Achieva Shimian QH270| $400 IPS 2560x1440 Korean Monitor

FYI: I ordered 5, nearly 6, days ago & dreamseller still hasn't shipped. Says they'll ship tomorrow. :( Was hoping to have these by now. Oh well.

Was going to get the U2711 until I stumbled on these Korean models. After much deliberation, settled on the Crossover 27Q S-IPS panel. In the end, the fact of no anti-glare coating is what won me over, as I wasn't sure if I had a problem with it or not at such high price point of the Dell. With the Crossover, for more than 50% off, you are basically getting the same panel. Another reason why went with the Crossover is the fairly high quality bezel and stand, the other models just look way too kitschy and cheap.

The seller shipped it within hours of payment, I can't wait to get it!

Man, I'm about to pull the trigger on the same one you just bought except the P version with the adjustable stand. Who did you buy it from?

accessorieswhole. Yeah, I did actualy get the LED-P version too, with the pivot stand. Click the link in my post above to go directly the ebay page I bought it from.

Just wanted to add I just got the Potalion branded monitor from BigClothCraft on eBay for a graphic designer at work..

BCC actually tests the monitor for non-DOA and dead pixels before shipping.

Ordered it on the 14th, he messaged me to let me know it would take 1-2 days to be tested. He shipped it on the 18th, it arrived on the 20th! It was obvious the box had been opened as new tape was put over the old, and the plastic the monitor was wrapped in had been re-taped as well. But I was expecting that!

Not a single dead or stuck pixel from what I can see and no backlight bleed. Oddly enough the monitor has menu/auto/exit buttons on it, but they do nothing. Only the bright up/down and power buttons work. The stand is decent. It does tilt backwards and also rotates. Monitor does not lean to the right like some of the other "brands" do. It included a 120-240 volt power supply with Korean plug, but they also included a US adapter. The power supply uses your standard IEC connector so I just used one of the hundreds of US IEC cords I had laying around instead. Haven't tried "overclocking" it yet as I have no need to at work.

Overall its a beautiful monitor and I am thinking about getting one to replace my FW900 CRT at home...

I'm looking at buying one. Those who already own one who are your suggested sellers?

Thanks.

Hey man, let us know how your monitor is when you get it!

Long time stalker, first time poster. Have been looking to get one of these for a while, but not a big fan of eBay and worried about the shipping. Saw someone has one for sale here in the MP so if it works out, hope to be a new owner! Probably read every page of this thread twice and cannot wait to finally get one.

Am trying to decide between Potalion, Crossover or Achieva. There are way too many options. Then there are the sellers! No clue who are good etc.

I have a linux desktop with dual link and a mac so I guess I will need a mini display to dual link cable for all of these variants.

Sure will. Its already here. Ordered by 630pm on tuesday 19 of june, and it just arrived at my doorstep. Incredible!

Wowzers! You got it in two days?!?!?! Put some pics up and let me know your personal impressions of the screen and stand!

The ebay Crossover page says NOT TO USE any hdmi or dp converters.

Anyone know why, or verify this?

I have a 6950 now and two of my connections are the miniDP to dvi adapters. Anyone know if that would continue to work with the Crossover?

Thanks ... very informative. Now which ebay sellers are good. I see people who inspect and who give zero pixel guarantee for extra (latter being more than the former). Are people buying sealed, or getting inspected or doing pixel guarantee ..... and from which sellers

From what I've read, AccessoriesWholesaler is the best with 99.9% rating on Ebay, then comes the rest, BCC, dream-seller, DCSamsungmall, red curtain, etc. all over 98% rating on ebay.

You can also order from AW thru Amazon as they just set up there as well, which I'm probably going to do.

Picked up mine out of the Market here. I figured he already opened and says there are no dead pixels, and it's shipping from inside the States so it's a no brainer. I think he has two left.

Says ships from Korea. Which model did you buy? Was it perfect?

Just pulled the trigger on a YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 LED SE for $290 from green-sum... Hoping for no dead / bright pixels!

