crashing?

I've currently changed it to pcie 2.0.

Hey guys, I'm getting an irritating error message on every boot and I think it is related to an ASUS setup program that aborted and didn't properly finish. The title bar says "AsusSetup" and the message is "D:\Temp\131823Log.iniis lost".

Any idea on how to remove this error message? Thanks :)

No, you will have to RMA or get a new BIOS chip. No other way.

Ok, thank you raja RaJa, but as I've said before, I can't RMA the MoBo nor send it back to amazon because it's going to cost me 190$ shipping fees if I did, as I don't live in the US.
So getting a new bios chip is the way to go for me, can you tell me where can I get it from? Do they accept international visa and is it easy and safe to install the new chip by myself?

Hi guys, new to this forum.

I bought an Asus P8Z77-VLX about 2 months ago and was having weird random reboots. After reading the posts on this forum, i removed the Asus AI Suite which several users reported as the main culprit.

The AI Suite did not uninstall clean so i rebuild my OS (Win7Pro64bit) from scratch and everything was running really well. No random restarts for almost 2 weeks then suddenly last week it started restarting again. It would just go into an endless loop of BIOS then restart and the only way to stop it was to switch off the PSU and turn it back on again.

Lucky for me, after the rebuild and apps, i made an image as a standard practice. So i reimaged and everything was working well again for another week. Then yesterday, it started restarting again but after an hour it settled down and i am not sure what is happening.

I am not overclocking the system. Details as below:

1. Intel i5 2500K with Stock Cooler (CPU Temp never goes above 50C)
2. Kingston Hyper X 4GBx4 = 16GB (Memtest with no errors)
3. Asus Nvidia GTX-560
4. Cooler Master 650W PSU with an APC Backup UPS 1100VA

I am using the latest BIOS 0610.

I have disabled the Anti Surge option and also disabled the Chassis Fan 1 & 2 as they are not connected in the BIOS. Windows does not BSOD, it just restarts and reboots itself.

Any advice? I am thinking it might be a power issue where the BIOS is getting some reading that is not in the tolerance range and it just restarts.

Do i need to change any other BIOS settings because i am not sure if the Auto enable options (Loaded Defaults) in the BIOS are causing issues? The only options i disable are the anti surge, chassis fan 1 and 2. Everything else is same as the Loaded Defaults.

Also should i use XMP profile for the Kingston memory? I am using the 1333 setting even though the memory is rated at 1600.

You need someone to flash the chip for you. Either contact your local ASUS service centre or find a company online that can do this for you.

Details sent to HQ, they will try and get one to test out. They have other Ducky models I am told (in house) that work, so maybe just something specific to this model as you hinted.

Raja, you seem to didn't understood me, I want to by a new bios chip for my p8z77-v and and need to know where to get it online, thanks

Search Google for BIOS recovery companies and email people to find out if they will supply you in your area with a BIOS flahsed to whatever. I don't use these companies, and as you are not US based I cannot get you a BIOS chip from ASUS service here.

Ok Raja, in this case I'll tell you something, I have a US baced shipping address, I ship all the stuff I buy from amazon..etc to it, "that's how I got the MoBo", and then the freight forwarder ships them to me, so if you can I'll give you my US baced address to send the new chip to it, I would really appreciate it, please :), and thank you so much.

You can request for an RMA or BIOS chip for the USA at http://vip.asus.com/eservice/usa_rmaserv.aspx

I don't work for the RMA department myself, so don't process the requests.

Maybe might be worth investing in a BIOS chip programmer if you intend on buying products from abroad that you cannot RMA due to shipping. I can't imagine the downtime is worthwhile unless you have your bases covered.

thank yout so much Raja, sure will do, however one last question, when I get the new bios chip, will it be ready to install right away? Just need to remove the old chip and instal the new one instead right?

Is the P8Z77-M PRO capable of driving three monitors using the integrated HD 4000 graphics of an i5-3570K? Each monitor is 19" 1280x1024.

Would be nice if the BIOS kept a system log of sorts. At least if there is a reboot due to power issue, it could tell which power condition made it do a restart.
