Guys just a note. When you send me gifts make sure you put some decent reason and not trade stuff someone just reminded me sometimes PP blocks people from using PPG after questionable trans', or so I've heard.

You might be able to get someone to gift you a spare copy of HL2 and E1.
HL1, E2, Blue Shift and Opposing force -- the titles worth buying in that collection -- would run you $7 I think.
I thought RS Vegas 2 was horrible, but a lot of my gripe was that it totally butchered the story of the first one, and didn't really even have a vegas backdrop. Plus the story was confusing because you were a different guy. The first one was far superior plot and environment wise.

If I were you I'd get the complete edition. If you have none of the games you get a ton of game play value for only $10. Half-Life 1 and expansions are definitely worth playing if you have never done so. Half-Life 2 is pretty good, but the 2 episodes are much better IMO.

At the very minimum, do the HL2 + E1 + E2, even though I haven't played through E2 yet. I'm pretty sure HL2 was the first FPS I played through 3-4 times, and E1 was pretty good too.
If you're one of those people that has a hard time with dated graphics, I wouldn't bother with the original. It is a classic though!

Bundles are your friend...at least for now. Eventually it gets to a point where they duplicate a lot of games and you can't even gift the extras. At that point, bundles no longer make sense

Yeah, this is my first steam summer sale. Trying not to buy everything.... lol
I will buy Skyrim and the Civ 5 expansion though before the end of the event. Just hoping for a flash/daily special!

Been doing steam sales for 4 years
I never ever buy bundles because of dupes and added games. Also never ever ever buy a game thats not a daily deal. The last day you'll have plenty of time to buy games don't worry. lastly if you're not immediately ready to play a game never ever pay more than $5. I've built a backlog of 300+ games I don't know that I'll ever get around to playing.
Also,
Ok, so having a week of deals, then daily deals wasn't enough? you have to have flash deals that end every 8 hours. Fuck you Steam, fuck you.

Meh, breaking point for me is more like $15... After that they'll often be at around that price point forever and I cant be bothered to track down deals to save an extra $5. For hyped games I know illl wanna play in the next six months ill pay up to $30, rarely buy any PC games for more than that tho.
I think the series packs are often better deals than the dev bundles where you'll rarely be interested in every game, Bethesda one prolly being the exception this year since everyone that hasn't played Skyrim is itching to get it for $30 so they can finally take an arrow to the knee.

Yeah I have a back log of 5 games right now. (Crysis 2, BF2, SR3, Shift2, and TW Shogun 2.) So I'm pretty sketchy about buying anything else unless I know im going to play it.

Yep, Metro and Bioshock 2 have been heavily discounted multiple times (which is why I have both of them already
).I actually had it for PS3 and traded it. It was great for co-op IMO. Don't expect a good story or anything more than simple, fun, cover-based shooting.
I'd re-buy for $5. If you're really hurting for co-op, then $7 is probably worth it.

Its bioshock 2 and you should be punched in the face for suggesting that game to anyone. Bioshock 2 is easily one of the worst games ever made. It's the game equivalent to making a sequel to Schindlers list.
R6 Vegas 2 is pretty good for coop but typical of UBI they lame it up with advertisements everywhere even though the game is like 5 years old and has a total of maybe 50 players online at a given time. My new policy is to not buy any game that has overt advertisements in it, especially dynamic (and changeable) advertisements, and to punish heavily any company that sneaks them in or patches them in.

Definitely get metro. It is a great game and can be has been on sale for $5 multiple times. Do not pay more than that. I have not played Bioshock 2 so I cannot comment on it.

I'm hoping for a pack with all three to be cheap. I had the first one on disc and loved it. Never played the 2nd or 3rd games because of negative user reviews.

Hence, I am very careful this steam sales. I will not buy a game unless it is < $5 because it will just get dumped into my ever growing backlog. I figure that the game will not get much cheaper than $5 anyways so I might as well grab it now.I also have the peculiar preference to have a hard copy DVD of the games I consider AAA and special. For instance, no matter how cheap fallout 3 and fallout new vegas are during these sales, I will not purchase them preferring to get the DVD hard copy. I like to have it displayed on my shelf of favorite video games

FEAR 2 has straight up retarded AI, although I enjoyed the areas and their layouts. The school in particular was good. Set your bar low for a challenge and if you liked the first, you'll like it.
FEAR 3 has better AI, but I didn't like it as much as the first two. Sure, it had some creepy to it, but not even on the level of the second game let alone the first. It felt more GoW than FEAR.
