Just looking for some recommendations on upgrading my 580sli setup to a 670sli setup. I run 8050x1600 resolution so I'll need a 4gb card. I also have thoughts about going with tri-sli and/or watercooling these in the future with a new motherboard/cpu.

I'm not in an incredible rush so if there are products known to be releasing in the near future, I can wait. My main concerns are probably going to be availability of the cards and the waterblocks that might go onto them.

I recently built a machine for my tv that's running one of the gigabyte 670s and it's been fast and quiet...a nice combination.

I havefour EVGA 670 4GB SC cards and I love them. I run at 8132x1600 and they do a good job of keeping up!

Do you have those on air? I'm worried about the noise when having the cards sitting next to each other.

You need 4-way SLI at that res unless you're planning on only playing Portal 2 and Dirt 3. Then you don't need 4GB. On air it's loud if you OC, otherwise it's fine.

My 2 3GB 580s can run pretty decently at 8050x1600. In general, it's just "shadow"-type settings that need to be turned down. There's really no need for AA with this pixel density...at least for my eyes. I'm not a big fan of multiplayer FPS...if I were, I might want more horsepower.

I actually "downgraded" from 3 1.5GB 580s to the 2 3GB 580s and getting rid of the stutters made gaming much more pleasurable despite whatever drop i saw in average framerate.
