Steam 2012 Summer Sale 7/12-22!

Realistically, will Skyrim be priced lower at any point during the Summer Sale?

Really? Just because YOU don't like the deals doesn't mean they're bad.

also, I'm more peeved because it's been 10.19 a couple times before. I was actually really hoping itd get down to $5-8

Skyrim is good but $30 is just a bit too high for me, it should be around $20 IMO.

Same It's getting down there slowly but surely.

I liked Dirt, how's Dirt Showdown??
Completely different direction for the Dirt Series. Its very fun if you want an arcade style game with fun game modes. The only downside is that multiplayer feels like its dying. I got it with my video card and wouldn't consider it worth $50, but $25 seems about reasonable. I wouldn't get it if you are a diehard race simulation fan.

If you have some friends to play with it's worth it. If you're planning to play single player only then yeah wait.

I haven't had to buy anything at all yet. Who's jelly?

Well in fairness, none of us HAVE to buy anything. It's just that the Steam sales break down our will and tend to make our wallets looser than a New York prostitute. :D

Yea, I'm not so into weird game modes and what appears to be a destruction derby. While I'm not hardcore, I'm not a big fan of racing games that try to do more than just racing.

I heard dirt showdown is similar to putting a humidifier and a dehumidifier in the same room and letting them fight it out.
That'll do it. Thanks!

However, wow todays deals are disappointing as fuck.

They need to hurry up and post the arma II sale so I can be done with this sale. Dead Usland 10? really? fuck off.

Not sure what the fascination with Day Z is. The one time it loaded it seemed very poor.

Was thinking of getting the DLCs though I will skip those and save for ArmA 3 instead.

Not much for me in this sale as Valve/Steam doesn't allow many of the good developers to sell on Steam.

Yeah. So far they have gotten me for

Skyrim $30
SR3 $12
Shogun TW2 $7

Only other think Ill buy this sale is Civ5 G&K if it hits 50% off but I doubt that.

So daily deals are where the lowest prices will be seen?

The daily deals and flash sales are the cheapest a game will get during the sale.

The rule of steam sales is that you wait for a game you want to be a daily deal/flash sale before purchasing it. If it never shows you just pick it up on the last day at the normal sale price.

It will be eventually. That said, I don't think $30 is too high for a game of that quality/length. It offers a lot more story and single player content than the vast majority of titles released these days. There were tons of people who paid $50 and were happy to do it so I think $30 is more than reasonable. Guess it depends partly on what your "type" of game is, though. For someone that doesn't enjoy those games, I can see even $15 seeming like too much. :p

I've just been buying up indie titles I never got around to. So far:

Binding of isaac
Trine 2
Super meat boy

Also bought Alice: Madness Returns and SW: Force unleashed 2...and beat it. Damn that thing was short. They had a damn good deal on Alan wake for $7.50, but I bought it at launch. Definitely worth it if you havent played it yet.

All I want now is Witcher 2 EE cheaper than $20 and I'll be happy. Everything else is just a bonus!

Skyrim is a good deal. You can play it as many different ways/specs/alignments as you want. It has so much content.

Skyrim at $30 is a steal. Just be aware that it might turn you into a basement dwelling weirdo for a week or three.

Skyrim looks cool but too repetitive like Oblivion, and I don't generally spend more than $20 for a really good game. I'm having way more fun with Kingdoms of Amalur right now, I think its a lot like Skyrim, except they said lets not suck the fun unrealistic elements out of the game... which is unrealistic to begin with.

Contemplating Tropico 4 and Dead Island... Tropico 3 was loads of fun, and Dead Island looks like a cleaner, enhanced L4D2

I was really hoping that skyrim would be $20 because it was $40 in the winter sale and I passed on it (big mistake) 7 months later to be just $30 seems a bit too much.

After several years: I wait for 75% off. I don't spend more than $9.99 for a game...its served me well...with few exceptions. (coughME3cough)...

probably a couple years too late but anyone for Borderlands 4 pack?

$30 for Skyrim isn't much of a deal considering the Bethesda Collection is only $20 more and includes New Vegas plus tons of DLC.

Contemplating dead island...Any suggestions?

It's not bad. It's kinda like Borderlands but with zombies and melee combat. They totally botched the launch, but after a few patches it's pretty decent. Probably more worthwhile if you're going to be playing co-op.

Though those other games could probably go for really cheap. But yeah that bethseda pack is a very very good deal if you don't already have those games. Enough gameplay to hold you over for 5 years. (and mods can help mix things up on the repetitive points)

All you people complaining about Skyrim for $30....really? If you haven't played it I don't think you can really say it's not worth $30.

I played it for about 100 hours. Some people are still playing it for hundreds more. If you liked Oblivion, just get it. I doubt it's going to get any cheaper any time soon.

Not much for me in this sale as Valve/Steam doesn't allow many of the good developers to sell on Steam.

Such as? Are there really that many studios/developers blacklisted from having their products on Steam? I know there's ones like EA that refuse to sell many products there due to DLC disputes, but that's not Valve disallowing it.

Some of us won't pay more than $10-15 per title, or when we do we get bundles that include loads of DLC. We're not complaining so much as disappointed that we have to wait longer for it to hit our price point.

I have 23 new titles from this sale alone. It's not like I won't have anything to play until Skyrim hits $15.

.........

Right cause EA has a say on what is sold on Steam.

Skyrim was worth every penny of it's full price back when it came out. It would still be worth it if you've never played.

For all you Skyrim virgins who are picking it up now - be sure to check out the Skyrim mega modding thread. There are LOTS of mods that improve the game.