Which adapter is this seller talking about? I wonder if it is advertising or if this adapter is really better than the stock Nanjing Frontek:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/32087999855...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_10085wt_943

"Overclock.net users requested for high quality adapters.
Achieva Korea supply the upgraded adapters only for me.
New adapter pictures will be updated sooner.
Check the size of noise filter of adapter."
(no photos available, however)

I'm also interested in the IPSI model he's selling (internal tempered glass), but there are just about no reviews available for it. If anyone owns it and would not mind adding more photos and comments on how dusty the glass is underneath, please do!

Well, the Frontek burns out after a couple months running on 120v, so pretty much anything would be an improvement if you don't plan to get a step-up transformer.

It does? Mine has been running cool and well for over a month now. I don't know where you got that information. Mine is rated for 110V+.

Not to say you are, but man, some of these comments in here by people that are still classified as Noobie, makes me think the sellers are coming here and posting......

Take this guy for example, not a peep for the last few months on this thread and then BAM! he comes posting in here about his month old powersupply. Seems fishy.

Well, I'm no newbie. My power adapter with my perfect pixel PCBANK has been running fine for about 3 months.

I'm talking about the Frontek PSU that states 220v only on the bottom. I received it with my Achievia Shimian IPSB (glass front version) it worked fine at 120v for about 2-3 months then died suddenly and without warning. I bought a replacement PSU (24v 5A 120v rated) from Ebay and it was been working properly since. The Frontek PSU is not rated for 120v and will die if used with it after a while.

There are many other PSUs these have been paired with, and there may be Frontek variants rated for 120v out there I am not familiar with. I am talking about the units that clearly state "220v" as the accepted input only.

My PSU died, so I am speaking from experience, not second hand information. It was connected to a Cyberpower USP with AVR from day one, so it is not an issue of dirty power or anything like that.

I don't even... Your logic... I don't know how to even approach this comment, so I'll just leave it be.

Edit: I am still looking for info on this mysterious upgraded version that TA_planet is offering, because I'm about to buy a second monitor and want to know if it's worth the investment from him (since BCC sells LITEs for $10 less and has an Offer price available). I don't know, maybe his is 110V+ version is fine too.

P.S.: this forum has the only review of Achieva IPSI I have seen in English with photos, so I hope that person will post more information about it. Specifically if the amount of dust under the glass is noticeable.

Sorry if I offended you, and I'm glad you responded. You dont' sound like a foreign seller trying to defend their products at all. I'm too lazy to go through my thought process with you, but you're legit in my book. :D

Prad's Review of the Achieva Shimian QH300 is up, it received their lowest rating

http://www.prad.de/new/monitore/test/2012/test-shimian-qh300.html

Below is my interpretation

+Good Viewing Angles
+Good Screen Uniformity
+Good Pixel Response Times
+100% sRGB Coverage
-Typical Grainy Matte Coating
-Mediocre Contrast/blacks (700:1 only at the max brightness...30" IPS pretty much always have mediocre contrast)
-Contrast is greatly reduced when you turn down the brightness (450:1 after calibration @140cdm/2 which is horrendous imo)
-Have to keep the displays brightness cranked to keep the contrast around 700:1
-Over 1 frame of Input Lag
-Distorted 16:9 image (stretched) with external sources (consoles/blu ray players)
-Power Consumption

Are these monitors good for everyday use? I don't do any gaming, but I would like the extra real estate with the higher resolution these monitors come with. Since the HDMI versions of these have built-in scaling, would I be able to hook it up to my notebooks HDMI and have it work correctly? Thanks in advance!

you need one of the upper models that has more ports - and I don't think most graphics cards on notebooks can handle this many pixels... I may be wrong, but you should check your specs .. and yes these are good for everyday use!!!

come to daddy..

Just wanted to drop in and thank everyone that provided useful information in this thread. I was lurking this thread for a while, not 100% sure if I should purchase one of these monitors.

I finally pulled the trigger last Friday, and my new Shimian from BCC showed up this past Wednesday. I couldn't be more happy with the panel, no stuck/dead pixels have jumped out at me yet and very minimal backlight bleed. The only downside is my old 2007WFP looks so dull and tiny sitting next to it :(
