Achieva Shimian QH270| $400 IPS 2560x1440 Korean Monitor

Throw up some images from the screen. I'd like to see it since you've taken some high quality photos.

Sounds suspicious. I'd consider electric interference of some sort , or even some kind of optical effect of room/overhead lighting vs bezel edges. Then eliminate other possibilities (flex they all experienced, moisture, viewing angle peeking inside bezels outside of actual display area?, overblown brightness setting bleeding in a hard line on actual edge.. etc.. etc. ).. also cables/connections, outlets/circuits, power supply. "When everything possible has been eliminated, consider the impossible". The odds of several monitors by different manufacturers having the same line for the same exact person due to a mfg defect sounds extremely slim to me by comparison to other reasons.

bolded is my suspicion.

I bought a house since I got one of them, gone through numerous setups with numerous cables, power, dvi, dvid, hdmi, multiple displayport adapters etc
gosh my third powersupply if not 4th, hell my second or third machine as my main rig :p

I wonder if the bezel is just out of proper alignment

I just assumed it was <A+ QC since its westinghouse, hanns g, and now korean off brand

I've never had the white lines on any lcd I've ever owned, and I've owned some crappy ones.

Same Same
You need to replace the Video card

I will change the main charge in xfire to the other and see if its still there, but I am skeptical

since this card was in my htpc and should have been real noticable on my 65" DLP, though it could have ran into an issue since then of course

There shouldn't be a line, especially not on multiple monitors. I can't believe you think this is normal. What are you using to display the colors? Are you sure the line is not the taskbar set to auto-hide?

Just got my Crossover 27Q from green-sum, today after missing yesterday's truck. Looks amazing. -- I think it has a couple stuck blue pixels near the upper left corner.. or i might just be insane.. either way its really hard to spot at 4 inches away from my face so I'm not too worried about it.

Migrating from a Dell 2007WFP.. very different size.

which one of these Korean monitors have the best ability to adjust height from the base?
about 8 to 12 inches from the bottom?
Are any of them able to overclock to 80-100mhz

I dont think you quite understand. I literally CANNOT see it unless running that pixel test. I guess it could be that taskbar, but its IE in F11 presentation mode

it could be something from the taskbar, I might try turning off displayfusion

only the 120hz.net ones can do that now.

What color profile are you using? You probably won't notice, but there may be a slight blue tint out of the box. If you use the 24' ACD color profile, it will make your colors even better.

At first it may look orange to you, but trust, me, it's only becuase you've been seeing blue too much.

If you guys could pick three of any brand/model of these Korean monitors regardless of price which ones would you choose for an Eyefinity setup and why?

I did some manual color adjustments.. I think it's white but I could give that profile a shot.

Shimian because others seem to be having more QC issues with the Crossovers and I've never cared for the Catleap look, but I suspect the real reason there seem to be more issues with them is mostly because the Crossovers are more popular now. They have a nicer enclosure / stand.

I am looking at buying one of these 27' Koreans. I saw on eBay from seller Green Sum these are available for $310, but he also offers a pixel perfect one for $365. Is the extra money worth it? Here is the link to the pixel perfect one http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140723272177&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT.

I also have a few questions about these? Do they have that glassy glossy finish?
How is the black levels?
Are there any other monitors at 27' better than this for under $500?

I am also curious as to which Korean to go with? The Yamakashi or the crossover. Can someone tell me the difference and a recommendation on which is better in performance /build quality / and what looks better?

Also I may over lock, can both the Yamakashi and Crossover be over clocked?

I don't mean to sound demanding with all of my questions but I would really appreciate answers cause I want to purchase it tomorrow!!

THANKS!!

Yes, some have glossy finish and they all have good black levels. Can't OC unless you pay a few hundred more and order for overclocker.net.

Sellers offering "pixel perfect" monitors will only guarantee against dead pixels, not stuck pixels, and if you get dead pixels they'll just give you $10 back per dead pixel, not pay for a return (unless there are more than 5). With that in mind no, I would not say the $50+ premium for "pixel perfect" (when it isn't really pixel perfect) is worth it. Your chances of getting one without issues just paying the normal price are just as good.

Maybe there are some sellers offering a "real" pixel perfect guarantee, but I haven't seen it.

I know there are 80 pages, but... read the damn thread. Or search. The same questions have been asked every page for 20 pages now.

is that the same as the apple 24 talked about earlier?

I know AW does it. They claim A+ panels, with zero pixel defects of any kind.

Considering the $100 price premium, they pretty much *have* to take them back if there's a pixel issue.

I've seen several sellers offering 'pixel perfect' monitors, including the verbiage "no dead or stuck pixels" in their listings. Wouldn't eBay buyer protection kick in if the item arrives with a single dead or stuck pixel, thus satisfying the "item not as described" scenario?

