I finally got a new Kingston SSD to upgrade my old computer from regular HD (raptor) to SSD. System consist of Abit IP35E, Q6600, GTX 460, 8GB RAM. During install of Win7 x64, it will stop after the first reboot, and then nothing. I have left it on for a few hr, and it does not make any progress. I have tried reducing RAM to single stick 2GB, upload mobo drivers, replace video card with older card.

Is there a problem with Abit IP35E and SSD? Help please?

Thanks
Chris

I am interested in this answer as well. Does BIOS take special settings for a SSD?

For a new SSD, be sure to turn on AHCI. When I first installed mine a few weeks ago it kept telling me that my SSD was "dynamic" and wouldn't install anything to it.

There is no AHCI setting for this particular mobo. I ended up using Acronis to create an image of the boot drive, then transfer to SSD. So far it works....

your mobo maybe be to old for things like trim, etc.

ssds are supposed to behave exactly like a hdds on the outside afaik.

I had issues installing win 7 on some old G.Skill 64GB SSD's back in the day on a AMD 790GX/750 mobo. I had to go through alot of different SATA drivers until I found one that worked for my setup. This was back in early 2009 when I first built the system.

Don't sweat it - happens to the best of us. I rarely post on any forum as by the time I've verfied my facts the sun has set too many times that it isn't relevant any more!
