Achieva Shimian QH270| $400 IPS 2560x1440 Korean Monitor

I just pulled the trigger on a QH270-Lite for $305 from bigclothcraft. Auto-rejected a $300 offer, but took $305.

I don't really care much about the build quality or stand, I'm going to replace the stand. It seems like the displays are all the same, so I just went as cheap as possible. I think I read about 100 pages of this thread before pulling the trigger, and it seems as though my chances of a dead pixel are the same across the different brands since the display is the same, and pixel perfect still makes no guarantee. So whatever, if my chances are the same and I don't care about quality, I'm going cheap as possible.

You won't be disappointed man.

Also good feedback :) thanks a bunch!

I got a response from bigcloth asking:
For smoothing pass against custom,

1) May I mark item as gift?
2) How much price I put on invoice?

How did you answer these? I'm assuming this is to avoid some sort of tax, possibly for the both of us

thats exactly what I replied too

so.. wow.. I am so glad I jumped in on these.. just cant beat the ROI..

this IPS LED is gorgeous! everything is so vibrant and delicious... compared to the old West 37 I was using! runs a lot cooler as well.. and less power draw..

For those of you with Crossovers, which color profile are you using? I'm using the Apple Cinema Display profile from TFT and it looks gorgeous!

i have one of the blue blemishes as well in the same exact spot. I don't know if you modified your picture, but mine is not as prevalent. I noticed when I first booted it up, but have since forgot about it until your post. ::shrug:

I ordered a ShiMian Lite from dream-seller, I think I got a dud .There are four vertical lines of 6-7 dead pixels (green on black background) , which looks pretty bad , I have some pictures.

What do you guys think?

I guess I will have to return it which sucks. Does anyone have experience in returning them ?

Wow, that sucks. I presume you attempted the "rub the stuck pixel" technique?

Good luck on your return and let us know how the process goes.

Just contact the seller and package everything up the way you got it. They should pay for shipping since that would count as defective. Haven't heard that many good things about dreamseller lately so try another seller if possible.

I did try 'rubbing' them , but didn't help much. They keep on coming back. Sometimes , they seem to be 'blinking'.

Here is the response I got from dream-seller after I contacted him :

-This is our return policy. Once we receive your monitor, we will send it to Achieva AS team to see if it is faulty or not. If it turns out that it is faulty, based on the monitor return policy, then a full refund with the returning shipping cost will be proceeded all together. However, if it is not faulty, then only a partial refund with deducting the shipping cost, which was incurred when we dispatched your product, will be proceeded. Also the returning shipping cost will be refunded, only if it turns out as faulty. If it's not faulty, we are sorry to tell you this but it won't be refunded. Do you agree with us? Please read carefully.

Take good pictures of your defective monitor and send it back, unles you can live with the defects. It may just take a while for you to get your refund though.

120hz.net says they will have some for sale within the hour

I would say:

AccesorriesWhole
TA_Planet
Greensum
BigClothcraft
DCSamsungmall

The top would be AcessoriesWhole and 2nd best could go to any of the others, based on feedback I've read, and i've read quite a bit. My experience with AW was nothing short of awesome!

Definitely. Seems like Witech or green-sum or whoever is actually providing the 120hz monitors is just taking advantage of all the free publicity they were given.
Also, from 120hz.net: "PCBs are in the works as well as a US company to sell 120hz monitors". If I'm going to pay over $500 for one of these, I'd rather wait for the US ones anyway. At least then if it has a bunch of dead pixels I can return it without paying shipping..

might try redcap, seem some decent feedback on here and they have the lite listed at 289 BIN or best offer

Quite a few of the dead pixels seem to be blinking periodically as well , so maybe its the internal connectors . Any ideas ? Thanks !!

Followup:

Just got my Crossover from the following Ebay sale

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CROSSOVER-2..._Monitors&hash=item19d1b85dfd#ht_18711wt_1054

So far... Perfect ! I could not be happier. And for $650 for a supposed A+ panel I should be.

Not one problem pixel noticed so far. Tons of inputs (and optical output). The base does go portrait, but you have to raise it up by pulling the stand and reinserting a peg/screw. This isn't a big deal for me as I will rarely if ever go to portrait mode.

Scaling works well and games aren't a problem for me as I am not a competitive gamer.

Thinking of getting the square trade warranty on this. Has anyone else done this ?

Did you Just pay $ 650.oo for One Monitor ?

Yes. I did not want even the most remote chance of dead or stuck pixels or color uniformity issues so when accesorieswhole advertised a monitor with an A+ panel (atypical for these monitors) that had the specific features I wanted (a scaler) I figured I was getting something better than the Apple Cinema Display (which has no scaler) for $350 less.

Now that I have it I feel that I certainly made the right decision for me.

GRats Far_side! Glad your happy! Im equally fully happy with my Crossover!

One thing I did notice is that mt transformer block gets VERY warm. Almost too warm to touch. Anyone else experience this ?

from reading almost 100 pages of this thread, this is pretty common. Several people seemed to snag a couple different models locally or on eBay, but no one has reported an issue with one blowing that I saw.

My original Nanjing Frontek manufactured 220v rated unit died after about 2 months use at 110v, I got a replacement off eBay.

This is my IPSB/IPSI Achieva, using Monoprice's stand. Has a faux brushed aluminum bezel I tried to capture in the photos, all plastic though with tempered glass under the bezel. Sorry for the dirt/unclean screen, doesn't look that way until flash brings it out. No dead or stuck pixels that I can find (spec of dirt in one image), also no dust under the glass.

Not sure if anyone else has seen it before or not, seems rare but here they are:

Here's images for backlight bleed. I believe the IPS glow is the two bottom corners a bit lit up, final image was taken from far back with zoom.

Although notice the terrible backlight bleed off to the right in the top center in the first image. That oddly comes and goes, not sure how to explain that. VERY bad that one day, but with the exception of another day after a month of owning, usually never there:

I apologize for what looks like the changed camera settings. I'm not trying to exaggerate the first image's poor backlight bleed in any way though, it was terribly bad and noticeable even in regular gaming scenes, didn't even have to be dark. The middle image better reflects what you really see (the bit of IPS glow) and less so of any bleed at the top, mostly perfect looking to my eye.

Achieva Shimian QH270-IPSMS (dvi, hdmi, vga)
YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 MULTI (dvi, hdmi, vga)

which is better overclocker ? not expecting 100hz+ , but 70-80 hz will be cool

Neither. All but the 2Bs top out around 67Hz. Just get whichever you like the look of best and forget about "overclocking" it.

EDIT: HDMI variants will accept higher Hz signals but drop frames, meaning "overclocking" them actually makes them not work as well as stock. Don't do it.