I bought the crossover.. paid the $350.. which is $40+..basically for the better stand quality... I wouldn't spend another $100 for a "pixel perfect one".. this is about cheap knock offs...that are damned decent for the money...

for all those folks.. skeptical, wanting perfect, etc?

I would suggest don't bother with these. save your money and buy the ACD or Dell with clean clear Warranty availability..

these never promised perfection.. these are cheap.. off brands... its a gamble!!

if a $300 gamble is really beyond your budget...then don't bother. because these eBay monitors are a gamble!!

Personally.. Im glad I jumped in... but if this is too fearful an idea for anyone. dont look for greater hand holding.. there isnt any.

An extra $100 is still a steal compared to a Dell (shitty AG) or Apple (horrific price).

I'd still go for it.

true!

my point was some of the apprehension in some of the posts.. seem to loose site of what this.. a killer deal, with some risk.. but overall.. the ROI is high, given the large group that have already beta tested the experience

AccessoriesWhole does indeed seem to be the best of all the sellers from what I've read.

Their stuck/dead pixel policy is also very good:
Understanding our pixel warranty policy
Dead Pixel : 1 maximum / Stuck Pixel : 3 maximum
Most of their monitors have that same pixel warranty

The only unknown thing with these is how reliable they are long term... although the PCB's look good enough. Should last a few years, at least until Dell pull their finger out and give us glossy/semi glossy ag monitors.

I bought a Crossover 27Q LED P "perfect pixel" from AW.
It came with no dead or stuck pixels but It did have a dark pressure mark (or strip whatever you want to call it) near the bottom of the panel. I sent it back. AW paid for shipping and got my money refunded.
I wouldn’t pay extra for one again.

I owned a Yamakasi Catleap before that I bought from greensum. It came perfect, no dark strip or dead/stuck pixels, and it was a non "perfect pixel."
It’s a gamble like they say.

Question for you guys since these monitors have one DVI-D connector.

I have three devices to hook up to this screen, my PC (DVI-D GTX680), my wifes laptop (via display port, she wants to just use excel with it and email when she works from home), and my PS3 (HDMI).

If bought two DVI-D splitter cables and hooked up one of the cables to the monitor (leaving two DVI-D connections), then split one of the DVI-D connections with the other splitter (hooking up my PS3 (DVI-D to HDMI) and my wifes laptop (displayport to DVI-D)) then just used the available connector for my PC.. Would it work???

Parts: 2x DVI-D dual link splitter cables
1x DVI-D to HDMI
1x DVI-D to Display port
1x my own DVI-D cable

Also the specs say that laptops will not work, is that in terms of video/gaming at full resolution, or will it not even push email and excel from a laptop even using reduced resolution?

Well, at least you could return your monitor to AW.

If you catleap came like that you probably wouldn't get the return. In essence, you're paying for higher odds in the stakes when going for AW, as you have the option of sending it back for the most minor of issues.

just bought ACHIEVA QH270-IPSMS from red-cap seller
has multiple inputs (dvi hdmi), so fingers crossed it's all good :D

I got the Achieva Shimian QH270-Lite (no scaler) from TA_Planet and its great, i love the pixel density. Comming from an old westinghouse 37" AMVA gen 1? panel the blacks aren't nearly as good and ips glow takes some getting used to, but it was time to get a real monitor and the pixel response time is noticeably faster.

I have an ati HD5870 so of coarse i don't have a post screen and can't see the bios, which is fine i was expecting that.

what troubles me is the list of "post and bios screen compatable" videocards is all over the place. what in the world is different about how the video cards detect the monitors EDID, why can a 5830, 4850, and 6950 display the bios, and a 5870 can't.
I want to know esspecially because its going to deside what all my future video card upgrades are untill i buy a monitor with a scaler, and the "compatable" list is a generation old already going upto amd 6000 and nvidia 500.

right now it's a shot in the dark which amd hd 7xxx's and nvidia 6xx's will display the bios and which ones won't. very frustrating.

anybody have some idea's?

I got a "perfect pixel" Crossover 27Q version from AW after sending a regular back due to 3 dead pixels. And guess what, the "perfect pixel" monitor does have 1 dead pixel too! I shelled out and additional $100 for the "perfect pixel" version too!

I received only a apology from AW as compensation for it...

^^^
This is what I've been warning people about.

Bet all those people that whined about my truly perfect pixel Shimian being $400 shipped from within the US and tried to lowball me are kicking themselves now that it sold ;)

Sounds like you weren't firm enough, since it sounds like you asked for compensation, and not another replacement/refund.

If it's not pixel perfect, it breaks the terms of sale for ebay.

Anyone tried these with a laptop with a display port to DVI-D adapter? Just for internet and maybe excel/word. Does it give a blank screen or are they saying its just not powerful enough to play a game when they say "Don't work for laptop"
